Nice job Rick. I picked up a new Annie about 3 months ago, also made my own start cord. Haven't had call to use Annie yet, was wondering if I wasted my money, but this video convinced me I didn't; nice to see all that info right there on the box. Great command and control! I can definitely see a use for that in the right situation at the right time. Glad I bought it now! Thanks!
I would like to have that cord, there's times where I would rather have that. And they do sell an updated version of it too but wow, they want like $190 or $250 for this cord. It's stupid
As you stated, the multiple times the system was low on charge put a strain on that compressor/start components. Annie is the fancy version of nor cal's start cord.
Ebay or build it was one of my 2 routes, the purchase price for a tester like this at today's price is to high in my opinion. I like nice tools but I also like my money😁
I've never been accused of being quick at Refrigeration LOL. When I go to work this is more of a project that I do every day more than just a job. So I enjoy trying to do it right and making it last the longest, plus because of the way I chose to be paid we are not paid for callbacks. So all responsibility is on me if I want to make the better money.
Annie was a bad girl and bit me. I think the green compressor test lead touched the aluminium frame of the tester. I cut it out my response because of my reaction. 😁
What do you use to record and also keep it mounted yo the side of the unit while working on it and filming, I am trying to find a tripod of some sort with magnetic feet to mount to the side of the unit while filming. and suggestions
Yeah, the aluminum inside the case is getting a little bit corroded and starting to turn to powder. I'm thinking of updating Annie's displays to digital. I blew up the ohm meter by accident trying to use the capacitors as an external start components on a live system. 😭👎
Ah , the joys of single phase equipment ! I'll never understand why they refuse to give you a hp port , I get that on this type of small units the most important will be LP and there's not much room , but a lot of times they do have room and they've even put a 1/4 inch tube on the high side , only they've bloody brased it shut 😡
Generally there is no refrigeration ports on small critically charged systems because some fool comes along and dumps a crap load of refrigerant in there without properly diagnosing the system.
HVACR Survival I’ve seen them come up to the unit, scratch their head and then proceed to cut the pinched process tubes, then weld taps and then proceed to diagnose the problem. I tell them that’s the last thing they need to do. Look , feel and then that’s the last resort.
@@captainkirk7702 I like to completely remove the charge and weigh in the factory amount so I know it is correct, then if anything is weird, I know where to start but I'd like to see the before and after pressures 1st before making any changes.
Good video..Most techswouldof walked away once they put 3 in 1 on..Good job sticking it out and finding the true problem
I like the challenge of making it work or at least try my best before giving up. Thanks for watching and commenting👍👍
Good job double check, give the customers your best will always give you call for return work when needed.
Honesty is the best policy. Document everything you told them and let then decided.

A Good Technician sees big picture. I learned more. thanks for video.
Definitely got to be aware of your surroundings. It really is a case of forensics trying to get all the evidence for a proper diagnostic and repair.

I change the compressor today and it's a good thing I changed it. It looked bad.
Time to pull out O'l Annie.. she a trooper.... good find on the LRA compressor.. enjoy your vids!
Hey Rick good call on that compressor- I need to get me one of those fancy gadgets now - keep up the good work

Leftover french fries compared to the big racks your playing with😁
Nice 👍 haven’t used the Annie in years.
Nice catch, half the guys I work with would add the 3 in one and ran.

look in the description down below I think the third kid has my stuff I'm using for recording.
This is in my recommendation a year later, lol
I ❤ Annie 🤓
Slap a compressor in that puppy and she'll be good for another 10 years. Did that many tImes during my career. Love Annie!

With that age and repair history I'm very surprised they're going to put a compressor in it.
I agree, unfortunately sometimes people want to invest as little as possible into their equipment.
Going to do a comp changeout video on this one?
Did it today👍👍
👍👍👍

HVACR Survival so agree!
HVACR Survival let me be straight I don’t do that but I’ve seen a lot of other people that will do that because they don’t know what their doing.
