Notes. First, I forgot to show that Energy Sword assassinations do NOT use energy - all other Sword hits will use 10% per hit. Second, I don’t know the real reason why Hammers win clashes vs Swords; however, if you slow it down from different angles it looks like the Hammer itself blocks the full sword swing (which imo is kind of cool from a mechanics standpoint). Also, apparently if I like Halo 5’s multiplayer and sprint, I can't be a “true” Halo fan. I might make a video about this in the future ;) busy right now though. Until next time Spartans!
Aozolai hammers use an enrgy burst that kills in one swing a sward has to physically touch a spartan to damage or kill a hammer only has to do one burst of energy to instakill.
Aozolai only a hammer has access to increased range and damage your just slower with the hammer since all that power comes at a price of a heavy ranged melee wepon.
The Propert's Bane, giving Halo players trust issues since Halo 5. But seriously, I could believe the normal sword and even the Ravening Sliver lunges. We have those thruster packs on our backs, surely we could use them to lunge forward. But the Vorpal Talon and Prophet's Bane? That's some flying right there.
I really did not know that the Vorpal Talon had just as much lunge range as a Bane! The extra jump height was also cool. I think all the REQ sword types were pretty well made. They all have a unique set of characteristics that make them all stand out from each other.
its really hard to decide between the vorpal talon and the ravening silver, id say the ravening silver though just for the sole fact that in a head on clash the ravening will almost certainly win every time just cause of the swing speed
Great to see a UA-camr I can relate to, I just see to much negativity and hyperbole regarding Halo 5. I personally enjoy H5 even though it's not perfect.
The one thing everyone forgets about the Vorpal Talon is that it actually has a built-in motion tracker, much like Linda's Nornfang sniper rifle, with the exception that the Vorpal Talon's built-in motion tracker is also present in the campaign.
Sword clashing is a neat mechanic Also didn't know about the extra jump height, the extended hover time on the one sword, or the spartan charge being a sword kill
With the proper footwork and timing, a competent sword user will beat your average hammer user 8 times out of ten. There is also a glitch that allows a sword weilder to trade with a hammer, though we're not entirely certain if this is caused solely by connection or something else. Edit: almost forgot. A regular hammer melee (as in, not the swing) will beat a sword lunge.
Honestly, I just really love this game franchise. Now, I may not particularly like Halo 5, since I preferred the original's sense of pure, unbridled chaos fueling it's sense of "speed", but I enjoy it for what it is nonetheless.
Another cool fact about energy swords not found here is that the defenders in infected can pick up the infected energy sword if they assassinate the infected. I did it once just because I wanted to really assert my dominance, and then the sword dropped and I went on a frenzy. Since they didn't have shields I won every sword fight and I spent the whole match just running around the arena spartan charging infected until I slipped up and got stabbed myself.
Another amazing video Aozolai Thank you so much for all your hard work. I love everything about your videos. You are my favourite halo youtuber. Your style of content is far suoerior to anything else out there.
I have been watching your Halo 5 weapon analysis videos for a while now and must admit, sometimes I enjoy watching them just to hear the weapon sounds but this video has vastly changed my opinion on the Energy Sword in Halo 5 and has me wanting to only use the Vorpal Talon variant. Well done dude, as always!
Joseph Burger Swords have range, speed and maneuverability while hammers have knock back, area of effect and are more useful against vehicles and tankier enemies.
You should compare the accuracy/range of a weapon while crouched vs while standing. I mainly want to know the difference for weapons like BR and Magnum but I wonder if it affects all weapons.
the last part about the gravity hammer reminded me about how they buffed the range of the gravity hammer thus making the energy sword useless in Griffball :(
Actually, energy swords can definitely beat gravity hammers if you distance yourself and time it correctly. After lots of Grifball, I can pretty much beat any 1v1 situation where I have energy sword and enemy has hammer
Alexis Alexander Yeah but Hammers do have a slight capability advantage in a straight out 1v1, since hammer swing can black swords whilst swords can't block hammer. But every encounter can be unique for sure
I don't like h5 so I haven't played it in a while (found it boring compared to previous halos - h2 will always be a fav for both campaign and multiplayer for me) but I always enjoy these videos. I wish someone would have done this for MCC. so many mechanics like momentum and shit that would've been cool to see break downs on! keep it up, maybe h6 will be great and you'll be THE source for information!!!
I didn't get it either watching it the first time to be honest. Probably because the idea of someone willing to give up a fairly expensive power weapon cause they think someone else will be better able to use it at moment in a random public match would never even occur to me. Mind it's one of those things where if he DOES pick it up it's like 100% certainty he'll run around the corner, whiff, and then get insta killed so the other team can pick it up and then get like five kills with it...
great video! I think you could have pointed out how much it sucks that melees don't have any effect when trying to trade with sword-wielding spartans. it's top-notch bs
Notes. First, I forgot to show that Energy Sword assassinations do NOT use energy - all other Sword hits will use 10% per hit. Aozolai Still waiting for the roast🌚
Aozolai hammers use an enrgy burst that kills in one swing a sward has to physically touch a spartan to damage or kill a hammer only has to do one burst of energy to instakill.
Dude, i like your new look
Aozolai only a hammer has access to increased range and damage your just slower with the hammer since all that power comes at a price of a heavy ranged melee wepon.
Aozolai thats pretty much all i got to offer from a over aggressive hammer weilder like myself. to a perfectly skilled sward weilder that you are.
Construct Master
I would say swords in halo give players...thrust issues:)
Construct Master Wow...
Trust?
Hey if the Arbiter uses it it's probably overpowered.
I really did not know that the Vorpal Talon had just as much lunge range as a Bane! The extra jump height was also cool. I think all the REQ sword types were pretty well made. They all have a unique set of characteristics that make them all stand out from each other.
PRECCCC nice vids and you too Aozolai
Precellence this mean you will utilize them in non sweaty games?
Thank you:)
I definitely will give them another shot!
its really hard to decide between the vorpal talon and the ravening silver, id say the ravening silver though just for the sole fact that in a head on clash the ravening will almost certainly win every time just cause of the swing speed
Can I just say that the energy swords look soooooo beautiful in halo 5
My favourite weapon ever, in the history of all time!
I agree any day. It's one of my favourites and my favourite melee weapon
Its also my favorite weapon!
Great to see a UA-camr I can relate to, I just see to much negativity and hyperbole regarding Halo 5. I personally enjoy H5 even though it's not perfect.
Honestly from what I know most of the hate is directed to the campaign and some elements of the multiplayer like no split screen and sprint
Campaign was horrible not only that but the game just doesnt feel like Halo
Facts bro ! I love halo, there's no hate anywhere.
Absolutely love the game!
@Ofel Oktaf Purbayasa idk sounds like you're butthurt over a 11 month old comments to me
The one thing everyone forgets about the Vorpal Talon is that it actually has a built-in motion tracker, much like Linda's Nornfang sniper rifle, with the exception that the Vorpal Talon's built-in motion tracker is also present in the campaign.
Vorpal Talon is such a good weapon, but because all the other op level 4 reqs, the only time I use it is when Elite Primes drop them.
you forgot to mention that the motion tracker doesn't hide when you zoom in with vorpal talon. pretty important bonus imo
“Prophets Bane lunge: >15m”
Spartans be like *YEET*
Sword clashing is a neat mechanic

Competent sword versus competent hammer tends to be about 50/50.
And of course, competent hammer versus average sword tends to be 10/10 -IGN, never gonna use a sword again.
Yea, when swords were usable in grifball it was all about outmaneuvering hammers and striking just after they swung, good times...
TheInvertedWolf You need to work on your footwork my friend. You may not be getting naires with the sword anymore, but it is still more than viable.
Fair enough, just a lot harder with the reduced health.
Just fucking Love The halo soundtracks! Makes me so happy to hear them, god My life would have been terrible IF halo didn't exist
Liam Ahlqvist mine to

Ur definitely top 5 halo youtuber but I'm not sure which place you are. Keep it up!
Forgot to mention slide distances vorpal talon has the best and the slide thrust jump actually slows you down rather than slide jump
Even when I know everything about the weapon I still love watching these videos. They are awesome!!!
this is the most beautiful thing i've seen on your channel yet
Just found your channel. This is a really cool series. I look forward to diving deeper into your analysis! Thanks for putting it out for Halo fans!
gravity hammer analysis would be good
Yeah, I hope he consider it.
Cobrasnake81 He already did that...
Another amazing video Aozolai
Thank you so much for all your hard work. I love everything about your videos. You are my favourite halo youtuber. Your style of content is far suoerior to anything else out there.
Funny how I went from that video to this one.
I have been watching your Halo 5 weapon analysis videos for a while now and must admit, sometimes I enjoy watching them just to hear the weapon sounds but this video has vastly changed my opinion on the Energy Sword in Halo 5 and has me wanting to only use the Vorpal Talon variant. great job collecting the data :D very interesting, I'm always excited for the next new video :O
Another great analysis video, keep up the good work. Also I was in that WZA game lol
That was a cool animation for the transition into the infection clip.
Ps: I love your videos, please keep making more!
My fave UA-camr! Keep it up bro ur awesome
Can you do incineration cannon analysis? The heart seeker can confuse me
Wolfmansman don't charge it and only fire when you have a red reticle.
So if i want it to heat seek a vehicle when its charged up... i cant do that?
Wolfmansman no. it has an airburst feature on air vehicles. if you get a charged shot and it's close to one it will explode.
This was a very in-depth and help analysis. Thank you.
Keep doing what you're doing Aozolai. You are THE top Halo5-ologist
I've been waiting for this... thank you...
The vorpal talon is one of my favorite variant of weapons
Your thumbnails are sooooo epic, also nice job on these vids :D
Thanks bud!
Good editing skills thumbs up!
Ravening + x3 speed boost= flash in halo 5
I admire the Sangheili as a culture, as well as their beautiful technologies
8:42 He was a bussiness man, doing bussiness
wow wish I would've found this channel before reaching lvl 124
That map look good and the music at the beginning nice touch
Great analysis!
So like swords are more mobile and hammers do more dm? And some crowd control?
Joseph Burger
Swords have range, speed and maneuverability while hammers have knock back, area of effect and are more useful against vehicles and tankier enemies.
Thank you so much for using undercover of night 😍
Love the Vorpal Talon Colors
My man delivered today :)
OMG your the best, great video men 👍
Plasma Pistols next please! I really want to see the black hole creating one. Can't remember it's name though.
The Emperor voids tear
Thanks.
So ravening is basically the halo 2 energy sword,i presume?
You should compare the accuracy/range of a weapon while crouched vs while standing. I mainly want to know the difference for weapons like BR and Magnum but I wonder if it affects all weapons.
Your videos need more credit and subs! They're awesome!
Is it me or is the Prophet Bane sounding like an lightsaber from star wars everytime it is swung or left there.
The swords with hand guards are modeled after the ones the arbiter used in Halo Wars 1
wow, thanks for this! I never knew energy swords affected player movement/speed/agility.
I have a question. What is the map called that you do most analysing on? Thanks in advance.
Damn, Halo really does have the best music.
The infected sword and vorpal talon are the coolest looking swords ever!!!
I like that first shot.
7:37 music
Dead intrusion (Halo 3)
Great video, dude. What's your favorite sword variant?
Vorpal Talon
here comes the "can you do the gravity hammers plz?" comments
Great video and song
Gravity Hammer analysis next? :)
I wish they'd add the steam effects to the energy swords like we see in the cutscenes of Wars 1 and Wars 2
Hey Aozolai, next time, see if you can do a gravity hammer analysis
Gravity hammers next?
People can get really pissy if you use the sword effectively in Grifball. I've gotten my fair share of friendly messages.
the last part about the gravity hammer reminded me about how they buffed the range of the gravity hammer thus making the energy sword useless in Griffball :(
Pandough hammer beats sword, sword beats ball, ball beats hammer. isn't that how it works?
Pandough yes
Ryan Prellwitz 😂hammer is better then sword and ball from what I've seen
It's not the damage that is the problem, it's that they changed it so gravity hammer can 1 hit kill out of its Red Reticle Range.
Pandough and it can swing really fast 😂
Actually, energy swords can definitely beat gravity hammers if you distance yourself and time it correctly. After lots of Grifball, I can pretty much beat any 1v1 situation where I have energy sword and enemy has hammer
Alexis Alexander Yeah but Hammers do have a slight capability advantage in a straight out 1v1, since hammer swing can black swords whilst swords can't block hammer. But every encounter can be unique for sure
Can you do one on the grunts ?
Can you do fuel rod guns next please. Nice video ,and thankyou for these.
What are more was that in the very beginning?
sword + spartan charge + speed boost is an overpowered tactic tbh
romand271 use a vorpal talon+speedboost+upgraded thrusters armor mod =op
I don't like h5 so I haven't played it in a while (found it boring compared to previous halos - h2 will always be a fav for both campaign and multiplayer for me) but I always enjoy these videos. I wish someone would have done this for MCC. so many mechanics like momentum and shit that would've been cool to see break downs on!
keep it up, maybe h6 will be great and you'll be THE source for information!!!
Used my favorite halo soundtrack of all time
You forgot that a normal melee with the Grav Hammer will block a Sword strike.
Vorpral Talon and death from above long stabilizations
At 4:49 how did you double thrust?
Wait nvm just watched the rest of the vid vorpal talon lets u thrust twice
so vorpal talon + an active camo is better than the prophets bane
plasma pistol analysis would be noice
Nice Video!
what armor are you wearing dude
ODST Alpha-417 Achilles I believe.
How do you get the other player to do everything at the same time when you are comprising?
¿Cual es tu armadura?
Why isnt the red energy sword in the game
next time can you t-bag after you kill the dummy?
That guy with cammo never understood what you were doing lol.
Haha, nope
I didn't get it either watching it the first time to be honest. Probably because the idea of someone willing to give up a fairly expensive power weapon cause they think someone else will be better able to use it at moment in a random public match would never even occur to me.

tfw u get an infected sword in superfiesta
Thanks!
I don't play halo. I don't even have an Xbox one, but I love your videos x3 It's so relaxing watching them
there is no point in using the prophets bane when you cant even see it. just get the ravening sliver and activate a camo req
No entendí, a que te refieres
With the Sandbox weapon tunning, you'll need to update this :/ P.S. I love your videos!
If you time your melee right you can cancel the hammer swing animation. I know this from experience and counted myself lucky.
I just followed cause you use achilles armor keep doing that
I miss the old energy sword sound
what is the intro music?
You forgot to show the damage to vehicles since swords are superpowerful
what does the infected sword do over the normal 1
Nothing, it's just unique to infection
You seem to really prefer Vorpal Talon
great video! I think you could have pointed out how much it sucks that melees don't have any effect when trying to trade with sword-wielding spartans. it's top-notch bs
I will say that there is some incentive for me to play Halo 5. Namely; the weapons and vehicles; there's so much variation.
u forgot show the damage, against a vehicle or overshield, is the same damage for all the swords?
Same damage
Still trying to get vorpal talon like
