    Great Video. Definitely agree with the center nail dot should be square to the ceiling and base board ( assuming you have a level house and the base board and ceiling is of equal distance on both sides of the wall ). This will ensure that you aren't putting the frames at an angle. Personally I'd use painters tape to mark on, as eraser on wall paint tends to leave a visible rub mark on the paint. Sometimes it is also difficult to get pencil out as well :p
    Additional tips: For black frames, get some back bumpers, as they tend to leave black marks on your wall. For an uneven ceiling/floor.... especially for a house that has been renovated... its going to take some creative measuring to get it to look even to the human eye. You can also use furniture, plants and other things to hide the obvious.

    I like your video... it's very well done, thank you. I do prefer the Rody Precision Corner instead of the measuring tape when hanging pictures, specifically because of it's leveling feature which includes two levels, horizontal and vertical, which are situated on the tool itself, but tape measure also, obviously, has its uses. Hope you make more videos, thanks.

    If the pictures are 10" on center, and you want a one inch separation, couldn't use just measure out 21" for the next nail spot on either side?

  • @pccoder
    @pccoder 2 роки тому +12

    But what if the hanging point for each picture is not to the exact height of the frames? It's not likely that they will ever be 100% the same. This is especially true where a hanging cable is attached to the back of heavy frames. Where they are attached to the sides of the frame can certainly vary. Even 1/8th of an inch would be fairly obvious. 1/2 inch or more will be completely obvious.

      Put a dot of toothpaste at the point on the picture's hanger that should meet the nail/hook. Push framed piece against wall, leaving a dot of the paste!

      @Betterthinktwice good thinking with the paste..I kept using tape to mark bc I didn't wanna ink up the wall but paste sounds like a much easier idea

    This is my FIRST comment on ANY UA-cam video ever. You did great! Great comedy at the beginning, and delivered exactly what you said it would in a timely fashion, and exactly what I (as a new homeowner) needed and appreciated.
    If you want to improve your video/content quality my comments include:
    1. Look into public speaking tactics, you have a great personality and presence already but be cautious of your use of filler words and sounds (lots of ums/aaaaaands/etc.).
    2. video quality is iffy. If you can, have your partner film close-ups and get more than one angle.
    3. video quality again, you and the exact measurements are quite blurry. You're personality is very likable so don't be afraid to sell yourself.
    The video was very useful, liking and subscribing, good luck to you!

    If your ceiling isnt level or your floor which it probably isnt then your pictures will be out. Get a spirit level off your centre picture screw for the other holes

    • @joepatton123

      If both ceiling and floor are out of level and your pictures are hung level it will look funky. I’d follow my ceiling and keep them parallel to avoid the gap looking noticeable

    • @joepatton123
      @joepatton123  3 роки тому +1

      You’d have to measure the distance from the hook to the top of the frame for each picture and adjust accordingly. That gets a little more complicated

    I’m a profession art handler with 35 years experience in installing art and I find it entertaining watching videos like this.
    I cringed a little through the steps and I certainly wouldn’t endorse you hanging framed artworks on one point of contact , but you got there eventually so , good job. As the pilots say, “any landing is a good landing “ . 😂

    1). Add one nail/screw/hook into wall at correct height position on the most far left section of where you want to hang your frames.
    2). Measure width of frame and add 1 inch
    3). Mark distance on a straight piece of wood
    4). Attach small level on top of piece of wood
    5). Now use piece of wood as a template to accurately measure remaining positions for nail/screw/hooks
    Video should be 30 seconds long.
