Most speedruns of games before online patches were possible used the Japanese version simply because it featured some glitches that were patched before they were released internationally. There’s also the fact that Japanese text is usually shorter than the English text. Nowadays, online patches are common, if not expected, and choosing the language can sometimes just be down to preference; which to speedrunners, will probably be Japanese due to having dealt with the previous region-differences. OR... I could be full of shit and they’re just all weebs.
Why do all Sonic speedrunners play Unleashed, Colors, and Generations in Japanese? Craig Smith wasn't casted as Sonic till 2010. Do they hate Griffith as well? (I honestly found Griffith good, but I grew up with Craig Smith, and I think he's good, too. (Just my opinion.))
You jumping to conlusions...from all the people that i know that speedrun those games nobody hates any VA old or new. A few reasons for you seeing people playing with JPN VA is: -Faster in Japanese -Changing it up and not playing with the same VA all the time is a nice change of pace after hours upon hearing the same stuff. -They got new records in those VAs and so they uploaded that vod. -They are prefer certain stuff to be heard in japanese. -Their origin is from Japan.
That is because its a little faster cause you go into a transition after the hit. If i keep the pause screen up the imagebackground will change to where i land. Holding for so long isn't worth it though cause i am actually losing time but for a split second i gain a bit. its not much by any means but its just pausing and unpausing so ez to do.
Almost flawless, single segment wise... Amazing job dude! Can't really see this ever being beat without the IL Speed Highway strats tbh, but hey, you never know. :P
