----------------
In this clip, Sauce Money briefly speaks on all his ghostwriting records throughout his career, prior to mentioning how his relationship with Jay Z is what linked him to future collaborations with Puff Daddy. From there, he recalls writing on four records for the No Way Out album, which is still Puffy's most successful body of work to date. One of those records was “I'll Be Missing You,” the tribute record to the late Notorious B.I.G., which was a smash hit despite Sting taking almost all of the money for the sample. - Розваги
here after Gene Deal
Same 😂
Me too 😅
That was beyond a sample. I can understand using a song as a base, but when an artist just puts different lyrics on top someone else’s beat, there can be no complaints about paying up.
It was basically a cover
@@orpheusepiphanes2797you need permission
Real Hip hop heads knew about the ghostwriters man....This aint a shock
Shit been going on since the beginning, Big Daddy Kane use to write for Biz Markie 🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️ nobody gave a shit just as long as the music was good !!!
Puff Daddy ain’t a rapper rapper, so it’s fine
Where Madd Skillz at?
@Re Up yeah dont worry if 8 write rhymes I write checks.👏👏
Don’t worry if I write rhymes...I write checks
Damn Puff couldn't even write his own words for biggie
I'm pretty sure he gave input to me it doesn't diminish the msg of the song. Travel well
The song wasn't wrote for puff. It was for sauce mom
I thought puff wrote it

Wow I had no idea this guy wrote “I’ll be missing you” that’s crazy. Salute to this man. Talent.
u must be young
I mean he took the lyrics from the police .
What do you mean wrote? He stole a song.........
Wrote what? He stole the guitar riff and the main vocal melody and then added a drum track how is that writing 😂
@@callummorgan5664 He wrote the rap, fool. That's what he gets royalties for. He didn't steal anything. Puff used the sample without permission and Sting sued him.
Great song but also one of the saddest songs in hip hop. I could’ve guessed Sting got most the money tho..same music, same melody and everything but dope song R.I.P B.I.G
But morally I would’ve did a nicer split with the newer artists ya know. True a person can rightfully take what’s technically owed to them lending a sample & song but doesn’t mean morally we should be greedy. That punk ass white boy has around 400 million dollars, he wasn’t hurting for no money at all, and Puff legally sampled it, whereas Juicewrld and his producer stole the sample. I was tryna give sting benefit of the doubt, but he seems like a pretty greedy money hungry dude anyways.
Sting performed it with puffy at the Gramnys. So he might have been fair with him
502 KINGPAUL that song heavily sampled sting

Sauce is too humble he has crazy credits
Never sample a Sting record. He will take everything.
As he should. It was a heavy sample, it should come with a heavy paycheck.
Sampling is not a good idea if you wanna maxumize the amount of money you make. Even if the song is a major hit, most the money will go to the original artist. Plus they took the beat AND the hook....
It all depends on how much you sample. The same thing happened to Lord Tariq & Peter Gunz. Steely Dan got 100% of the publishing.
This is why dr Dre will replicate a sound to avoid paying
@@MrBean617 And Jerry Rivera got bupkis for the intro.
2024 gene Deal got me here 😂
Hold up I remember sting performing this song with puff and faith at award shows 🤣🤣🤣 you mean to tell me he took all the money for the song and still performed with them 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
that's GANGSTA!!!!
Sting didn't want to do it so he said he wanted all the money thinking Puffy wasn't serious. Then he felt like he shouldn't perform because Hip Hop isn't his genre & he didn't want to be disingenuous. He actually donated a lot of the money to charity & the family but people stopped talking about the real story a long time ago.
Sauce was a beast. His flow and content was barbaric in the booth. Dude definetly didn't get the shine he deserved.
I loved "pain" off no way out, respect to the sauce👍💯

Even though Sting took most of the money from that song it was the perfect single for Puff to really launch that album.
Naw it blow up due to Biggie Death
@@mrkilo-g8794 Even if Big didn't pass that album was still gonna sell. Between Big, Mase, The Lox and The Hitmen that album had way to many singles and it was gonna blow regardless. One song doesn't sell a multiplatinum album.

If I were an artist that made music and someone sampled, or took anything from my work, plus I owned publishing? Damn right they give me most of the proceeds 💪😊
Shut up. No one asked you.
Sting said that if they asked him he would have said yes. But they didn't, so he sued.
Sting show up like "Beautiful rendition of an orginal piece, the artist is amazing" hype it up then send that notice.
Sample another person song, expect to get clipped by the original artist.

Its so ironic i been listening to this album lately!!!! N was amazed at the music!!!! Def classic!!!!!!
Props Sauce Money. Do You Know is my favorite song on that Puffy album. That shit is so deep.
Well it makes since that Sting took the majority of the money, IT'S HIS RECORD Puff should have Known better.
Finally he's talking about himself instead of Jay Z
Facts
Word!
Finally Vlad stoped askin about Jay Z

THE LEGENDARY SAUCE MONEY!!!!!!! The ultimate ghostwriter
Sting must love rap music as these rappers keep paying him
Life after Death almost doubled No Way Out in sales
As Sting should he's the legend
Sting should have got most of the money. It's his song. It was already a hit song and still a bigger hit than the Puff Daddy version.
Missing you is a classic track man
Puff also sampled Roxanne by Sting as well...I guess him & Puff was cool!!
Dope... keep that real shit coming Vlad
I knew about the missing you record . I didnt know about the others....it would of been dope to hear sauce on young gs with Big and Jay
Whenever I think of Puffy, all I think of is Dave Chappell in a visor and some shades...🤣🤣😂😂😘
So glad to hear Sting took most.
It's folklore that Sting gets ALL the publishing money from The Police songs.... Journalist Vic Garbarini conducted an interview in 2000 with the Police & subsequently made the following statement after the interview to clear up some wordplay between Sting, Andy & Stewart regarding the ''I'll Be Missing You'' song:
“The basic premise that Sting gets all the royalties/publishing for Police songs is simply not true. Early on it became apparent that Andy and Stewart’s unique contributions to Stings songs, really gave them a whole other dimension. So Sting agreed to give each of his bandmates 15% of royalties each, on all his songs.”
He will take every breath

If u going to sample sting get it cleared first cuz if u put it out before getting it cleared and it becomes a hit, he taking it all, smart move by sting
It was cleared. He still took all the money. His song his rules 🤷🏽♂️
I remember meeting Sauce in Ulster county jail both of us were on a visit. Cool dude
Legend 🔥
Same with Tribe and "Can I Kick It". Lou Reed cleared the sample but he took 100% of the publishing. That's the cons of sampling. The original artist can set the terms anyway they like, as they should, but 100% seems kinda jacked up.
Vlad it’s not “shadows in my room”, it’s Lucid Dreams. Get your facts straight 🤦🏾♂️
I wrote this song a long timmmme ago! A real long timmmmmee ago! In ‘94...
😂😂😂
Sting been getting some serious royalties from Diddy's I'll Be Missing You in 1997 all the way to Juice WRLDS Lucid Dreams in 2018 and will continue getting them as he rightfully should those are the songs he created.
He should hell he don’t pay his artists correctly and he robs the families of the artists he had killed. I’m happy to hear Sting taking what is deserved.
Damn Puffy couldn't write about his own man over a slow ass track, that's lame!
Puff wasnt a rapper...big started him rapping...fact he was going to be big first artist
He’s a fruitcake
Shawn Carter No real rapping was required on that song! He's basically slow talking thru the song. And I know about Puff history in the game, that's still lame though!!
Hakim B not lame at all puff wanted it done right
Tyrese Tyrese Lol okay
Word Sauce! Thats crazy. Hope you got a proper check for that
Sting and Diddy performed it at the 1997 MTV Video Music Awards, not the Grammys. Also, it was The Police's song, not Sting's solo song.
Sting took most of the money to pay TK.
Yep🤣
😂
😆😆😆😆😆😆 good one.
Sophisticated Ignorance Sure did. I lost forgot about that.
"Shadows in my room" ahaha
Prisonvids 1 #HMPSAUGHTON that shit was funny as hell. Lol like really Vlad
'do you know'....is dope.
That song is so deep
I have no words.
I hope Vlad ask Sauce Money about the craft of "ghostwriting".
Juice WRLD can relate to Sting taking most of the money lol Sting don't need to make any more records or businesses to feed his great grand kids. The samples from various artists got his generation covered.
Sauce money been one of the illest
Sting said on the Breakfast Club since Diddy didnt get permission to use Sting's sampled music on "Missing You" Diddy has to pay him everytime the song is played- forever.
This Man said he was a 100k short after the lawsuit! Crazy.
BlackJohnnyCage that was some str8 b.s.
Lawyer Fees...
Every breath you take was a Police track written by Sting and his Manager ain't playing.
People forget that back then Life after Death was double CD, AND one album sold counted as two units sold.
True but they were also just under the cost of two separate albums, say a single CD was 10 a double would be 19 dollars.
Sauce money incredible talent
Its Stings song, of course he's gonna take most of the profit, it's a hit because they sampled his song.. period.. was Puffy Mad about it?
2:47 How was "I'll Be missing U" started b4 BIG died?🤔
That's why it's not called "I AM Missing You"
It wasn't. It was added after Biggs passing. Some people just don't listen.. Its sickening, learn to listen
There are songs on no way out that will give you the chills. Do you know was crazy!
the instrumental was nice. its one of those records i liked but didn't like at the same time. like i would never willfully play do you know, but if it came on my playlist, i most likely wouldn't fastforward it. and the third verse was crazy "i can't take it, i'm a playa hater , i can't fake it". the joint wit black rob was nice too
LMAO @ " YOU CAN USE IT, BUT YOU AIN'T GONNA EAT OFF IT LIKE THAT! "
It was a Police record. Sting wrote that song so he probably got the majority of the credit.
Not probably, he did
Negotiate your splits before you release music, that’s the moral of the story.
If I'm the original artist of the song that went Platnium and another artist wants to use it ( him or her ) then I'll tell you what royalties I will receive PERIOD..,
True but also if you sample a record the owner of the song you sampled from will automatically get %50 unless they decide they want more. That is the downfall of sampling.
One of the dopest lyricists of all time.
That wasn't the Grammy's that was the MTV music awards.
Life after Death sold 13.4 million in the US alone
John Smith it’s a double album and the RIAA counts Double album sales two for every one album sold so in reality Life after Death is certified 11x platinum but sold 5.5 million.
@@Mac2nite. yup but the album also cost double the amount of a single disc album
Moral of the story make original music quit sampling people's shit making them richer
I mean if u sample like Tribe, Pete Rock, Preemo, etc I think that's cool. Missing You wasn't a sample, it was a str8 bite. Puffy bit that song. It was basically the same some as Sting. That's not sampling, that's biting!!!
exactly.. problem is that a lot of them can't...that's why they bite off of other artist's shit.. and hope for the best.
ALL OF IT‼️
Wow Didn't kno he wrote those joints on No Way Out!!!
On that no way out album you can tell most of them bars sounded like biggie. I already knew he didn't write his own rhymes.
