I'm French and when everyone was hating school and education for making us read "Les Misérables", I was enjoying bby Enjolras. I studied litterature, and I could have been mad at so much of the adaptation choices but the fact they didn't hold hands still makes me the angriest to this day. That's the one thing I wanted, you can't make it this gay and not make them hold hands tf.
Best part, George played into the subtextual homo-eroticism without telling anyone. I think at some point he told the guy that plays the Army Guard at the beginning of "The Final Battle" bc he played Grantair on stage.
I think Hadley Frasier, who played Grantaire as well, already knew about it because in the 25th anniversary concert of Les Mis, he and the guy playing Enjolras, Ramin Karimloo, played into the subtext a lot during the show. Also helped that they are best friends irl, so they had awesome chemistry.
The way that both of them say ‘Opera’ during Red and Black will always be one of the best things I have ever or will ever see/hear in my life. Thank you Aaron Tveit and George Bladgen for being the best Enjolras and Grantaire ever.
I am surely in a minority, but i liked Russell Crowe's voice. That's just me tho. I know a LOT of people cringe, my dad included, and i respect them. Its not for everyone.
Enjolras and Jean Valjean...have always been the best male characters to play in Les Misérables. They are the roles that always win awards...and require the best singers. Enjolras is also always describe as the most handsome and heroic. Marcus has always been my least favorite.
