I'm an aerospace student, and I had no idea about alpha helix, I do however somehow linked it with my favorite film Iron Eagle featuring a song by Helix then linking Flume's famous song video Helix showing Alpha helix structures, BOOM! MIND BLOWN!
Thanks for the great videos they are really helping with my revision! When there is a condensation reaction, is the small molecule produced always water? Also, shouldn't it be 2n-1?
sparklyvampirez007 Thanks for your comment! For condensation reactions the small molecule should be water hence the name condensation reaction. This is always produced when two amino acids join. 2 water molecules are produced when 2 amino acids are involved in polymerisation so it is 2nH2O. Please share my channel to others who you think it will help too. You can follow me on twitter @allerytutors to get pre-release information on video releases in the future.
Hi, How is hydrogen bonding exhibited seen as there is no H attached to the O? Should you call that partial hydrogen bonding? Thank you, your videos are great!
Not much both are secondary structures. In alpha helix every backbone N-H group donates a hydrogen bond to the backbone C=O group, which is placed in four sections prior. In beta sheets consist of beta strands connected laterally by at least two or three backbone hydrogen bonds. But they are very similar just the way the bonds are attached.

very helpful channel
+Osama Khan You're welcome!
Really appreciate!

From a Computer Scientist who shows a keen interest in chemistry, this video is very good😁
Can you make a video about DNA?
Hi,

Thank you, your videos are great!
What are the differences between alpha helix and beta pleated sheet?

Allery Chemistry Thank you so much! Your videos are really helpful!
