Yes, you can place the Tooth Traps closer together. But if you do that when one of your traps breaks after ten uses, since they are so close together you won't be able to replace it. Trust me, I learned that the hard way and had to pick up and replace like, 50 Tooth Traps.

If you mean a grass farm with gekkos penned and a pup trapped in? Kinda. The pup will eventually chew through the walls, so you would need to trap it with statues. Not sure if that's worth. If you just want for the geckos to drop their tails quickly, you can put chester inside the gekko pen, they will spook
I've heard of making a walled trap for hounds as well with tooth traps at the only entrance. Maybe could work if the corridor of the trap were long enough.
Have you went back on your old videos and added category sections? Heavily appreciated if that's the case and defintely noticed. Wouldn't expect someone to bother doing that with their older stuff to be honest
Hey, Don Giani, I've been watching your videos for a while now, and I have a little suggestion for you. You see, I find myself so absorbed in the video footage that I often miss the moment a new text message appears on screen. I end up rewinding the video several times or pausing, in case I see the text right before it's about to vanish. So my suggestion would be to add a short quiet sound, preferably something non-intrusive, to notify when the text changes. An example would be the sound of keystokes that can be turned on on mobile phones, or something along the lines. I hope you consider this idea.
That's a good idea, thanks for your comment. Maybe a turning book page sound? The problem is that there's a lot of texts, the sound really needs to be non-intrusive as you said because it will trigger maybe 20-30 times for a single video. I think I just need to be better at placing the texts, spacing them etc. I'm trying that in every video though. Another problem is that if I want to keep the synchronization between the new sequences and the music, most of the time I'm forced to re-adjust the texts and some of them are not well placed... I will definitely find a solution to make it better for you and for those who feel the same.
Yea I find it takes me at least twice as long as the vid length to watch due to me rewinding the vid so as not to miss any text. Some sound b4 or as the text is appearing would b good. :)
Using a pan flute is maybe too expansive just kill the hounds they will respawn sure but out of the pen so you're safe to pick up the loot (just watch out warg got range) but that's cheaper if you're poor.
Great 7tips, but i still want so bad a geeko farm guide or 7tips of it, i know that some youtubers made that guide but i want yoursss, pleass. Love you
Heh I feel like Helicalpuma explained really well the Gekko Farm, there's nothing that I could add about it. I'm truly sorry for this... Thanks for your comment!
Um BR em portugal: yea Helicalpuma has quite a few great DST guides, including gecko farm. I like how all the best DST UA-camrs respect each other n the DST community by not making guides etc that already exist. From experience gecko farms close to base r good bc they produce more grass when the geckos get scared etc but they can cause or add lag around ur base. I like to build my gecko enclosure in an L shape - with double gates - that way I can leave Chester outside in the corner to scare the geckos, but I can also take Chester fast n easily any time I want to use him. U could instead leave Chester or a pig in with the geckos or simply not bother trying to get grass faster, however u will need a lot of grass early game but eventually will have more grass than u can poke a stick at.
Seems like a silly thing to waste green gems on, though. It’s funny this is shown with Wigfrid, who can’t use any butterfly drops. If you’re far enough along to have the gems for a telelocator, why would you need a butterfly farm? You should be living off jerky and honey.
I don't know if it's just a console thing being inferior to the pc version as usual but the hitbox is so small giants can just casually walk through them and if they manage to go off you still have to reset them which is annoying Maybe even above all that large fields of them look ugly in my opinion
Yeah I occasionally use sewing kits and blowdarts but not much else. I forced myself to give tooth traps a second chance by placing them near frog ponds and gobbler bushes but kinda tacky and need resetting constantly Any ideas for decorating with them?
Wow! Thank you! This was really helpful Haha. I watched this right before getting attacked so these techniques really came to use ^^ I ended up building sanctuary in a field nearby some...buffalo?(what are those buffalo things called?) And now I dont really dread encountering any hounds.
Regarding the last tip, making a butterfly farm by planting flowers near a lava pond is way cheaper and safer. All you need is a chilled thermal stone, and perhaps a scalemail if you're not careful and walk too close to the lava. But the question is, why would you use a butterfly farm? To craft the Glossamer saddle? A couple of days in summer and some dedication take care of that. To use wings as a crock pot filler? I guess, but standing around some flowers in wait of butterfly spawns is not a very efficient use of one's time. To get butter for ice cream? Well, you would be better off relying on Volt goats. You can attack them while they sleep during the night, or use a ranged weapon any other time of the day to aggro them on you. Hit them once with the morning star to electrify them and proceed to use your normal weapon. 1 Volt goat = 1 electric milk = 1 ice cream. If you kill all but one goat in the herd, you get 5-7 bottles of milk on the spot, in 3-5 minutes. If you're lucky to have two herds in your world, double that. Beats the 2% chance of butter drop from the butterflies.
Marciliy butterflies heal 8hp don't they? Can be useful for easy stacks of healing items . Plus butter is a free bonus, can be used for pancakes to heal 60hp . Ice cream isn't as good of an item to use butter for, you just sacrifice the huge healing potential for something a few cooked mushroom caps can do
Yeah, following that logic, almost every food item is interchangeable, each with its own downsides (health penalty for green caps, for instance) which makes the idea of butterfly farm in DST even more obsolete. Butterfly wings don't last too long, so herding them for health is pointless, and butter is such a rare drop that you'll make what, one or two waffles? Which perish in 6 days. Doesn't seem like a sustainable strategy, more like an oddity, the kind of thing you make just for fun, because RNG gave you something unusual to work with. A reliable source of health would be pierogi - 40hp, lasts 20 days, ingredient are very common. Don't get me wrong, a butterfly farm can be a viable solution in certain circumstances. For instance it's very good in Shipwrecked, where you can use a cactus to do the farming for you, and live off meatballs made of wings and monster meat, but also use the odd piece of butter for lobster dinner, which, apart from being a swag meal in itself, can be traded for a boat cannon with the Yaarctopus. But to farm butterfly wings like in the video, repeatedly putting the hounds to sleep for a few seconds and basically wasting green gems for a basic crock pot filler doesn't seem like a clever idea.
I think it's mostly built for esthetics in base building and not really overly usefully. Butter is 2% or 1 in 50 butterflies and not a very reliable healing food. Butter muffins r good but i think they only heal 20 and spoil fairly fast. U can easily make 10 - 20 pierogies or dragon pies Vs 2, 3 or 4 butter (waffles). P.S. a friend made 8 waffles in our 8 crock pots on her team server once. We all took a screen shot, as it looked pretty impressive. That's on average = to about 400 killed butterflies!!! She wouldn't tell me how she got her hands on 8 butter, other than she didn't kill 400 butterflies. Hmmmm....
I cringed every time in the video where the hounds bit at you and barely dodged and didn't get hit. With the lag I get that would be impossible, I can't even get twice that distance from the hounds and not get hit. If I don't have a walking cane, I literally have to run in a straight line on a road to not get hit. Anyways great guide nevertheless. A trick I use is whenever I hear the hounds, I go underground as fast as I can and sometimes if I go back up to surface they never come, although this was with another person, but they were underground with me so idk how that works. I tried this again and it didn't seem to work as well so I just kept hopping back and forth until the hounds spawned so I spawned them on that sinkhole then went back down again and came up a different staircase. I proceeded to gear up and went back, and tried to slowly inch closer and closer to try and get only a few at a time but the game always likes to throw you a curveball so I did still get about 4 at once with lag which is no fun. But hey, at least I didn't get all ten to twelve of them because it was around day 200.
when you started the series you said the videos would be around 7 minutes long? now they are around 10+ :/ i would recommend speeding up fight scenes while only slowing them down to point out the thing you are talking about (however i understand that it would only speed it up by like max a minute or two) just pointing this out because i find myself getting rather bored waiting thru unnecessary things and wanting to skip through it and/or exit the tab. hope this constructive criticism helped! :D
Yeah I'm truly sorry for this... In the beginning of every montage I try to respect the 7 minutes but if I feel like I didn't tell everything I wanted in the video, I prefer to make it 2 or 3 minutes more and feel satisfied when I rewatch it than regret afterwards. I hope you understand. I will do my best for the future 7ips!
You missed a lot of good ones. Tree guardians are the most obvious. I always have a dozen tree gurdians all over the map. They tend to wander which is annoying. You can trap them but its not worth the hassle. a mole farm is great, they kill the moles and eat the food while you kill them a few at a time. Typically you don't have anything that can burn in a mole farm so fire hounds aren't a real issue. I typically just tank them with a bunch of log suits and a ham bat if there are no other options. Tank, run, heal, tank. Much faster then fighting like a pro. If I get in trouble I jump in a cave or a worm hole and deal with them later. OH chester.. yah sacrifice Chester for the greater good. he is a great distraction if you are too far from your tooth trap base. Build a chest, empty Chester's stuff into chest. Leave him and then tank the hounds. at least half seem to target Chester and you can typically tank/ heal the reaming ones. then tank the hounds on Chester until he dies. I always have an pigman and bunny hut pre built and will build them to help with hounds sometimes.
Hey!
You can keep the Bunnymen outside the same way you do with the pigs, just use a powdercake instead of the pig skin.

Hmmmm....

PLS make a Seven 7ips about camp decoration
You helped my friend so much , thanks you. :)
Aww yeah Woodie time
DONI BACK AT IT AGAIN WITH THE UPLOAD ESKITIT
I was unlucky enough to have this happen at night so i couldnt run
what the hell is ips
varg cane summon other hounds (if i kill them)
Good video !
when you started the series you said the videos would be around 7 minutes long? now they are around 10+ :/
i would recommend speeding up fight scenes while only slowing them down to point out the thing you are talking about (however i understand that it would only speed it up by like max a minute or two)
just pointing this out because i find myself getting rather bored waiting thru unnecessary things and wanting to skip through it and/or exit the tab.
hope this constructive criticism helped!
I will do my best for the future 7ips!
wow lol, this game felt simple before I got it xD
Thank you.
Pan flute and gunpowder.....
It's as ezzy as 123boom

I died to 2 hounds awhile ago im just
You missed a lot of good ones.
Next do depth worms
I prefer bunnimen because they dont eat the meat
WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN MY S W A M P?
Tooth traps
Rip green gems...
Use pigs/bunnymen
