Been wondering if it's going to be a Mackie, an Aldo or this Alesis. Your video here won me over! The Alesis has all the features I need and more, plus the price is great! Thanks Robin.
I used this mix for past few years. It is very good for the money. I would just wish it enabled me to use reverb and delay effects together..and also some compressor option would be great.
Do you think the sound quality on a live stream could be affected by the USB cable? The sound quality of my livestreams has decreased, and I wonder if it is because of the USB cable or Windows sound settings. I plugged my old Behringer UCA202 to OBS and the sound is waaaaaay better than the Alesis. However, when I bought the Alesis, the sound was really nice, clear and strong, now it's weak and when there are high frequencies such as trumpets during a livestream, the signal gets weaker. I plugged my headphones to the headphone jack of the Alesis and the sound is great.
Hello, I loved your interview and description was awesome! I looking into purchasing this unit for live music. Can this be used as that kind of mixer(connected to powered speaker) and not have to worry about computer and the usb connection?? Really cheap right now!!
How would I play a backing track from a laptop, through an acoustic guitar amplifier (Roland) I have used the headphone socket on laptop but don't know where to plug in the other two jacks on the cable, also need to be able to control volume of backing track, sorry if this confusing, but as you can probably see I am new to this
You plug one end into the headphone of the laptop then it should split into two 1/4" TS cables, you plug one into L and one into R above channel 5/6 on the mixer (just above where it says miltimix8, to the right of channel 4) and that will give you the control to adjust the laptop music from there in using the mixer where it says Channel 5/6
@@Ralph_Baric_PhD_C2019 Thanks after some thought I went for a Zoom L-20 in the end as this fitted my budget (what budget, lol) and needs 🙂 Looked at most options, Soundcraft Signature MultiTrack, Tascam Model 16, Behringer XR18 (no panel controls) , Zoom L-20r, very limited panel controls. Then looked at old mixers with either direct outs or Inserts as a first stage then a Audio Interface with ADAT expansion. Spent about a month running thru options.
Hi there, anyone tell me how to record audio through usb cable, I connected with USB to MacBook input source is showing USB Microphone but it’s inactive, Thanks in Advance
@@TamzidulIslamkanon First press main to monitor button and test if you can hear your speech in headphones or speakers connected to monitor channel. If you are using Condenser microphone, you will need phantom power which can be found next to power button, at behind the unit (yea, it is bit odd location for phantom power). If you can hear your microphone just fine, then go to sound settings on your mac, hold command and click the microphone (or right click the mic) and choose "activate" option. Also set it as default input device. You will need to connect Condencer microphone (which requires phantom power) or Dynamic microphone (doesn't require phantom power, but can require external pre-amp or fathead) with XLR cable.
This is all great info, thanks. I have the multimix 8 showing up in a few days. What I need to know is how am I supposed to dial everything in. I have volume control and echo effect on my wireless mics. I’m going to have gains, 3 band (4?) eq, volume control and it looks like just a host of other stuff on the board. I have gain, 2 band eq and volume control on my PA speaker. I run karaoke from KaraFun on a laptop so there is computer volume to consider as well. I do have one wired mic, so I guess that will go straight into the board via XLR but sometimes the wireless mics are just more convenient, I guess by 1/4 jack (or should I adapt it to XLR?). Where does everything need to be set so I have only to mess with the board to make adjustments?
I don't think it does, however there is another variety of this mixer which does. I have one. It is the Alesis MultiMix 8 USB FX 2.0 I have used it for several recording sessions. Supports up to 8 channels multi track recording. 4 mono and 2 stereo pairs.
@@jessebusser2465 I consider one stereo out as not multi track. No the mix 8 does not. (it only has a stereo output)(technically "multi" track) If you want digital out spdif etc that can pipe each channel, ie mic, guitar, piano x2, other x2 as separate entities it can only be done with the 12 or 14 channel Alesis models. According to the instruction book.

Great Mixer. I have this unit and have been very pleased with it.
Seems like a solid mixer. Do you think this is one of the best you can find for the $100-200 range? Do you have any other recommendations?

Can this be used to record drums ? Assuming 4 mics
Can I divide or part the stereo signal, for example channel 1 metronome and channel 2 music?
is the efx send on each channel only for the internal efx or does using external efx overide the internal
Thanks for review. Does this also let the channels be sent individually to the PC rather than just the main (multitrack) ?

Any answer to this question? Does it record multitract to DAT? Planning to use this for my drums with mics. Thanks
Is it noisy when used for live sound?
CAUTION: DO NOT use 48V on ribbon mics.
Hey there, first of all, great video !!! I just got a quick question, while recording via USB does the Alesis creates separate mixing tracks ?
no, but OBS and many other recording software allows you to record microphone and computer sounds on separate tracks.

Hello, my pc doesn't recognize alesis, does anyone have the drivers???
How could you incorporate a wireless mic like the Rode Go II or DJI Wireless Mic???
why 5/6 and 7/8 are in the same column as oposed to 1 to 4?
Because they are stereo.
I just got this until in brand new for $34 from Salvation Army today
