I think what people need to realize is that although the dermatologist did not sugar coat anything and you can see how the girl reacted to her acne scars being noticeable, the dermatologist is a professional so she's going to notice things in detail. The other girl in the back responding that she wouldn't have known her skin was that bad in the past just acknowledges the fact that non-professionals would think her skin looks good as it is which I'm sure is a great thing for her to hear.

My dermatologist told me I had incredible skin and the bumps on my forehead weren’t acne, but a rash and likely caused by food allergies. He was right. I was told this at 26 after spending 13 years with dermatologists telling me I had severe acne and prescribing things that made my skin worse. Just an egg allergy … it was so nice to be told I had great skin though. 3 days after cutting out egg, my skin completely cleared up too.

That's what happened to me, too! Except I figured it out on my own. I had to go on a low FODMAP diet because of my GI issues. Which meant that I couldn't consume a lot of gluten; something I was eating in excess. Within like a month, my acne pretty much cleared up. I didn't think about the fact that the skin is also an organ (the largest on our bodies). So, sometimes it reflects what's going on internally. smh. I have a family history of migraines and I get maybe like 1 every other month or if I'm on my period or something. I used to get so many of them within a singular week. Now, I always make it a point to tell people to look at their diet first before going to a dermatologist and getting chemicals and steroids.

As someone with decent skin who has never done skincare, I'd be very interested to see what she says about me.

Once I went to the dermatologist and mentioned "I think I'm getting a few blackheads on my cheek" and she legit said "yes I can see that, lots, lots, lots, lots lots of them!" (translated from a different language) LIKE BRO YOU DIDN'T HAVE TO BE THAT HARSH DAYM

I love how nobody has said anything about the doctor equating scarring to accutane...I've never been on that and I have old scarring, too. I feel like she's just talking to talk right there.

Girl, if you are on here, I had to look for your scars after she mentioned them, they do not define your features, you are really pretty.

This can be really damaging :/ I also feel bad guessing people’s age’s because you don’t know what they’ve been through.

If anything, I think her objectively saying terms like “acne scars”, but subjectively describing that as “beautiful” is way better than sugar coating it.

This is me. I had the worst skin and now spending so much on laser. My bf is so nice and tells me he prefers my skin without the makeup and don't need the procedure.

Overall, she is quite beautiful, so I hope that she does not do anything unwise to her skin.

The best compliments really are from black women especially older black women. It just makes your whole year 😅
