      For one frame that seems a little high, 3 times what I paid for the frame, they must be very rare. But what you does not answer my question I wrote. Is what I say correct and maybe somebody else may know,

    I got the 53 Black Phantom frame klunkered out.

      @JeffreyRosenlund I've tried to make a klunker. But Lil by Lil. I keep adding original parts and it becomes a restoration. 😅

    I had one of those myself to a 1950 Schwinn Black Phantom it looks just about as nice as yours but I did not need to replace anything because I figure that small little dents on the fender little slight bit of patina you just got to keep it original and enjoy it when riding it here's a couple of secrets that you don't know about your Phantom your Phantom was originally a b 607 Otto cycle but back in November in 1949 when they introduced this bike okay they added chrome plating to the fenders and to the tank and they use the seat the seat went way back that particular model in use back in 1948 and the same thing goes for the stop-and-go tail light rack that you have on your 54 Phantom and as for the pedals they use those pedals the as Deluxe pedals made by the Torrington company were used all the way back to 1947 and ask for the Schwinn tubular S2 rims you can take those all the way back to 1947 or as late in 1946 now for the front wheel brake okay that model was introduced in 1940 up until 1945 now 1946 was just slightly improved where you will look on your Hub shelf that the brake dust covers snap into the Hub shell whereas compared to anything prior to 1946 where the dust covers went on to the cones and did not rotate with the Hub oh and I think the reason why you're able to ride that bike without the key in the fork is I believe your lock mechanism might be broken or did you were able to take a look in the lock to see if your key is still stuck in there inside what the key tab broken off that can be fixed oh and here's one little secret now do you notice at the bottom of the seat tube that's right next to the bottom bracket on the decal that patent number dates back all the way to 1938 when Schwinn came out with their first model cantilever framed b607 which means back in 1938 all the way up until I'm going to say probably up until mid or late 50s that patent number meaning of the bicycle manufacturers could not copy that frame design but other than that you've got a very beautiful bike I just wanted to share a little tidbits of information on that bike for you.

      @garyquail4996 no, it had no key. I picked the lock and just keep it unlocked. I have another lock and key but I want to keep the original lock numbers and maybe just get a key made.

      @@Schwinn_Addiction that must have been one heck of a difficult job to pull that key out while the bikes in the riding position I've got a hand it to you though.

    Do you have a kick back shifter ?

    • @Schwinn_Addiction
      @Schwinn_Addiction  Місяць тому

      @Billy-cs4cc no, my phantom only had the singles speed. I could have added the Red band 2 speed kick back.
