What a great tutorial. You have given me a motivation boost to tackle my plastic soldier British 1/72 Shermans for Battle Group Normandy. Some great weathering and dry brushing tips. Keep em coming !
Great Video. I just built five Sherman tanks this week and found that the treads didn't fit tight, like you found. On the last tank I glued the tracks on first then glued the front sprocket on and it worked great. No space and lined up.
Great tutorial. I followed your lead and my US tanks are now the envy of my gaming group... Thanks for your time and for sharing your experience and expertise!! Bob T.
Can't use "any" mainly because it's not really a wax and most others are. It's an acrylic, the same as your paints. It's just a much cheaper option than buying a tiny bottle for gloss from your paint manufacturer. I airbrush it, but brushing works too.
@Sonnypjim09 The 15mm Sherman are 5.5cm by 2.5cm. I have a 1/72 one and it's 8cm by 3.8cm. Most 15mm figs are pretty crappy, but Plastic Soldier Co. makes nice detailed 15mm German and Russian infantry, with Americans on the way. No word of British, though. They do have Brits in 1/72 scale.
@ThePaintingClinic Thanks for the quick and enlightening response. Just checked on their site, it seems the British late war 15mm infantry are "in the pipeline" so hopefully out soon. :) After spending some time looking around on UA-cam/Google, the 15mm German & Soviet infantry do look very well detailed for their size as you said. I think you have helped with my decision (In part to the awesome looking Shermans you painted!) Gonna go for 15mm scale I think. Thanks!
Actually, Allied Command set out a combat field manual saying that mounting spare treads or sandbags infront of your tank did little to stop a shell....
Insanely great detail with these minis! I plan on collecting either 15mm scale or 20mm (1/72nd) scale sometime soon - most likely a British armoured company. But torn between what to collect in scale... The 15mm Shermans look around 6.5cm in length and around 3cm wide. Are they really that big? If so, may go for them instead of 20mm, was not wanting to get miniatures with barely any detail (was concerned about the infantry in 15mm) but the tanks and crew look fine in this vid.
Awesome work. I wish youtube still used the Star rating system so I could give you 5! I've been on the fence about starting FoW I want to do something a bit different so I'm thinking about doing a British armored car company. If you have a Staghound or Daimler lying around and want to do a tutorial I'd appreciate it.
Are you wiping the wash off the tank with dry cotton bud? It looks dry. Thought maybe you had some nail polish remover on there. I've used that before to wipe wash from a model.
Just an esthetic tip: When applying the flag, try to put it on the side of the vehicle so it looks like it is moving forward into battle. Never retreating :)
Uhm I used vallejo dark wash and the q-tips do nothing to take the wash off, is there a reason for this and if so how can i take it off in a controlled manner without stripping the paint underneath?
Did you glue two painted surfaces together or do you scrape paint away? Reason I ask is, I purchased that Extra Thin Cement you use and am not sure what it's capable of. Great video
What is the specific brand of floor wax you use? Incredible job on those tanks btw! I just saw your video and now you have me wanting to buy my own set and paint them!
I'm curious, and my apologies for not knowing but is it scented like pine or lemon? lol, or non scented? And if you use it in your airbrush is it easy clean up like acrylic paints? Thanks for the reply btw.
I fail to see how sound quality would effect any copyright issues here, since the only background music is the intro which has been in virtually -all- of your other videos with no issue...
Yes, sort of... Without the clear coat the wash would stain the paint and less would come off. It will still come off, just not to the same degree as if you clear coat first.
the video is great, but we do not know English we would do well to insert panels with the steps you follow to read it and know that using paintings, mixed ... thanks
It smells like enamel thinner, so it is stinky. However we're talking about a very small quantity. Your roommate may complain for 30 mins, but I doubt the landlord would.

I splatted some brown paint on 15mm Stuarts V. Makes it look a lot nicer seeing as I just painted them green first.
@pbdimitri Yes, with Vallejo primer and an airbrush.
Just a standard one with a hex palm rest. You can get micro drills cheap on Amazon. Check out my pinning vid.
Very interesting video. You certainly know how to put those models together. Good colour info too. Thanks.
Great video that helped me since as I'm just starting my 15mm pieces
@lukazila111 True, but they were not always there. I've done that to tanks before, but I was running a little low on decals.
@Luk4zguy97 Yes. Model and Game Color line.
If it's lighter in color than your basecoat, yes, but I don't know what color or brand to which you refer.
Really great video! Very informative and a job well done. Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge and talents.
Brilliant, really nice work. I'm learning a lot from your videos. Thank you
@gyrusse 10 max. Putting together a late war list and US get crappy tanks so I have to add more infantry.
This video earned you a new subscriber!
Thanks for this, it inspired me to use this method with my Sherman tanks.
Amazing detail. Good job.
Yes.
Never mind brown velvet . Could not get video to play when I originally asked ..great stuff keep it up
@ThePaintingClinic

Nice video as always.... learning somting new every time from watching....

Nice work on these.
Stunning work!
i love your 15 mm models!
very very nice ty my friend will watch agin and agin loved it and paint job well done
Nie job man. Really looks bigger than 15mm. Nice turntable too. :)
Was anyone else having trouble with the sound
I am too
There were copyright issues - he did the best he could
Ethan Ton thanks for letting me know
Are you wiping the wash off the tank with dry cotton bud? It looks dry.
Thought maybe you had some nail polish remover on there. I've used that before to wipe wash from a model.
I was just wondering, what type of glue do you use to assemble plasic tanks? If it is plastic glue, what brand would you recommend?
+Justin YongZH Tamiya Extra Thin plastic cement.
Were can I get Vallejo paints from because i can't find them? Love your videos, very in-depth.
Just an esthetic tip: When applying the flag, try to put it on the side of the vehicle so it looks like it is moving forward into battle. Never retreating :)
CapitalNick well it's up to him
I've seen lots and lots of tank mini's on youtube, but these are in a league of their own... Excellent work there! =)
BTW Artists prerogative ftw! ;)
It's not diluted. Use it straight out of the bottle.
round thing's are air vents. nice builds.
wow.... I wish i knew how to use/make a wash to make my german panther 1/56 model look more realistic. My tank is Sand dune beige or something
Uhm I used vallejo dark wash and the q-tips do nothing to take the wash off, is there a reason for this and if so how can i take it off in a controlled manner without stripping the paint underneath?
I believe so.
Good video. You mentioned using Future floor wax for the gloss coats. What is the dilution you used?
What colours references do you use to paint tank tracks? Flat brown and olive grab?
reminds me of when I put together revell tanks as a kid. I dont think none of them still exist tho.
Great video it will help me a lot. :)
Hey ThePaintingClinic can you do a video on how to paint US WW2 M10 Tank Destroyer.
Thanks Vince
Nice instructional video, very informative.
Thanks.
Excellent video!
Is there something special about that floor wax or can i use any? And do you just paint it on with a brush?
Should you put another future gloss coat between the two brown washes?
It's not necessary.
can you do a tutorial on how to paint german camo on a Stug.
you can make a list of what colors you use?
Nice work....How many tanks do you need to complete?
when do you do something more flames of war?
Do you airbrush or paint on the future floor wax?
Nice tutorial, can't wait to see more!
Are you planning on doing other 15mm videos? (did anyone say "germans"?)
outstanding.....................stuff!
do you think can i remove acrylic wash with cotton swab like you? or i need different type such enamel wash?
You can't remove an acrylic wash once it dries.
WOW, you do excellent wok bro! I love your attention to detail.
What pin vise do you use and if i can ask, where do you get your very small bits?
Did you glue two painted surfaces together or do you scrape paint away? Reason I ask is, I purchased that Extra Thin Cement you use and am not sure what it's capable of. Great video
Scrape the paint away. It interferes with the bond.
What are the colors that you use the brush to dry? thanks
What is the specific brand of floor wax you use? Incredible job on those tanks btw! I just saw your video and now you have me wanting to buy my own set and paint them!
Jorge Mateos Pledge.
I'm curious, and my apologies for not knowing but is it scented like pine or lemon? lol, or non scented? And if you use it in your airbrush is it easy clean up like acrylic paints? Thanks for the reply btw.
Jorge Mateos It doesn't have any added scent. You need to clean your airbrush well afterwards or it will lock your needle.
Thanks!
Can you post the website for the decals you used? I've tried to search for 1d4 enterprises, and not getting the right results :)
www.i-94enterprises.com/
Which company makes these models?
What color green and brand is that ? I have a walker 41 I am getting ready to build
you using Valejo paints?
What size bit do you use?
were they primed at all first??
Will plastic glue work?
I fail to see how sound quality would effect any copyright issues here, since the only background music is the intro which has been in virtually -all- of your other videos with no issue...
There WAS music thru the whole thing. UA-cam has tools that can scrub out the copyrighted parts.
Is it necessary to use an enamel wash over the clear coat for it to wipe off like that?
Yes, sort of... Without the clear coat the wash would stain the paint and less would come off. It will still come off, just not to the same degree as if you clear coat first.
@GreyFergy101 As stated, Plastic Soldier Company.
Can i Paint the british shermans tanks like this?
+Alan Andrés Yes.
what is the name of kit and how much it costs?
Where do you purchase your models? my local model store doesn't have a very, fantastic selection
Brookhurst Hobbies.
ThePaintingClinic thanks!! btw youre extremely talented !!
15mm, is that around 72nd scale? pls reply
Wow these Sherman Models look nice, do these models fit into any scale like 1:72 or 1:76? I never saw them in stores here. ^_^
These are 1/100th. They make 1/72nd as well.
ThePaintingClinic thank you, your videos are great :)
did you prime those?
What do you mean by 'air brush'? What kit do I need to do that?
Tim from England an airbrush that's what you need :)
Can i take cammo gren insted for desert yellow pls answer
I use USA olive drab
the video is great, but we do not know English we would do well to insert panels with the steps you follow to read it and know that using paintings, mixed ...
thanks
It is 1:100 scale.
So, what kind of smell is the MIG wash? I'm renting out a room and don't wan't my landlords complaining about odors.
15mm = 1/100 scale?
Yes.
If you ever want to do a tutorial on how to paint Panther As I got five of them I can loan you for the tutorial :).
15mm is 1/100th. 20mm is 1/72nd.
where did you get the decals?
+Johnathan Troy www.i-94enterprises.com/
Thank you
We're do you get those 15mm tanks
in model shops
+Lego custom clones ,updates and reviews
to me I find them on amazon
Either, but airbrush is better.
It smells like enamel thinner, so it is stinky. However we're talking about a very small quantity. Your roommate may complain for 30 mins, but I doubt the landlord would.
what scale is 1/35 and 1/72 in mm?
+Andy Smith 54mm and 20mm.
Heh, you should see the gaps in my PSC tracks. They look horrible. Thanks for the vid.
What if you don't have an airbrush??
+GamingWithJacob342 Use a non airbrush.
how did you do the tank commander?? It is so small............
15mm is the same as 1:72 ?
25gamb 1:100
The sound kept cutting out. Otherwise an excellent video.
Is 15mm 1/100 scale or 1:72?
1/100.
Thx
thanks for the great tourtorial. But the music drives me crazy....
That's Beautiful! I would shit bricks if you painted a german tank. :)
Thx
