Yes yes, I know... Greek mythology doesn't have a monopoly on mermaids/sirens, they've appeared in cultures around the world since ancient times.
Yes yes, I know... In Greek mythology they actually were originally half-bird. It shifted in the West for some reason.
Yes yes, I know... it's not fair to blame Hans Christian Anderson for the "cute-ifying" of evil mermaids. Like most fairy tales from the Germanic/Scandanavian region, the Little Mermaid had elements of dark tragedy. Really, we should be blaming Disney.
    Just go with it.

In the original HC Andersen story the sea witch took her voice by cutting out her tongue. After losing her tail, walking on legs felt like walking on broken glass. And when the prince married the princess, the little mermaid was was offered a way out; she could kill the newly married couple and regain her tail, but she didn't do it, and she dissolved into sea foam at the first break of dawn. It was a very dark tale, as was literally every European fairy tail before Disney got their grubby hands on it.
Some of the works of HC Andersen have been animated and put on youtube, and I highly recommend them.

Summer-Most of the times extreme heat (up to 43 C°)
    Autumn-Normal temperature from 30-10(10-0 rarely)
Winter-Usually winters are cold with temperatures if 5- -25C° (In the past few years The Winters were not cold and there wasn't a lot of snow)
    Spring-Usually like Autumn.

Me, a mythology nerd: *cracks knuckles*
Depends on the type. Certain ones are actively killers, while some are usually just mischievous, but will kill when angered. Others have the goal to marry a human, while still others fight to defend their homes from humans. Some live in saltwater, some live in freshwater, some can go between the two. Some can take fully human forms, some stick to the half-human-half-fish form that Hans Christian Andersen popularized in the West, some look more like monsters.
They tend to have a love for music.
The only think they all have in common is some affinity for water, with the ability to live in it unharmed, unlike humans.
Sirens, Nereides, Naiades, and Oceanids in Greece, Merrows and Morgens in Ireland, Ceasg (kee-ask) and Kelpies in Scotland, Selkies in Britain and Iceland, Finfolk in Scandinavia, Rusalka in Russia, Undines (also spelled ‘Ondines’) from Paracelsus von Hohenheim’s writing (so in Switzerland?) Lorelei in Germany (also spelled ‘Loreley’, although that’s a name), Sirena Chilota and Aicaya in the Caribbean, Encantado and Iara in Brazil, Ningyo in Japan, and Marakihau in New Zealand are just some examples of this worldwide mythological group of creatures.
Supernatural powers include: emotion manipulation, healing, transformation of self and (sometimes) others, weather manipulation, aquakinesis (water manipulation), magical songs, etc.
It’s a very diverse group of creatures.
Oh, BY THE WAY, Hans Christian Andersen kinda wrote The Little Mermaid to mock the stupidity of obsessive love. Dude had multiple loves, female and male, and was still single his whole life, until he died of liver cancer at the age of seventy. All of his stories are social commentary.
