I worked in a dance club when this song came out and the djs would mix it in along with MJ and Sylvester and Donna Summer... it was ultra cool then, and it's ultra cool now.
Wasn't surprised in the least that a vintage rock band like Yes could come out with a song that could be a kickin' dance number also possessing painful love-lost sentiment. They always had that versatility in them! ❤
Those were the best days, to be there alive as a teenager in the 1980s was very special and the music is unrivaled, it was the evolution of the analog masters of the 60s and 70s reaching its peak. I don't know what happened in the 1990s with the introduction of hip-hop, reggae, and rap everything went into a nosedive.
You sound ignorant but you are who you are. Those artforms you complained about have been there for a long time. Especially reggae. Heard of Bob Marley? Hip-hop is the recycling of music but in the hands of Masters, its why it kicked rock music ass in the '90s. Rap music is just commercial Hip-hop. Nowadays any no talent hack can do rap music and the genre shows. Here's hoping you learned something 😊
¡Para todos y todas.....aquellos y aquellas que vivimos los 80"s........debemos mantener todas estas excelentes canciones.....siempre. Que es lo que hago a diario........recordando y remontando esa época!....:)
Such a great song. The instrumentation and reverb give it such a spacy and vast feeling. Greatest production in the history of recorded sound. Thank you, Trevor Horn. the best remix of this song I've ever heard. WAY TO GO!!!
"My love said never question your will at all... In the end you gotta go... Look before you leap... And don't you hesitate at all." Some of Trevor Rabin's best work...helped by Jon's wordplay. This record was just a Rabin solo piece with an incredible backing band. True story.
Owner of a lonely heart is much better than owner of a broken heart. I love this song. This is music. Today's "music" is not music is garbage from a foreign land.
When this was a hit, i lived on a kibbutz, and workewd on the dairy farm, one evening i was milking cows and the radio station had made a re-mix of a whole hour...... that was bliss at that time.......
This is just a fantastic up lifting happy cool track from 1983 and the remix is stunning making it even longer than the original 7 inch vinyl release !!! This is what the this golden era the 80s was different genres music we're coming into main stream music this track has a mixture of dance indie soft rock !!! Massive all over the world and as I've said in earlier comments there was no net Mobile phones laptops satellite TV only then radio top of the pops on the BBC or just go and but the vinyl single or artists album !!! The 80s was the best era with the 70s not far behind growing up in these exciting fast moving times !!!
My favourite part is "Don't deceive your free will at all", in the end. Greatest production in the history of recorded sound. Thank you, Trevor Horn. excellent, no words can describe the music, the melody...everything is just perfect.;
What an Awesome Amazing Song wow! In 2020 I'm still jamming to this Great Excellent Song from Best Era the 80's ...♥ Wish could go back to this Amazing Best Time..Miss It...
One of Michael Jackson's favorite songs...and in fact inspired his song D.S from the History album and features all the keyboard players from this very track!!!
jason rodgers I didn’t even know about that until now (even looked it up &, yeah, it has the same dudes). I’d have to say... I’m thankful I was raised by parents that have a massive taste in music. I’ve even dived into other bands I would never generally listen to, but love nowadays.. talking ‘Budgie’, ‘Osibisa’, ‘ZZ Top’, ‘Sex Pistols’, ‘Steve Winwood’, ‘Devo’ and other such bands/artists of the like.
I can't forget this song especially the intro...first heard this song in knight rider...kitt was rolling down...the camera is focusing on the front bumper...with a wide angle lens...while you can see the early twilight on the background and the lit buildings...everytime i hear the intro of this song...all i can remember is KITT...hahaha...and im already 48yrs old...
Very cool that they expanded the last part around the 6:00 mark onward. I've always loved that part but I think it's very short on the original recording.
I'm so tempted to make a bunch of youtube videos where you take the meatiest chunks of 80s songs and loop them for 10 minutes (like the interlude in The Pointer Sister's - Jump (For My Love). I've already created the audio loop for that song. I may do that for this song as well. It's just SO GOOD!
esta es una de mis favoritas de mi bella época de la buena música, la cual la pasamos en mi época colegial en nuestro GUE de san pedro y de lo mejor dee nuestro puerto pesquero del mundo
Glad you like it ..funny cause they say we look old but I think with all the good times and great music we have less stress than the younger generation just my opinion
The 80s were a great step in musical technological evolution. And when people actually had to have talent to create, design, and perform. And when they spoke, they had great music to look back upon for influence. I'm afraid that there's going to be a lot less to model one's self after, in the age of Autotune. I'm hoping people with real skills and knowledge can turn Autotune into something I don't have to hate. And that people who 'sample' and 'talk over' actual music created by the gifted go the way of the dinosaur.
Amber Loves Mystery YES is My Favorite Group in the WORLD! I bought Going for the one in 1977. Oh how Years Flew by. I was A DJ. IN THE 80s! Best Dance Music Ever!!!!!
I love the long version of this song! Thanks RETROMIXES1! My Kindergarten and 1st Grade years never sounded so great! Being part of Generation X kicks ass: even if I was born on the tail-end of my generation!
When the my boys where little we always played this on the way to the cottage and they would always know how long until we where there. And hell good idea to raise them listening to great tunes. Guess I should say we played 90218.

One of the greatest songs ever recorded.
These classics are the best! 80's were the best!!!!
Some will argue that Yes is a seventies band though and that this song was not very representative of their older sound.
AMEN!
Greatest production in the history of recorded sound. Thank you, Trevor Horn.
The song lifted me up out of the hole I dug for myself, dusted off my clothes, and, made me know I was not beaten, not by a long shot...
Amen!!

Owner of a lonely heart is much better than owner of a broken heart. I love this song. This is music. Today's "music" is not music is garbage from a foreign land.
Indeed!
Holy crap, finally got to hear the stuff that's tragically faded out at the end of the album version. Love it!
This song was always the complete antithesis of Yes. But it's a fun song. With one of the greatest guitar solos of all time.
80´s ..amazing version
The allure of the 80's will always be in style....

Bring back the 80's from a 80's child
I've always loved this song. The video for MTV was wicked cool, too!🎵😁🎶
The video was your bog standard 80s fare. It was completely unmemorable.
The music, the fashion, the hair, the movies, the videos: This was catching lightning in a bottle. THIS WAS THE 1980'S!
AMEN!
TAKE ME BACK TO THE BEGINNING I HAVE FUCKED MY LIFE UP BIG TIME
Exactly Mariell (y)
One of the most underrated bass lines of the 80s. Simple but funky!
one of the best starts to a song ever made
I love "Owner of a Lonely Heart". That's my number one favorite Yes song.
When this was a hit, i lived on a kibbutz, and workewd on the dairy farm, one evening i was milking cows and the radio station had made a re-mix of a whole hour...... that was bliss at that time.......
Kees Lugtenaar I bet the cows produced more milk.

What a nice tune! Thank You
Trevor Horn is a hero among producers.
One of Michael Jackson's favorite songs...and in fact inspired his song D.S from the History album and features all the keyboard players from this very track!!!
Wow! 🤯 Had no idea! Now, I can see the similarities.
jason rodgers I didn’t even know about that until now (even looked it up &, yeah, it has the same dudes). I’d have to say... I’m thankful I was raised by parents that have a massive taste in music. Which keyboard players? D.S. is credited to Jam and Lewis who had nothing to do with this track.
