I was gonna just leave a replay gang comment but I do also want to say its very unnerving that people in the comments are trying to downplay the blackface issue and or telling a black man that he should just "sweep it under the rug" because overseas its a "non issue".
I think thats very disrespectful to tell a content creator who is black to just ignore that because its not important to you. Well to the majority of matty's viewers it is important and most of all its important to him as a black content creator because blackface has a disgusting history whether its in the US or not.
If you want to watch someone who isnt gonna speak on these issues there is the door no shade.
Tl;dr stop disrespecting this channel with telling the creator what you want or dont want to see. Period.

I know this is your channel Matty and this is your platform for your opinions. I have my own channel too and if I dont like what people say - I block them or dont publish the comments but as I wrote at the time - when the Aussie Queens were first on - black face is common outside the USA. BBC only banned it in 2020 ( three years ago) so most of the guests and some of the contestants if they do comedy from the UK will have done some sort of black face and when you get to Australia that number is higher and when you go to Asian countries it is the same as Australia. . LIVING in the UK I grew up with blackface and I expected to die with it being acceptable and we have a large black population who have been protesting for 80 years. Asian countries are oblivious to it being offensive and Australia and New Zealand are like the UK pre 2020. I can assure you that a great deal of guests and contestants outside the USA show have DONE blackface. So its probably worth not getting invested in anyone too much as you will be let down. BTW I miss Veruschka at her triflings
I appreciate the history lesson, but with all of that being said. Should we not even be covering the show? Or should I just not mention anybody having questionable history anymore because it’s not necessary since it happened so long ago….???? I think I’ll continue to cover the shows and if I found out anything I’ll address and move forward as usual. ❤️
@@MattyRants I think many of these black face events will be quite recent in some countries including the UK as our BBC ban was only 3 years ago. It not that you should not cover or talk about them - I have made several KPOP videos myself adressing KPOP Idols in black face, black fishing , wearing braids, dreads and general racism - so I would be a hypocrite to tell you not to mention anybody as I have called out several KPOP idols and agencies. It is just being cautious with your emotion when looking at foreign queens that arent black as they dont have our experiences . I say the same to black KPOP fans- just keep you guard up a little so you are pleasntly surprised by people and not disapointed or crushed . I am 100% glad you talk about it as it is about damn time. And if you didnt make this videos nobody would change. Ths is more about protecting your emotions , heart and spirit.

This is what I've been telling, if every drag queens who've done black face through impersonation gets called out and cancelled, then every other drag queens in the Philippines who've been doing drag for more than 5-10 years is going to get cancelled.
Impersonation is so popular in the Filipino drag community that Drag isn't even a popular term untill a few years ago, it's always impersonators at every town fiestas. Gays impersonating their diva idols which happens to be mostly black divas like Whitney Houston, Diana Ross, Mariah etc. Even Mama Pao painted herself black to look like Michelle Obama, Beyonce and Mariah just a few years ago.
This. Americans don't understand that we don't have the same history that they do. We didn't have minstrel shows and the baggage that came with it. We don't have a track record of our film and media industry painting light-skinned actors in black, red, or yellow to exclude and mock people who weren't white. People are acting like putting black face paint is inherently an evil action ignoring the entire context of slavery and minstrelsy.
Black face is common outside the USA - UK, Europe, Austraia and New Zealand and all Asian countries. And if you are bllack living in any of these countries - you just have to accept it as nothing will change with your little voice of protests
I feel like this is your way of telling me to shut up about something extremely offensive because it isn’t as offensive to you? As it doesn’t apply to you like say it would make a black person feel. I’m never going to get used to it and it forever be offensive. The history I’ve dealt with on my own first hand experience and because y’all say it’s ok I am to simply just be ok with it. No. Not Today, tomorrow, yesterday and so on. Im also going to side-eye anybody who has done it and still thinks it’s ok. Now, let’s say they no longer do it and have an understanding of the deep history behind it. Regardless of intentions, it shouldn’t be done.
@@MattyRants I definitely think you should talk about it , but just dont be too surprised who has done it. Talking about it on UA-cam does work - younger KPOP idols have stopped doing black face (even though some have now turned to black fishing ) and that is thanks to black fans making videos on UA-cam and TikTok. BBC eventually stopped showing black face and again that was 100% due to social media- they didnt stop when people used to write in and complain the just threw the letters away. What this person is saying is different to me - they are saying accept it - whereas I an saying expect it .
No, by all means talk about current racism and injustices that's happening to society right now, and it's your platform so. I was just making a point on Old Queens who did black face impersonaions in the past when it was basically acceptable unlike now that most has been educated. For past issues yes, I think it's important to acknowledge it but I don't understand why they have to be tagged as racist for the rest of their lives. KatKat is just an example , I see her being dismissed by a lot of people saying" oh here comes racist again" everytime she comes out. I think it's very unfair if queens like her gets easily dismissed despite their hard work and talents. Anyway that's just me, I still love your videos @@MattyRants
