The hidden headlights may have a vacuum leak, which is why the doors are open. Also, make sure there isn't any rust behind the fender skirts over the rear tires. The skirts are fiberglass but the frame they hook to is metal.
Thanks for the tips! I'm sure the vacuum leaked down after not running for 12 years! Haha
It started on the second try though!
I poured gas in the carburetor, but it wouldn't idle because the tank was empty and I didn't bring anything to rig up a temporary tank, also I'm not sure if the fuel pump works. I'll probably go back and be more prepared, now that I know it will run.
Yes !!! That is a nice Lincoln. It deserves to be on the road .
She's high on her price, she remembers when it was new and doesn't realize what happens when it sits for 12 years,
Also what it is going to cost to get on the road.
From a time whose like we'll never see again.
VERY much worth saving.
I'm going to try, but we can't agree on a price
@@allenscarsandstuff oh dear kero trying, im the one that always haggles 😅
@@lisawestby3574
I didn't want to go higher than 3,000 and she wanted 8,000 !
I can get a nice one that's running and driving and doesn't need anything for that price!
@@allenscarsandstuff 8,000 is way too much, as they say walk away, save it for another day 😊
@@lisawestby3574
She still thinks it's new, she has lost track of time and doesn't understand what problems are caused from cars sitting for too long.
Now that's lovely, needs work but all there 😊
@@lisawestby3574
The lady who bought it new is in her late 80's, and the car has been sitting since 2012 at least. It would need tires, brakes, hoses, fluids, and a lot of cleaning!
She was way too high on her price though. I did get it to run, so the engine is good, I don't know about the transmission.
Someone up the street in my neighborhood had one of these back in the 80's. In what was then West Berlin, these cars looked like business jets. As a child you knew that they use up a lot, but also keep a lot.
That's great!
I love how these old cars can bring back so many good memories for us!
Thank you for sharing
@@allenscarsandstuff These cars are witnesses of a time that is unimaginable for many today. Every preserved car is an ambassador
@@canerguener8664
Well said sir!
I completely agree!
We should preserve our past.
I definitely think it's worth some, maybe alot of TLC. She's nice.
It will take a week just to buff out the 3 acres of paint on this giant car!! Hahaha
That would clean up nice 👍 👍
I think it would!
You know I'm chiming in! Yes! If you won't, i will 😊. Let me know...
Will do! I made her an offer, but she's really high on the price, she doesn't understand what sitting for 12 years can do to a car. She's in her 80's and still thinks the car is well maintained, which it was before being parked for so long.
How much do you think this is worth?
@@allenscarsandstuff I wouldn't give her over $3,000 for it. There will be a lot of maintenance to do on a vehicle that has sat idle for that many years!!
I had a '75 Lincoln Town Car exactly like that one! It went over 200,000 miles and was still running like a gem when I sold it. I loved that car!!
That's awesome! You must have taken good care of that one!
That's a good looking Lincoln, I really like the color! That interior is just beautiful, it looks brand new! That engine definitely looks like it was taken care of, it even still has the air cleaner tubing. There always seems to be rust under those vinyl tops, but that one doesn't look too bad.
Yes it's in good condition, and she took good care of it until she stopped driving it 12 years ago. it started on the second try! I'm not sure about the transmission or brakes though because I didn't bring an auxiliary fuel tank to keep it running longer. Definitely needs tires. The power windows and seats work. It has some silicone on the rear window, it might leak, the passenger quarter panel has Bondo and was repainted slightly the wrong color, one tiny dent in the door, rusty exhaust, vinyl top has a small tear, doors are a little hard to shut .
I looked at some cars like this for sale online and a nice running and driving one is about 2500, a perfect one can get up to 15,000. What do you think this one is worth?
@@allenscarsandstuffI'd guess probably around the $2500 knowing the rest of that, but these days with the way the market is if a car even starts it's worth at least $5000 it seems haha! It probably does leak, '70s and newer Fords have always seemed to leak water somewhere, it has to do with the way they did rustproofing ironically. I'd be concerned about the doors not shutting easy combined with the rust under the roof and the bodywork, it's usually some kind of sagging and not hinges on those. Were you able to see the frame at all?
@@ds440RB no I couldn't get under it too much they had stuff piled around it, I did look under enough to see rusty exhaust though
I just saw this link you forwarded to Lisa. Solid looking Lincoln. Too bad she was too high on the price. Maybe she will. All you back a d reconsider. My friend had this same Lincoln. Although a tree limb in his yard came down and crushed the roof. It was a great riding car. Thanks Allen.
@@christesta2521
Cool!
I was able to get it started for a few seconds with a bottle of gas, but it probably needs a lot more work to get it on the road.
That's terrible a limb hit his car. Maybe he can cut the top off and have a permanent convertible!
Those do ride good though.
You're welcome Chris!
Yes, save the luxury cars. I enjoy driving down the road on my couch.
I definitely like the luxury cars!
I want to make sure this one doesn't go to the junkyard, but she's wanting way too much for it.
@@allenscarsandstuff That stinks some people think they have gold.
@@NathansMoparGarage I'm sure it's because of sentimental reasons, and the fact that she took good care of it until 12 years ago when she parked it
That's a $2,500 car.
Thanks Al !
Unfortunately she is much higher on her price than that, I will talk to her again soon. I don't want this one to end up in the junkyard.
Beautiful car as is. Curious if low rider or Donk conversion likely.
Nope, not by me, but I do like lowriders!
I would keep it completely stock though if I am able to buy it.
I already have a 61 Cadillac and a 70 Riviera, so I don't have room in the garage for it, but I want to save it from ending up in the junkyard, it's too nice!
She's a beauty, just waiting to be restored to her former glory !
Yes indeed!
I don't think it will be too much, a couple of days to buff and wax, another day to clean inside and treat the leather, new tires, battery, tune-up, and probably some brake work, maybe water pump, fuel pump. Hopefully that would do it.
I'm still not sure if I can get it at a price I can afford!
Is it carbonated or fuel infected ?
4 barrel carburetor.
Definitely worth saving if you can get it for the right price!!! 👍👍
I think so too, I'm trying.
Also I have to convince my wife! That's the hard part haha!
I already have two old cars, a 61 Cadillac and a 70 Riviera.

thanks Christopher!
I had the full skirts when I bought the car, but I found the short ones and I like them better. I've had this car for over 30 years!
Beautiful ❤
Thanks Corey!
I'm trying to get this one so it can be put back on the road!
