- The Chicago Music Exchange and Fishman are proud to present "An Evening with Tosin Abasi". The Animals as Leaders' frontman stopped by our store to give an intimate performance and demonstration of his signature Fishman Fluence pickups.
Tosin Abasi has mastered a wide range of musical styles and techniques, so it should surprise no one that his Fluence Signature Series Pickups feature the most diverse mix of tones packed into any Fluence pickup to date. Always on the cutting edge, Tosin’s tones defy convention. It took Fluence to unlock the sounds that have previously been stuck in Tosin’s head.
“I’ve played active and passive pickups in the past. Fishman Fluence are neither of those things but a combination of both. These pickups fill the space where a lot of traditional pickups seem to let me down. This is literally a new design that is taking off from a space where no other pickup has ever come from.”-Tosin Abasi

One thing that I've notice trough the years hearing and watching Tosin is that the technology for most of the things he wants to portray hasn't been made. Companies are actually trying to catch up to him. In studio you can make him happy and the final product is what he wants, but live is still on the works. Way ahead of his time!
I saw him live at SoFlo Culture Room and they were amazing I was standing front Row and was in front of him his playing and concepts especially from sound and rhythmically are way ahead of the time. He is one of the most gifted guitarists of this era in my opinion. To chase him is to discover a new planet or even world so alien and majestic. Definitely worth getting his new Ibanez 8 string prototype when it hopefully gets put out in market.
damn dude. never viewed him like that. your totally right though.
yes mas I agree...the pickups sounds good but he is innovating for the future, is how you are saying the technology is not made yet to what he relly wants, but is a big step for the future...is like tube amps some peoble are stuck in old technology(I like tube amps) but we have keep innovating to surpass things that we think tha we can't live without it...the future is look to the front, don't look back... (sorry my English grammar is not very good yet but I can talk well I think....XD)
that ibanez sig is never going to happen now.
Not true at all. In fact I would say the technology, specifically the Fractal Axe FX2 system he used to use is a huge impetus for the music that he creates. Hearing trying to pull all this off with effects pedals now is just embarrassing and not nearly as smooth in the transitions that his songs contain compared to when he used AxeFX2, and this video is proof of that.
his last answer is gold
17:35 He knew he was going to release the Abasi guitar brand, but still keeping it under wraps :)
Tosin abasi fan from the distance: "Ur My Hero!!!!"
Tosin abasi: "oh shit."

The very last thing he says in this makes me so happy.
sad thing is that he is just one of a handful of musicians who are able to live from that
It's really inspiring. If you truly want something like breathing air, you can achieve.
It's beautiful
"I like the immediacy of the note arrival" - This is peak Tosin
I'm not even a guitarist and this was still a treat to watch.
This guy is unreal!
such a heart warming guy, just fun to hear and learn from.
I saw Reflux play in 2005. I was 16. Stood right in front of Tosin at the venue, watching him shred was badass
damn how much i would pay to go back in time and see that shit
Got to meet him in Charleston SC when animals as leaders just became a band with the first album...got to me him...javier, navien..Evan brewer... At a small venue...we all smoke a joint!!! Its was sick
I was in chicago 2 days after mr. abasi, seeing plini, david maxim micic and nick johnston. Keep rocking dudes of progressiveness.
Dear Mother of all sound, thats fucking sick
Best person alive
the final question was the best
Honored to have received one of his set lists at a Palatine, IL. show. Still has the neon orange tape around it :)
the composition of everything is genius.
Lmao I'm putting my money on "the composition of everything" being the next album title hahahaha
literally the best pickups out there...the single coil is amazing
I enjoy that you can still hear small flubs in his playing.
It seems like everyone likes when there's the occasional imperfect note because it confirms that he's a human like us and not some kind of string manipulating cyborg.
28:10 Zhivago by Kurt Rosenwinkel. Nice Tosin!
Wow didn't catch that love Kurt..
Guitar is so niceee
Man, this is awesome! Thank you so much!
Thats an hour that flew by!
You’re my herroooo,
I wanna see a video of the process of voicing a pickup! i dont care if its an hour long i want to see it!! TAKE US IN DEPTH!
I want these pickups so badly, hard to find them in the UK though. I could watch these clinics all day and just be drooling all the time! Plus Tosin is a fucking boss, so influential!
Theyre aren't hard to get... Any dealer can order them In.
Miden King I'm getting the 6 string set. Are these pickups as versatile as they claim it to be?
Great stuff man . I want that guitar but my Jackson is fine for now . Problem is now after listening to this guy I wake up in th AM with master of puppets and Janie got a gun looping in my head
Tosin activates ultra instict
My favs!

Madness!
Holy shit, Tosin Abasi knows about Greg Koch! That's awesome.
Ken susi from unearth is chillin by the wall of guitars at the beginning. That is neat.
hes in almost every video of tosin when they involve upselling the fishmans,
54:16 "when your mom comes to watch you at soccer practice"
I’d love a set of these pickups in my Prs!
Erik Hernandez
Those Fishman Fluence joints are sick. Active and compressy
I wish CME had a wider selection of Les Pauls
I Feel like Fishman is like the Apple product of guitar pickups
Nah Fishman are actually worth the money lol
Have you ever Farted before
0:00 Best wish ever!
Was that Ken Susi?

i heard he's from the planet ABASI
27 inches... well that's a big black... guitar.

4:10 40:35
Tosin fucks.
i wish Fishman was doing the same style of solder less systems like EMG, they already have the main parts, is simply the cables and connectors, c,mon man shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhiiiiiiiiiitt
Why I feel like I'm about to fight a boss 😂
aye
1:22 that guy in the background... Isn't that "Elvis", the dude that produced Slash' latest record?
noice
1:08:50 s/o to monobody
yessssss
Tosin should name his firstborn "Djenti".
Did anyone try those pickups?
honestly idk if the pickups make all that much of a difference, maybe I just gotta be there in person to hear it
thereGoMapo the pickups are right after the strings in what decides what your guitar is gonna sound like
Bro these things sound incredible. I was listening to an album of theirs and I literally said WTF PICKUPS ARE THESE, THESE TONES ARE AMAZING. so I looked them up!!
OK, one question, when is the prototype due for formal release?
Sure you’ve seen something about at this point... Tosin has left Ibanez and has founded his own company, Abasi Guitars. He’s set to release details/ dates/ specifications at the 2018 Winter NAMM in Anaheim in just over a week
The grey haired Fishman guy looks a bit like Matt Garstka.
i have to be immature for a moment, about the great koch signature at 34:40
edit:about everything else it's great but the marketing bull is a bit too much but that's what it's all about, i get it mais y beurre épais là you know...
He is really Jimi Hendrix reincarnated.
Except their styles and approaches are completely unrelated
It’s like a Hendrix but from the future?!
He is like a Hendrix from 2800AD....!
@@TheChromeMan3 really?
41:15 Just fucking lets out this filthy dirty little riff with this ridiculous tone, " so that's nice..."
he really loves playing that riff in his recent videos, i wonder if thats going to be a song someday
No, that riff is already taken. Its the riff from Meshuggah song called "obzen".
What type of amp is he using?
Morgan Amps is the brand. Not too sure which model. He has done a video of them.
Tribble Hoarder thanks
Its like listen to a sawmill...most notes wins? Loool
And the dumbest comment of the year goes to.......
Ig it's on how the notes sound, if lots work, then it does. Less notes, serves its purpose, though ig it loses his sort of technical sounds
quit comment on Tosin's blackness??????
