    It’s early days that first half is a testament as to how well this team could potentially play

      It’ll be interesting to see how their press works against France, Varane and Upamecano are extremely weak on the ball and so is Rabiot.
      Against Argentina, Otamendi is very vulnerable to pressing and honestly so is Mac Allister in a CDM role.

    I'm Dutch, Canada was pretty impressive the first half. I assumed they wouldn't be able to keep up the press throughout the game and that's exactly what happened, in my opinion. But it's a step in a good direction, just needs some finetuning. Good luck on your next fixtures in the Copa!

    Canada's first 25 minutes were quality. Their passing and energy was some of the best I've seen out of them. If this game ended 2-0 for the Dutch, i think the team would be extremely happy given the player changes and attempting to play the new style for the first time under Marsch.

    It was a fun match! It's worth mentioning it was mostly B sometimes C team players in every position for the us (the Dutch). It's also the first time we've played 4-3-3 since we lost to France 4-0 a while back. Which is why it took a while for the players to get some chemistry. Also Memphis playing left wing is something he hasn't done in a hot minute to allow Brobbey to play centrally up top. Good luck against France and in the Copa America!

    I dislike when people say it could have been 6 or 7 to 0 without considering that it could have also been 4-1 or 4-2. We had a couple solid opportunities too.

  • @ethanm1012
    @ethanm1012 4 місяці тому +10

    My biggest takeaway: We need a 6 more than any other position. It is quite clear that eustaquio and specially kone would play better as 8’s. Also our outside mids in a 4-4-2 always play as wingers making more of a 4-2-4. Love Piette but anytime he plays in these international games it’s clear he’s not up to that level as a 6. Second takeaway is we need to try out a different front 2. I’d love to see David under a striker that is actually an athlete (pace, size, strength). Positive takeaway is I believe our centre back problem is actually not as much of a problem as rival fans make it out to be, specially if bombito and Cornelius can get a transfer

  • @kennediens
    @kennediens 4 місяці тому +6

    the problem with the press is that if the offensive team has some composure and makes 1 pass they are beyond 4 or 5 defenders. NED did it time and time again.

    • @dvbernard
      @dvbernard 4 місяці тому

      The way Marsch does pressing is too predictable. All teams have to do is sit back and let his teams exhaust themselves. That's what happened in the Premier League. Like Leeds, Canada has a relatively weak defense: all you have to do is stifle the offense and counterattack once they get tired.

    That's how Holland plays they feel you out in early minutes at start and then adapt. It's not the type of team you want to press against unless you got quality at every position.

    • @Technical_ability_superiority

      It is not so much the quality of Canada’s players, but more about Netherlands.
      It is pointless pressing CBs and DMs that are good with the ball at their feet, high pressing was mainly designed to attack teams with defenders who have technical ability.

    That Canada kit looks great! Only thing I don't like is the oval behind the swoosh. But, regarding the game, Canada looked great in the first half. Excited to see the development. Keep in mind, it would take any coach some time to figure out best system, best use of players and best strategic approach based on available players. Good luck to CanMNT.

    Sorry, Canada only had a good 20 min, not a good first half. Two clearences off the line in the first half. This is what happened in the world cup too: other teams feel you out for 20 min and then adjust. Canada doesn't adjust. Also not impressed with this red bull pressing style. Worried that the Leeds fans are right about the coach.

    I thought first half was obviously positive but much like in the world cup, everyone gets into really great positions, but no one has the confidence to take a shot and make a play. Ball watching at times is an issue but the scoreline is a bit harsh and im positive about the match as a whole.

    They really held up well first half, but do not forget who you were playing, first half was Koeman letting his B team figur it out. After halftime he had given his corrections and that is why they were so strong. Esp with some of the big guns comming on in that half. Trust the process, it will take a while to build your team

    Seeing as this team has a new coach, has played only lower Concacaf comp this past year, and is clearly going through a leadership change (bye bye Borjan and Vitoria) I think this result was to be expected. I think we'll only really begin to see what this team is made of when we face teams like Peru and Chile and teams closer to our level. If you think we can hang with top teams then you're delusional. We don't have the depth, experience, or even a starting 11 who compares like to like to any team in the top 15 or so in the world. Fans need to take a deep breath and chill on their expectations.

    This is where you realize how far off Canada is. If you think this was the Netherlands top side then there are bigger problems. Canada has players playing in low top flight leagues with the exception of a few. Top nations their players are playing 30 plus high level club games a year and know how to compete. Thankfully FIFA cares only for $$$ and gives a shit about real competition so International football is watered down games. Canada football is at the point of realistically they can compete in CONCACAF and maybe win a tournament 2-10 times, but on a world stage tournament or against CONMEBOL, they can compete for third in a pool or advance to one knockout game in a weak pool.
