The Most Famous Adon Olam in Israel

  • As we bring Israel Week to a close, here is perhaps the most famous tune for Adon Olam ever, composed by Uzi Hitman (1952-2004). I was fortunate to collaborate with Uzi, a secular Jew who was very proud of his contribution to Jewish liturgical music.
Years ago, when I sang it to soldiers all over Israel during my IDF service, they enjoyed singing along. Nowadays, people hum this tune on their way home from Shabbat services. Wishing you all a Shabbat Shalom

The words in both Hebrew and English are written right there in the video. There are other videos on UA-cam featuring the same ligurgical poem (it's not really a "prayer" because G-d isn't addressed in the poem, but rather the congregation is), and you'll easily find explanations of its meaning.

      Adon Olam
      sobre él o colaborar;
