The Transgo Shift Kit talks about the 3rd band needing to be re-used or replaced with an OE band for the AW55-50SN and all I can say is that I wish I would have read this prior to the rebuild... I am now removing the Trans in order to remove the aftermarket band that I installed in hopes that this will eliminate a 2-3 flare, although I see now that I may need to adjust the solenoids since I installed the shift kit. Thank You for taking the time to share these videos and your experience with us, I have been in the industry for over 25 yrs and continue to learn something new everyday. Keep up the great work and thanks again.

Hi Hiram, Thank you for all your clear video's on the AW55-50SN. I have a 2007 Renault VelSatis with that gearbox. It has over 200k kms and still drives and changes gears as new. I used your video's to check upon a spare gearbox I obtained. That one has only less than half of the kms as the one in the car. When I eventually need that one I know now that it is in a very good condition.

Hiram, your videos are excellent... and you know your boxes. If I were in your area I'd be keen to spend a month working under your expert guidance. During my apprenticeship years in the early to mid-80s I helped my journeyman overhaul many Borg Warner 65/66 boxes (Jaguar XJ6/Rover), and the occasional GM400 (Jaguar XJS) ... in those days the gearboxes were purely mechanical.

hello I greatly appreciate all the information in the videos that you've been giving. I just recently purchased a 1998 volvo V 70 all wheel drive and I am having a situation it runs and drives for about 3 minutes then goes into neutral altogether I turn it off and it gets drive again for at least 30 seconds and I can repeat the process I hear a slight wine while it's running and when it when it quits the warning does too but like I said as soon as I turn it off for a minute and turn it back on the wine and comes back and it drives so on so forth please advice I appreciate your help I know you live off of this and I wish I were in your town to take this transmission to you

Hi, I have a Saab 9-5 2010, I have a problem with a errors P0778 and P0966. The errors refer to a problem with solenoid B. We are replace the solenoid and we check all installation cable and everything was correct but it again repeated the mistakes after a short time. Du you have any idea what we should check next or what could be really mistake? thanks in advance...

If the transmission shifts well when it is cold, does that mean the clutch packs are fine? Or is that not definitive enough? 2005 Maxima, shifting gets worse when it warms up fully, not sure how long previous owner drove like this.

I just fitted the Transgo kit to a Volvo S60 AWD '02 model with success. Without your help, I wouldn't have been able to do it so thanks and keep up the great work. I'm now about to do the same on an '02 XC70 with same symptoms.
I also have a '01 XC70 'box on the bench with what appears to be a failed S4 solenoid. When I apply voltage it makes no noise whatsoever. It passed the resistance check however it is gummed up with a lot of black sludge.
In your experience can this solenoid be restored by use of solvent cleaning? Cheers

My friend just did the valve body upgrade on his '01 V70XC and now everything slips horribly. Auto transmissions are the devil.

It wasn't the valve body causing loss of 3rd gear; I should have come back in to let you guys know. The 3rd gear band brake had worn beyond limits. I replaced it by dropping the subframe and removing the side cover. It was a hairy 14 hours of slog.

Hi, I am in the process of replacing the shift valve solenoid on my 1999 Infiniti I30, and I am testing the new OEM part that I bought online through Infinitipartsusa.com and the A,B and overrun clutch solenoids are not clicking when I apply 12 volt battery power to each of their termials and ground. The torque converter clutch and the line pressure however, are clicking and seem to be operating. I am testing it in accordance with the online Nissan/Infiniti Factory Service Manual. I have not installed it yet because I want to make sure it is not faulty before I install it. Am I testing it properly? It seems unusual for three solenoids on a brand new part to be defective.
