How to firmware flash your synscan controller along with details of how to input latitude and longitude etc This is an amended version as the original had an error.
6 Years later, they seemingly added a usb port but its actually a rs232 port with usb converter chip. So if there is a problem with the rs232 on the controller (like in my case) both ports just wont work. So ridiculous, I really wonder what made sky watcher engineers made this decisions.
Fantastic explanation, thankyou very much! My scope has been gathering dust for around 4 years because I couldn't figure out how to align it properly and the manual doesn't really help. I've recently started playing with it again and found this video and it has really helped. I've yet to fiddle with the firmware update (it'll need it as its probably miles out of date now) but have confidence in doing that now too, thanks again...

Hello from Ontario Canada. I recently purchased the AZ NEQ 6 GT. Firmware is 3.33. The supplied memo says I should use 3.35 for best results with the GPS. Is this recommended or essential? And why does Sky watcher insist on NOT supplying the correct cable? What advantages are there to using the GPS? Thank You
@MrDegs18 You put whatever your time zone is, ie difference from GMT, so for UK it would be zero, comments don't allow links but do a search in google for timeanddate. That's all one word, it will take you to a site with all the time zones listed.
Thanks! My adaptor lead to get to USB is faulty, so I had to use the Skywatcher lead with my old XP laptop (it has the 9-pin socket) to successfully flash the eprom. But it still worked ok.
Tried to update but failed. It gets to 1.84% then error. Tells me to turn power of and try again. Error all the time. Now when I power up as normal the HC Is dead. Tried a lower version and still error.
Don't use RS232. In the documentation there's a "press 0 and 8 simultaneously and plug in the USB cable". It only works if the hand controller is not powered on. Find that in the documentation and ignore everything that this video has to say. You can do this all with a USB cable and no RS232 whatsoever.
Seven years on, and STILL we have the 1960's RS232 serial connector on SynScan. Incredible.

I'm having issues with my v5 synscan controller recently, it shows a message caution both axes no response, have you encountered this before?

Have you tried the new SYNSCAN V4 HAND CONTROLLER FIRMWARE V4.05.17 yet? And if so any good?

@westgateslave Try using the non autodetect com port and set it manually.
Your videos should come with the mount it would same a lot of people a great deal of frustration.

I got it! I´ve changed the update speed to lo and it worked.
