My 09 volvo s80 t6 awd stock doesn't come close to losing against a Shelby gt, hellcat, the corvette c8, and definitely a hellcat is like racing a civic running on 3 cylinders, and I really haven't even had a car pass me or even be 3 car lengths from me when I let off the gas.

Were there frame mods to handle the engine upgrade? And what's the scoop on this eBay Turbo? It would be fun to upgrade the turbo on my 1.9L, but I know that would require some pretty heavy mods! I have to add that I've seen a lot of attempts at putting big engines in all sorts of "inappropriate" cars for drag purposes, but the results that MF Jones obtained are stellar!! Anyway, thanks for posting this. It's one of the most fun vids I've ever seen!
242's are classy looking. I prefer 740's myself. While a v8 swap is cool and the easier way to get big HP, making a redblock put out those numbers is even cooler. That vette at least got beat by a v8. But there are some turbo 4cyl volvos that could lay down those kinds of runs as well.

It must break those lambo owners hearts to get thrashed by a £2000 Volvo 242 with a bolt on turbo. Most of those supercars/hypercars are about looking good as much as going fast. The difference is the Volvo is built to do just one of those things.....and it isn't too look good. ;P With some of the cars that can be built now for a fraction of the price of a lambo yet equally as fast (or faster!) you would have to be rich to buy one to race like this imo. The difference in maintenance costs for one. What that lambo owner spends in maintenance on one weekend would probably maintain the Volvo For a couple of years! lol. It's not worth paying all that money for performance that is easilly matched for a fraction of the cost. Supercars aren't really THAT super anymore.
