I took my first shave this morning with a non-cartridge razor this morning, on a new Henson mild with the standard blade supplied. Wonderful and easy - zero cuts. While I have to say I was apprehensive at the start, it was very easy. This almost 56 year old, so shaving for 45 ish years, could not be happier. If you are, like I was, hesitant at shaving with a DE razor, give it a go
This guy is the premiere authority for “wet shaving.” His videos are both professional and and informative.
Great video for those that are starting out wet shaving. Leaf? Nothing better. I use the Thorn, yes, a bit more aggressive than the Twig, but nothing has given me a closer shave. I’ve got a collection off razors, but the Thorn is the only one I use. It’s the best razor for shaving around the nose and upper lip because of the small and thin form factor. Yep, for me, the Leaf Thorn is the best razor made.
After three months of waiting, my Gillette Nacet Blades finally arrived, traveling from Jordan to Belgium and then spent some time at customs. Just used it for the first time in my Rockwell 6C with the 6 plate. I liked it very well: no wounds or irritation. It was worth the wait...
When I started my wet shaving journey to shave my head I purchased the Leaf and all the accessories like shave soap (Hoffman’s/PAA), an alum block, aftershaves, DE blades, brushes, and a good bowl. Loved shaving my head with the Leaf but I was still using a disposable to shape my beard and do my cheeks and neck. You and your channel gave me the confidence to pickup a Twig. Yes it was very different to use at first but after a couple shaves I’m in love with how a gentle two pass shave makes my skin smoother than ever and with almost no irritation on my neck. I think if I ever get a DE razor I’ll probably grab a Rockwell 6C. Thanks for the help and all the great content 👍🏻
Great tips)!
I recently bought a Leaf Twig. I have a heavy beard and I shave my head. This is the first razor that I have been able to shave my head and face in the same session without any nicks. In the past I have used an old school Gillette clamshell adjustable razor and a 3-piece old-school Gillette. Both are double-edged. Currently right now I'm using Lord razor blades in my Twig. It is truly smooth and gentle shave. I never have any irritation or nicks. If I had any complaints at all about the Twig, I wish the entire handle had some better grip surface across the entire handle. Otherwise I'm quite pleased
I finally got my blue Rockwell 6s and holy cow, I was blown away by how good it was. Did three passes with a 3 plate, no nicks or irritation. Much better feedback compared to my king c gillette. I take back my recommendation of king c as a first razor. Even forget the twig or henson, just buy a 6c or 6s if you have the funds! Amazing razor.
Muhle r89 grande is the best start up razor you can buy.its mild and no chance of getting cut. Also you can put a feather blade in there and have a great shave.
Man....I tried so many safety razors looking for cartridge razor replacement and you cannot compare. I just cannot replicate that cartridge shave. So I use a knock off Merkur adjustable set aggressive and Rockwell for 2nd and 3rd pass. My face cannot handle going against the grain, unless I use a cartridge razor. I got Feather butterfly razor and blades ...price was good but yo that is so sharp, don't let the price fool you...you need to know what you are doing.
Just ordered a bundle thanks to your channel. Also used your links and hope it helps to support you!
Best video for anyone considering wet shaving with safety razor. Such great advice.
Great insight for new “Traditional Wet Shavers”. I own the Henson AL13 Mild and love it. One razor for beginners that you didn’t mention was the Edwin Jagger DE89. Although I have not used one, it is always mentioned for consideration as an excellent razor for new wet shavers.
Thanks for posting. I'm just getting back into shaving like this. I bought a Leaf Thorn. I have used it 3x and am liking it. I was terrified of it at first and apprehensive. Your videos helped.
Im recently into DE shaving, I own several razors now but started on the Henson and its still my go too. No nicks, weepers, or burn with any blades. Just a smooth, beautiful BBS shave every time.
Great intro video for the beginners! Well done sir.
Great video for us newbies. Thanks for all your work.
Awesome video, I just start wet shaving 4 Months ago and this chanel always pointed me in the right direction, Rockwell 6C o the 2C are a great beginners option.
I would recommend the rockwell 6c for anyones first razor. You can start with nr.1 plate and work your way up to find your preferred level of efficiency/aggression. I currently use the Muhle R41 for WTG and XTG passes and the Rockwell 6c nr. 4 plate for touch ups and buffing.
Henson AL13-M all the way for a first razor. Let the blade do the work. Wonderfully gentle yet close shave. The engineering on that thing is on another level.
