김효근의 연가곡집 '사랑해' 중 제1곡입니다. 서정성을 갖춘 사랑스러운 곡으로 첫사랑의 가슴 벅찬 설렘과 기쁨을 꿈꾸는 듯한 선율로 그려내고 있습니다.
김효근이 청혼을 결심한 1985년에 15곡의 피아노 연주곡과 가곡을 작곡해 연인에게 헌정했는데, 첫사랑은 그 피아노 연주곡 중 하나로 아트팝(Artpop: 예술성과 대중성이 접목된 가곡)의 대표곡 중 하나로 꼽히고 있습니다.
