this is an excellent vid and all areas concisely explained - thank you very much!! Purchased a caravan and it came with this type of awning. I will be putting it up this tuesday as we will be living on this pitch for 4 months while we renovate our cottage. The only slight problem i can forsee is the campsite is on a hill and as a result, will have to pitch the awning on a slope. Just hope theres enough 'give' to cater for the height disparrency...
We have the kalari 520 and I was really relieved to hear you say it took you about 2 hours to put up the first time, I thought I was the only one....lol
They are not the easiest of awnings to put up! we have found putting the pegs in at the back and 2 at the front corners to get the shape first before pumping up is better. Thanks for comments and watching, cheers Martin 👍
Well executed video. Trying to find size for the airbeam that sits closest to the front of the caravan any information would be great it is also the kalari 2 .
Hi Martin, just checking out your Vango Awning video as we just bought one at the Scottish Show ( Braemar 111- 400). Excellent review and really helpful.. well done yet again 👍 Cheers Rob
Thanks for the feedback and watching. We are really impressed with our Vango awning, there have never been any condensation issues which I have had with others, Great awning. 👍
It was a close call between the Vango & Kampa, I do like the Kampa 1 point pump up. In the end it was down to price as the Vango was the older version we got a better deal. cheers 👍
Good decision, I like what you have there, the choice of door position and the style looks really nice. We got a nearly new Outdoor Revolution which Sue liked but I am not keen on. May change it next year 😊
We have the Vango Varkala air awning it is a great piece of kit it is not quite as heavy as the Kalahari we too were torn between Vango and Kampa the zip curtains swung it for us also heard a few complaints about condensation in the Kampa
Hi Martin know this is an older post but I have a question has your the only one I seem to see with same awing as I do . kalari 420 this may seem a silly question but regarding you vango carpet does it fit the full length of awing ie 420 or is it a little shorter I’m trying to work out if I’d been given wrong carpet do you know if the straight part of your carpet against caravan is 420 or 380 has mines only measures 380 Got in touch with vango they said there should be a gap around the edge but won’t confirm actual size of carpet for the kalari 420 cheers mark
Hi Mark, There is a gap around the outer edge of our carpet, it also depends if you get the awning outer uprights straight. I would say 380 sounds about right as 420 is the outside measurement. hope that helps, Martin
The one thing that worries me is the connection between awning and caravan and I think your film has answered it , still not sure which one to go for at present air or the pole awning but thanks for sharing the film
I think they are both good it’s just personal preference. If the air awning sits over a window there can be gaps but a lot of newer vans have flushed windows. 👍
We have a breathable footprint sheet, not sure where we got it from but would shop around as they can be pricey. Some sites will request that you use them for grass pitches. Hope that helps, enjoy the awning when you can use it! Thanks for comments and watching 🙂
Hi Bryn, has taken us a while to get used to putting it up correctly, however it fits much better on the Bailey we now have. Thanks for comments and watching. Cheers Martin 👍
Have you tried the Kampa easy awning pulley We have checked all the other pulleys for awning out one where you use leg to pull it until you end up on your rear end, because foot part broke lol The kampa one is great makes putting up vango kalari a doddle Can check it out on you tube channels Awning on rail in less than 3min
Hi Pat & David, The awning is doing great. We’ve had no problems with it and it stood up well in a big thunderstorm. The only issue we have is that it’s heavy and takes a bit of effort putting it on the rail. No problems with condensation or leaks. Cheers Martin
The Caravan Nut thanks Martin, is the roof a substantial fabric, do you have the roof lining, would it be ok to use it outside of summer touring, hope you don’t mind my questions, just don’t want to get it wrong again🤔
The roof - from vango website: Canvas Material: Vango Sentinel Luxe 600 Double Ripstop Fabric, , 6000mm Hydrostatic Head. It seems a thinker material than other awnings I’ve seen and we don’t have a roof liner as we’ve not had any condensation issues. But like I said before look at the weights as it can be heavy. Ours is the 420 version. Martin
We have a CampTech Airdream 260 inflatable porch awning tried it when we went to Blackpool for 2 days just as a test bought on ebay for £150 so a bargain I think, going to Skipsea Sands in a couple of weeks for 3 nights then end of October a week at Tummel Valley near Glasgow so will get a good test then
That was a bargain, we have a smaller Sunncamp porch awning we take for shorter stays. Our first caravan outing was Skipsea sands, from what I remember it was good. Thanks for watching, Martin 🙂

That’s one of the downsides to an air awning, can’t adjust the beams. Hope you manage to get it sorted.
Thanks for comments and watching 👍

@@TheCaravanNut ....I noticed that in yours and a few other Vids. Will deffo try that in the future.

Not sure on the beam, try Tent Valeting Services in Farnworth, they might be able to help. Cheers

I am a fan of Kampa but I have to say this Vango looks really good. Thanks for sharing. 👍🏻🙂

I had heard about the condensation, the thicker material in the Vango helps to stop it.
We have the Kalari and was great to watch to get a few tips on putting it up, getting better each time :-)
Thanks for watching, we’re still trying to get it right, it’s different every time we use it!
I can agree with that, I don't think we've put it up the same twice
I think the pitch needs to be completely level for it to sit right on the van.
Yeah, definitely. We are going to try and film putting up the awning next trip out so we will see how it goes.
I thought about doing that but I haven’t got a ‘bleep’ machine, lots of bleeps!

Great video good info ... what ground sheet have you used under the carpet ? We have just bought the same awning 😁

Cheers Kev 👍
Another great info vid! not having a modern awning watching you descrice yours, I want one?

Awning on rail in less than 3min
I have seen it, I’m going to the Manchester show this weekend so might see if I can pick one up. Thanks for the comments and watching. 😊
Looks like a nice strong awning... good video ;))
We were really surprised how strong it is, the winds were really high last week in Pwllheli and it didn’t budge.
Martin how has your awning performed, we are thinking of changing from our Kampa Rally Pro, would appreciate your thoughts

The Caravan Nut thanks Martin great help, keep safe👍
You'll find it easier if you attach from the front because you don't have to drag it around the 90 degree bend at the back
Cheers, will do that next time. 👍
