      Google Home's voice recognition sucks-all-the-d**ks and is highly over rated. Even with it switched on your mates can come to your house and piss about with everything on your account. Its full of shit!
      Facial recognition .. Yeah
      Voice recognition .. No
      From when someone can stand in your porch and tell Google to open your door via that Google Home device in your Hallway, you just know its totally unreliable.

    In all truth, Google has a great product on paper! But for day-to-day use in my area it's not dependable too many outages. Routines sometimes run on time sometimes do not. That's why I took out a complete Google system. And bought an Alexa system. There are a lot of differences in price you are right to that's something you didn't cover! Google is a lot cheaper on the Shelf easier to get! In the beginning I had great luck with Google but it kept getting worse and worse. They may get their act together. And another thing you should judge on is the fact you can have multiple wake words. All In they both are excellent products. But each person should realize that reliability in your day-to-day life is the most important thing. Especially if you must depend on it. Once again great review and you are very very honest and true to both products. and I'm sorry I've had said probably too much. I want to say one last thing that you must judge order on both products look for customer service see who's got the best and who will give you an answer.

      Hello Beryl, Thank you very much. I do appreciate the nice comment and kind words. Thank you also for sharing your thoughts on this. Echoes have been very intuitive and do offer a lot. Both are great devices. But you do get more options in my opinion with the echoes. Like you said you get the multiple awake words. I’m sorry to hear that the Google system kept getting worse for you. I do think you make a great point about checking out the customer service for both devices. Thank you for sharing your experience and insight. It is appreciated and good for myself and others to hear. Thank you for checking out the video. Have a great day.

I do really like that Amazon keeps improving and adding new features all the time. They have been great with improving the functionality of these devices as time goes on. I just had to give the win to Google home with their command option. It pains me to have to do it. But what kind of tech guy would I be if I can’t knowledge what the other side does correctly. 😀. @@CraigsTechTalk I'm glad you did the comparison with a more subjective view and hopefully some one at Amazon will take not and your constructive criticism will help spark Amazon to add more features. I think Alexa is leading the industry currently with Google in a close second so Amazon will have to keep making good improvements to the platform to hold on the their marketshare they enjoy now which is a good thing for us the consumer. keep up the great work.

    I want to start off by saying I am a huge Google fan however I do own both Google and Alexa devices. In my personal opinion I strongly believe that Amazon would be the king of the digital assistants if it used the Google browser instead of Bing. Now as for triggering routines I prefer Alexa for one reason only and that's the ability to have devices trigger routines such as door & motion sensors. Case in point, we have firearms and children. So we have a gun cabinet that they do not have access to but for the additional level of safety I added a door sensor to it so in the highly unlikely event they did gain access to it the door sensor triggers a routine and sends me an instant notification and triggers an audible response from my Alexa devices. ( The gun cabinet is open.) Google to my knowledge as of the time I'm writing this does not have this feature. (Yet). So Alexa wins for me in this category. I love both the Google & Echo devices and I'm excited to see what other wonders these two will be coming out with in the future.

    Good information as I’m thinking of leaving the echo system even though I’m several devices into it over several years now. My main problem with the Amazon echo system is that the tech department won’t listen to simple requests and they refuse to work with me on problems I’ve encountered over the years. Their attitude is take it as it is and that’s just how it goes. Aside from the devices not hearing all that well and simply not hearing or responding appropriately when there are fans going or music playing I can’t get the tech department to understand that I do not want to hear the device repeat back to me the name of a song that I request and add the service it’s playing from. Say I request it play the song “I’m walking on sunshine” I just want it to play the song but instead Alexa says “ here’s I’m walking on sunshine by Katrina and the Waves playing on Amazon music”. I don’t want to hear all of this. I’ve explained to the tech department that I’m paying for the devices plus I’m paying extra for the Amazon music service so I should be able to at least turn this announcement off but they refuse to listen or provide this ability. Not only this but they are adding suggestions after each song that I don’t need to hear as I already am aware of its ability. These new announcements go like this, Alexa, play “Ring of Fire” by Johnny Cash. Song plays after announcement then Alexa says “did you know that I can play more songs from this album.....going on to give directions on how to make it happen”. It does this even though I’ve turned off all such announcements in the Amazon app. This type of intrusion and control over my system is why I’m leaving Amazon.

    Alexa is more chatty, personal, casual voice. I really like her. But it is most usefull only if you are deep into the Amazon ecosystem and a Prime member. Google Home, is more powerful overall, professional sounding. It also is much more seamlessly integrated with ones Android phone, especially if you use a Pixel phone. Does the Google home, have the temperature sensor the newest Echo Plus has? That was one thing that drew me to return the dot, and get the Plus instead, in addition to the size and speaker difference without having to connect to a BT source to improve audio quality, in terms of giving the sound more range. I'll mess around with routines on the Echo, I'm still learning what I can do with it, and this is something I haven't tried yet. The other thing is, I mainly use, Gmail, and UA-cam from Google, true my Sony 4k TV runs android, but Alexa has a skill to connect to that, as well as Gmail.

    I really don't understand why anyone cares what the traffic is like. If you need to be at work for 08:00 you have to get in the car a a specific time anyway. Knowing traffic is heavy gives you the option to take an alternate route, but in my area if traffic is bad on one route, the alternate route is traffic heavy too because everyone is taking it as well.

    I don't like the google home routines at all, because it gives an audio response to every single command you add to the routine. @dorothycho2467 5 років тому +3

    Hey Craig! I like your decision! When you think about the two, both are great! But Google Home really is more versatile. But I also like to link them together for routines. If I say "Good morning" to Alexa, Alexa will tell Google Assistant to turn on the smart switch that's only Google Home compatible. Then she'll give me the fact of the day, then tell my HomePod to play my playlist. This is very convenient and engages your other devices within the routine. I could even have Alexa trigger a routine on Google Home, and Google Home can trigger a routine on Echo. Also... you can use routines to annoy people. LOL. I have a friend who hates rap music, and I don't like how he always plays Korean dramas and K-pop around me, just because I'm Korean. So what do I do? I ask Alexa to play K-pop, and Alexa tells him she's going to play K-pop... and sooner or later, he's listening to Snoop Dogg or Eminem. That's always been fun to do LOL.

    Except for getting your view numbers up, I'm not sure why you have to try to make it either/or. Why not both? This isn't like buying a car, it's about buying one sub-$50 device vs another. I have both in every area of my house. Of course, you can have one device give a verbal command to the other and trigger a routine that way. Just to be clear, I like your channel and your videos and do understand why so many UA-camrs do the which is best kind of videos. For once I'd love to see someone like you do a video on why you want both.

    • @CraigsTechTalk
      @CraigsTechTalk  5 років тому

      Hello Hugh, I own both and would recommend people buy both. Especially since they are so reasonably price and both have their strength‘s. But the fact is people aren’t going to buy both. These videos have nothing to do with getting numbers up. My point in making these videos to show what features the different devices offer as thoroughly as I can. For example this video covers almost every feature available for a routine. Then the viewer can make a decision on what would be the better device for them. I try to make it fun with a competition and share my thoughts on what device is stronger in certain areas for those people who do want to hear my opinion. Although I use Echo’s more I want to make a fair video for those on the fence and for echo or google users to see what the other side brings to the table. At the end of the day it’s about sharing as much information that I think might be helpful in the areas I cover. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and watching. Have a great day.

A while back I spent a long time trying to figure out how to get my Roomba to start cleaning as part of my good morning routine, but I was disappointed when I couldn't because that was a skill rather than a device. I tried using the wait part on the Alexa by having it use my location and when I'm coming home after 5 it would turn on my lights and then wait 2 minutes (the time for me to walk in) and welcome me home but the location didn't seem to work too well. So now I just turn them on from using the Google assistant on my phone when I get close to my house. I'm interested to see what features they both come up with!

    Google really needs to improve their routines. I can't believe there isn't a "wait" feature

      Hello Tom, it is surprising that there is no wait feature with Google. I am surprised also that Amazon has not taken the command feature the Google does well. Hopefully they will each take with the other has an offer a better device. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and watch him. Have a great day.
