Evil lurks in the woods on the edge of town as a quiet community is terrorized by a coven of witches. A group of legendary witch hunters are called in to exterminate the agents of darkness that plague them, but are the hunters themselves the true evil?

I love the line “press them with stones to see if they lie” in reference to the man who was crushed to death during the time of the Salem Witch Trials.
I mean I guess the whole song is a reference to the Trials but this specific detail was my favorite lmao
Yes his name was Giles Corey look up the Giles Corey curse
i mean, this can only be the option when you find a witch. spare none, destroy all
I also love "Cast them in water to see if they drown" which was a reference to how they believed witches floated ontop of water is because they believed that, due to trading their souls to Satan, they were denied the Rite of Baptism, which in the mind of the over-religious puritans and other similar zealous religious groups across Europe and America, meant they couldn't go underwater. They believed if someone drowned, they were innocent. Sometimes they did, in fact, fish the person out. Other times they didn't.
@@vampireheart85 "giles corey died last night"
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giles_Corey
tldr If he'd gone to trial he would have lost his stuff, so he refused to plead guilty/not guilty, instead saying "More weight" when prompted. He died without entering a plea, so his descendants got his house and money according to his will, rather than it going to the state (or whatever would have happened). Which, frankly, is one of the most metal things I've ever heard.
I like how this one has a more ominous tone. Like, most of your other songs are like "YAY!!! DEAD STUFF!!! WOOHOO!!!" *(which I do still like)* This one is more of an ominous march, which fits how the people carried out the witchcraft trials felt, and the seriousness of the trials in history.
I also really love how "save our" then merges into the next line about souls
This I agree with. Both are great but I feel the omnious style fits more to the theme and Creature Feature as a whole.
***** Agreed. It's a tad edgy, which I like. This is Creature Feature at their best.
It kind of feels like it could fit with fictional witch hunts, with actual supernatural forces at play.
Ezra Block thanks, I'll fix that.

You know, I never understood how people believed that someone with magical powers would be subdued by some common person to the point of being burned alive...
Iron to bleed
Salt to burn
If all else fails
A sliver of silver should do
A
It depends on how many common people there are
You know that's a good point
Just because they have magic doesn't mean they can take an entire town worth of people.
Logic was never Humanity's strongest point.
In my opinion, this is probably their darkest song to date, or at the very least, the most lyrically brutal.
I dunno, Aim For The Head / Fodder For The Elder Gods / How To Serve Man / Bound and Gagged are all darker than this in their subject matter and lyrics in my opinion.
I think these lyrics are really bland and low quality for what they typically put out. It's like they just copied and pasted a bunch of cliched lines from history textbooks about the Salem trials, there's nothing original about the content or the wording. It seems really stiff and lifeless.
Jaden Daywalt Uh, what kind of freaky textbooks do you read?
Public school.
Jaden Daywalt
I went to public school.....they never said anything about demons on the prowl, or most of the other things in this song.
Well obviously not everything, but there are some things that I have definitely heard before in almost the same wording.
Also the public school comment was mostly a joke, I only went to public school through 7th grade anyway.
"Here there be witches, and all must die" - I get the distinct feeling that the only winners in this conflict are the crows
And the flies. And beetles, and worms.
@@bugloverspiderlover8490 The worms crawl in, the worms crawl out…
@@novamarpo3 the worms play pinnacle on your snout
*pinochle
"Pinnacle" is essentially synonymous with "peak"
There's actually another song (Wake the Dead) that's supposed to be from the witches' perspective on the American Gothic album.. Hell, it even uses some of the same notes (albeit in reversed order)
So in short, this song is about actual witch hunters, but they're clearly monstrous and cruel.
"So in short, this song is about actual witch hunters, but they're clearly monstrous and cruel"
Do you mean "actual witches" as opposed to witch hunters?
The Batter hi
@@LordVader1094 Like witch hunters that are actually catching witches. As opposed to ones hanging, crushing, and torturing innocent people who just were social outcasts.
owo what's this? a OFF fan in my corner of the internet? it's more likely than you think
This is all wrong. This is the Salem Witch Trials, Wake The Dead is a reanimation cult
So dark, creepy, simple like a child's old rhyme. I love it. Absolutely Creature Feature at their very, very best.
this truly is one of your finer works. not too much synthesizer to make it sound like a circus like a deal of your songs, but just enough to say: "hey, we're creature feature, we're still alive... grab your shovel and let us back out?"
I agree! In this one, the synth sounds less "circus" and more "cathedral". Absolute perfection!
I think their first album was more directed to the circus feel, but all their songs sound so dark and morbid, so I love them all!
Day 82: Still not sure if the witch on the picture has yellow, gritted teeth or black teeth with her mouth open.
Sup will! You're awesome!
I think it's the latter. Her throat seems to be either ablaze with the flames burning her body, or the unholy fires powering her dark magic.
She has black teeth. The yellow is fire burning out from inside her.
The latter. Her teeth are black. though i can't tell why her mouth is yellow.
Willcraft Definitely the latter.
Curtis's voice is so haunting it's gave me chils
His voice is perfect for this type of music. And yeah I agree, it chills me hearing him singing these lyrics.
He has the voice of a madman and it also gives me literal chills because he sounds so hypnotizing.
This song is a testament to the power of dark lyrics. In that the evil is not the witches, though clearly stated through the lyrics, but the witch hunters, in the horror of their unreal beliefs. Bravo, Creature Feature, Bravo!
I agree
Not necessarily. You can take it that way, but if the song is singing from the perspective of a world where there are actual witches with dark powers, the sinister element comes from the lyrics directly.
+LordVader1094 I don't care how evil they are this guy singing the song is clearly sadistic and enjoying this a bit too much. Never mind the fact that he sounds dead inside. I mean come on "snip out their tounges before they speak your name" what kind of crazy motherfucker would want to do that? he could have just hung or decapitated them as he sounds like the guy convincing everyone they need the witches dead. I mean what if the witches aren't even hurting anybody and they're just reclusive because society mislabeled them as monsters? Maybe the town in the song which is clearly supposed to be Salem had a large population of witches who were very helpful to the community, but then the singer character came in, became mayor, kidnapped some people and tortured them for fun, then said the witches did it
@115272250372648918230 Snipping out a witch's tongue means they can't curse you or utter the words to a spell.
+LordVader1094
you can take it either way in my opinion, but I'm inclined to agree with Valerie because throughout the song we never hear exactly what wrong the witches did, for all we know, the narrator is condemning innocent people and he's utterly convinced they're witches.
shout out to the witches listening to this song! blessed be!!
This is what i love about creature feature. Their songs are always so unique, and its not like the same thing over and over again. They try new things, change pace, and are always so original. This has to one of my favorite songs.
My ears are bleeding. This is the sound of amazing. I love this song. All of it sounds beautiful, it's all dark, the lyrics are beautiful, Curtis sings amazing as always and the guitar sounds amazing, really fits into the mood, you can see the witches being burned now. Erik sounds dark and ready for a Circus with his keyboard I love it, and I love the Bass and Drums. Creature Feature, you guys killed it and brought it back to life.
Then why are your ears bleeding?
Well said!!
@@yellowoutrage307 bleeding in a good way i guess idk

Saw on my insta that Curtis uploaded a new song. This was my favorite band in middle school, I honestly forgot all about it. Now I’m rewatching all their songs instead of doing my work for college.
This was one of my favorite bands in middle school, too! Halloween has been my favorite holiday for a long time so I loved this band naturally. This song is a lot more chill than I remember it being, but its just as good as I remember.
The only band that i think can actually make Halloween music thank you
Leave it to Creature Feature to be the guy who laughs at everything then one day is serious enough to shut the whole room up
I remember first listening to this song and having an idea for an animation.
Me too. Good thing I can't actually animate
Dreamer511 I'm actually planning on making my idea into a very dark show, once i'm older.
+Lively Bubbs More power to you, I guess

OMGOMG! NEW CREATURE FEATURE SONG! ME AND MY BEST FRIEND JUST FREAKED OUT! THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH! WE LOVE YOU!
(... We're way too overly fangirly.)
ShadowMewssacre hi
Fangirls are mistaken for stalkers
Single price of 99¢? I gave you guys $5 for this on Bandcamp, I love the sound and style of the song so much and I really cannot wait for a new album. There are very few bands out there that make music that I listen to every song on the album over and over again, thank you guys for making such ghoulish music.. Stay creepy, yo.~
You guys have outdone yourself again, congrats! I like how you kept a slower beat in this song than in some of your others, it sounds very heavy and ominous. Thanks a lot for this guys, I love seeing the new work :)
This is easily in my top 5. You guys just keep getting better every year, keep it up.
"Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters", anyone? :D
This is one of my favorite songs by you guys. I love the dark tone and especially the chorus. Keep up the great work guys.
(Reads all the comments) Well, naturally this one is going to be much more dark and lyrically brutal... Most of their song are chipper and based off of horror film genres, while this one, this one is based off of a thing that actually happened! It's about the witch trials that were carried out in Salem, Massachusetts between February of 1692 and May 1693.
+Chibs Minami This song could refer to the many, many witch hunts in Europe. It doesn't have to apply only to Salem.
Ezra Block well yes. What the point I was trying to make is that the song is based off of something that actually happened, regardless which witch hunt it's based off of.
...Does that mean that we can expect to see a Creature Feature song about the Holocaust down the line?
I hope not; I'd be torn between horror at the subject matter and awe at how great they'll make the associated song.
They didnt burn the witches in the Salem Witch trials.
I am so happy this exists!!! THIS MADE MY LIFE COMPLETE. I WAS HOPING FOR A NEW SONG AND HERE IT IS AND IT'S BEAUTIFUL. Thank you
This is the best song ever, it really puts into perspective how evil it seems to use those methods like being burnt at the stake on witches. The people who did this to witches were the evil ones not the witches themself
Witches were not allowed a burial in hallowed ground. Their ashes were usually scattered in a river.
i doubt anyone cares, but since i've seen complaining about the song- this song is highly likely referencing the witch hunts in salem. i love creature feature so i may seem biased, but i highly doubt they meant to offend any pagans/wiccans. i am one as well that practices witchcraft, but it clearly states in the description of this video "but are the hunters themselves the true evil?"
Yeah
madi Christianity needs to die.
@@rhysstromberg2778 ._.
It sheds light on what happened to them, which in a way holds the people who did it accountable, long after it happened. I think that's why they wrote this song; it's ironic and sheds light on humanity's depravity.
Been a fan for a few years now... you guys are amazing and your music never disappoints me!
It's nearly midnight. A storm rages on outside, the flash of lightning streaks through the partially open blinds, casting broken shards of light across the room, giving the appearance of barred windows. A girl lies awake in bed, her pale, freckled face and greasy ginger hair illuminated by the glow from an electronic device, and a pair of black headphones are perched on her head. Thunder accompanies the melodic sounds of a song she has just discovered, by her favourite band. The song is 'here there be witches' by Creature Feature, and oh, how she loves it...
...True story.

Definitely a favorite by you guys. Excellent work, I love it.
I remember refreshing youtube while waiting for this song to come out. 4 years later and this song is still a jam. I haven’t listened to creature feature for a year or two, I gotta get back into them because I forgot how good they were.
This is amazing omg...
I'm literally shaking right now

Это просто ШИКАРНО!
Изумительная песня.

Love the 80's vibe of this song.
This song truly puts into perspective how not only were humanity the true monsters when it came to witches, but that we still can be.
I wish they kept making music I just discovered them ;__;
They do still make music
FanFreakinTastic there coming out with a new single

This song really makes me sad about the history my town has. It’s the town that killed the most people for “being witches”. I love this song a lot tho.
I'm so obsessed with this song. I'm so happy and glad I came across this band, they are absolutely amazing!
Man, they never cease to amaze me with their works.
Finding this band made my day so much better. :)

On a serious note, this song is absolutely incredible. I love the whole 'torches and pitchforks' feel this gives out. Definitely one of the more chilling Creature Feature songs.
Also, here in England, this song came out at the stroke of midnight. Funny that - a song about witches comes out on the witching hour! Spooky.
