Best era, best line up and of course one of the best Black/Thrash albums ever recorded for the mighty Absu! The track begins and destroys everything on its way from the start to the finish. Hear the thunder roll !!!
It took me far too long to discover this band. But I found them thanks to “The Gold Torques of Ulaid” being included as the closing track on a black metal compilation and I’ve been digging for more and more ever since. Absolute gods and Proscriptor is the absolute percussion demigod of all time
What i love SO fucking much about ABSU is the Raw fucking passion. look at proscriptor, he is putting so much into his drumming you see it on his face, its unreal just how much love and respect he (and the rest of absu) has for their music. i cant help but feel the same love and respect for ABSU's music. HAIL ABSU! MYTHOLOGICAL OCCULT METAL!!!
Love the facts 3 man band Their drummer also sings... Grateful he didn't get drafted to Slayer. We would've never had this amazing band. First song I stumbled upon was Sword of Destiny
Since YourMetalTV apparently own the rights to the Manannán video (I tried uploading my own 'remaster', youtube matched the media to this upload and blocked it), could you please upload a HQ version? There is not a single upload anywhere on the internet of decent quality. Seriously, this sounds like it's being played on a cell phone. And it looks even worse.
I know Absu are from Texas but if I had to guess without knowing I would have said European for sure. Their sound strikes me as very atypically American. Does anyone agree? Great track either way.
@@equitantI should probably do some more digging for information on these things but I'm very interested in the whole backstory and history of Absu. You guys have been one of my all-time favourites since I first discovered your old band around 20 years ago. Your music is pure magick! Eternal thanks for all of the fiercely aggressive riffs and epic ideas you've contributed!! You all are heroes and I will do my best to preserve the albums for the rest of eternity.

I heard "Tara" when I was only starting learning about metal (after long listening to all forms of techno). I was really impressed by incredible drums here. When I asked on metal forums about this and what are the techniques and which bands were doing the same, nobody even cared to reply about Proscriptor :( Now I understood that their albums were really outstanding in that regard and my question was more than valid. Not much interesting trivia, but anyway :D
Don't let this madman near a drum kit! But seriously, Proscriptor is probably the most exiting, crazy, and explosive drummer I've ever heard in metal (and believe me I've heard a lot of 'em). The blend of technical proficiency and sheer madness inducing violence done to the kit is simply amazing. Without him, Absu would be a decent band, and now they're fucking great.
This vid was my intro to Absu several years ago. I was just like ".... oO what the fuck..." and i was way confused that the drummer would randomly sing while he was playing LOL... oh if i only knew haha.
Best music video of all time. They are the last of the druids! They should replace all those teen mom TV shows on MTV with only this song and music video.
Woaw... SO extreme and technical and esoteric and it never stops ! Awesome masterpiece.
Best era, best line up and of course one of the best Black/Thrash albums ever recorded for the mighty Absu!
The track begins and destroys everything on its way from the start to the finish. Hear the thunder roll !!!
That silver face is just awesome!
This whole vid reminds me of Horslips
Ouch, no rest till the end, awesome tracks from an awesome band. The drummer also sings !!!!

No doubt best band from Texas.
Hear the thunder roll, I am Manannan. .

Proscriptor is so fucking good. Wow. And the riffs are so precise and technical. Fucking incredible
ABSU is USBM Icons cheers
Que nostalgia, acabei de lembrar e busquei aqui para assistir. Excelente.
I am stunned and impressed each and every time when i listen and watch to this masterpiece.

5 years later, still wishing for a HQ upload of this.

This song still rocks!
I wonder if the lower quality of the video makes it harder for people to realize that this isnt the Tara version of Mannanan.
I know Absu are from Texas but if I had to guess without knowing I would have said European for sure. Their sound strikes me as very atypically American. Does anyone agree?
Great track either way.
Fredrik Svensson this was our whole goal. And influenced by more Euro bands than any American ones.

The chaotic way of his music is so unique, hail PROSCRIPTOR

03:23 Touch !!!
Love how comfortable Proscriptor is looking while drumming, while the other two are clearly struggling :D
+Bzzzpuk Well, he is one of the best drummers ever, possibly even the very avatar of the God of Drumming if such an entity exists.
I visit this video on regular basis just for this comment

I love the song though
ABSU ALWAYS HAILED THE 80S MASTERS

Silver corpse-paint FTW!!!
It's not corpsepaint, it's traditional Celtic ceremony paint (can't remember the name)
They must be alchemist, only them can play with silver and fire, without getting hurt!

@@lilbubbamane Actually it was around '97 or 98. It was featured on an EP before "Tara" was released.
@@guillotine684 '98 for the ep and the video was part of a VHS comp of the same name which included this video.
