  • I had originally purchased the very first 100th anniversary edition Schwinn Cruiser Deluxe that sold in AZ from Landis Cyclery on 7th ave and Indian School Rd in Phooenix, AZ in 1995 (1895 - 1995 One Hundreth Anniverary of Schwinn Bicycles) as I had pre-ordered it and Landis was the premier Schwinn dealership in the valley with only two locations. They stated I was the first to get one. I regretted I ever traded it off 15 years ago. I found this exact bike in Las Vegas 100% original on ebay and did the "buy it now" option and forgone the 18 bids that were already on the bike. The seller stated that he had guys from Prescott, AZ wanting to drive half way to pick it up. They should have done the buy it now themselves. Well, I plan on taking this out maybe a couple times per year, but other than that, the 1995 100th anniversary edition Schwinns shown in this video, a Cruiser Deluxe, and a Cruiser Classic I upgraded after purchase, are going to stay put in my living room or in the basement after I tire of walking around them ;) My mother has the matching ladies version of the black cruiser classic so those are a set. The Cruiser Deluxes selling on the west coast seemed to have the upcoming Phantom Springer Fork compared to Cruiser Deluxes selling more east of the Mississipi that had just the normal all chrome springer fork with the bolt drilled straight thru the cantileiver truss. The Phantom Fork found on the Schwinn Black Phantom that came out late in 1995 has the pivot bolt anchored behind the cantileiver truss. Also the Cruiser Deluxe came with the Phantom neck for the handlebars and the other 100th anniversary bikes only had the more modern 2 peice neck. The pedals for this bike were also the Phantom pedals and it came with the AS stamped bolt heads on the bikes various bolts that stood for Arnold Schwinn also found on the Phantom. The Cruiser Classic only has the more modern Alan Wrench style bolts. There was no female version of the Cruiser Deluxe or the Black Phantom made during the brief reproduction period that lasted about 2 years. Schwinn sold the rest of the reproduction parts and added them to future schwinns up thru the early 2000's before Schwinn ultimately sold out to Walmart and then later to another company. These last two versions of Schwinn do not have near the quality of the original including the repops from the mid 1990's that used the original Schwinn molds from the 1950's for most of the parts.

I bought the black Schwinn Cruiser Classic back in 1997 from Erhhardt Schwinn in Tempe Arizona. I too decked it out with the Phantom repo accessories. Crank/sprocket,handlebar stem, rack, tank, pedals and phantom springer. I had some NOS 26" Schwinn S2 wheels that i bought at a local bike swapmeet for $30.00 for the set and laced the phantom rear hub and phantom front hub to them.

Heavy bikes indeed, I have a dark green version of the '95...but, wow, they have such great momentum inertia...just the mere weight of your leg on the downstroke propels you on the bike with excellent speed.

You know sometimes reproduction parts are not really that bad for a bike if you cannot get the original parts that are in real good shape now even the pre-war bicycles from 1933 to 19 41 of World War II are now saying a lot of reproduction parts I'm not a shame of having a couple of old balloon tire bikes with some reproduction parts but other than that two-wheel transportation like bicycles and motorcycles as such are really when you think of it AR art on Wheels you can ride with pride.
