Without Blade succeeding, we don't get The X-Men and Spider-Man or the idea of creating the MCU. Yes, it's a very important movie in the realm of Super Hero films.
Blade is referred to as the movie that saved Marvel. It was released long before the modern day MCU and the success of the Fox X-Men movie franchise. In the late 90's, New Line Cinema took a gamble on an obscure, peripheral, Marvel anti-hero, that most folks never heard of outside of 70's Marvel lore and a brief appearance on Fox's popular early 90's animation series centered around Spider-Man. With almost no fanfare, and fueled solely on Snipes' star-power recognition, Blade entered theaters in 97 as the first Marvel movie to be rated R. It was a blockbuster success, spawning 2 sequels and cementing Wesley's legacy as a star. It also heralded the new wave of comic book to film successes that breathed new life into Marvel.
I saw this movie in the theaters 3 times, and each time during the Blood Bath, people walked out of the theater. I thought, "What a way to open a movie." It establishes that vampires are not to be romanticized. Then enters The Day Walker/Blade (Dahampir), the nightmire of our nightmires. As much as I love blade, my favourite Wesley Snipes performance has to be as Simon Phoenix in Demolition Man. Can't be beaten, and I can't imagine any other actor coming close to making that character work so very well. Entertaining as a hell.
It's a long-held theory of mine that the reason Blade was able to absolutely body Deacon Frost's "La Magra" form in the end is because the ritual that invigorated Frost was missing that 12th vampire bloodline after Frost's impulsive, blonde companion murdered them right before the ritual started.
Actually the media never said black panther was the first black superhero movie, thats how people were making it out to be to pushback at the popularity & success of the black panther movie at the time because society only really likes comparing/gatekeeping when it's black related subjects rather than just simply doing a quick Google search- they said black panther was the first black superhero in general, which is true. She did cure herself. Blade didn't take the cure bc he wanted to continue the fight. Most vampires are created by being bitten, near death receiving vampire blood, receiving vampire blood dying, reviving. Some take it a step further, you are not completely turned until you make your first kill.

Let's be clear...THIS move started the Marvel Movie machine as we know it. I'm 53 years old, and vividly remember when this came out in 1998. I can't tell you how many times I saw this in the theater. Wes Snipes...Blade...is where it STARTED!! And that's why all of us lost our minds when Blade appeared in Deadpool & Wolverine. It's been way too long since we've seen him on the big screen. I will forever argue the introduction of Blade in the first 10 minutes is the BEST Marvel intro of all-time.
The Blade movies are amazing! Plus he's easy on the eyes!! Wesley did most of his stunts. He knows martial arts very well. Asia I love your shirt Aaliyah 🩷🤍
Saw this when it came out on the big screen! First time I heard about Blade, the character, was in the 90s Spiderman animated series! Snipes flicks worth the watch off the top of my head: Passenger 57, Brooklyn's Finest, U.S. Marshals, Demolition Man, The Art Of War...
When screenwriter David S. Goyer first pitched the idea of doing a Blade movie, the executives of New Line felt there were only three actors who could possibly do the role: Wesley Snipes, Denzel Washington and Laurence Fishburne, but in Goyer's mind, Snipes was always the perfect choice for the character of Blade. There is a deleted alternate ending where Blade was talking to Dr. Karen on the roof of the building. Off in the distance you can see a person standing on another rooftop looking at them and that person is Morbius. Dr. Karen notices him and tells Blade they're being watched, Blade turns around and says damn!
In lore when a vampire bites someone they turn when they drink blood for the first time, but if they never drink blood they become ghouls which is what homegirls creepy x coworker turns into. Not technically. There are a few before this that are forgotten or some people pretend didn't exist. They just weren't successful. Like Howard The Duck who is technically a Marvel character...after all he was in Guardians Of The Galaxy. 😂
@@toodlescae i remember that Howard The Duck (1986). . . big hair, whatever suit or how they did it good as the 90's ninja turtles that principle from Ferris Bueller too and the love interest??? yeah a bit too frisky with the duck it seemed a bit weird

This is Marvel, Presley I believe if it wasn't for Wesley Snipes' Blade, Hugh Jackman's Wolverine and Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man we probably wouldn't have a MCU today
Blade did in fact save New Line Cinema. That production house had a strong start with A Nightmare on Elm Street series, but started to have much financial troubles, but with this film project also merged with then Time Warner (which is not Warner Bros. Studios). Blade was essential in New Line being taking over by Warner Bros., which by the way were co-producers with Village Roadshow Pictures, and the distributors of the whole Matrix films franchise.
Comics were dying. Marvel sold most of their A-Listers.This was Marvel's test project. Marvel did not want their name attached to a project in case it failed. When it blew up, Marvel realized that they should jump from comics to movies. Then they started planning the MCU. Tracy Lords! If you know, you know. Blood Rave!!!

1. Snipes is a black belt in multiple martial arts disciplines 2. Karen found a cure and cured herself 3. Karen created the EDTA to "explode vampire heads. 4. Karen still needs to work on Blade's serum
This movie's success is directly responsible for The X-Men and Spider-Man movie's to be made in the early 2000's abd led to the idea of creating the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We owe it all to Blade in a round about way.

Fun fact- the little Asian girl being held hostage by deacon frost in the blade vs frost sunlight scene is actually Disney princess Brenda Song.
What's crazy spawn came out the year before this
The Blade movies are amazing! Plus he's easy on the eyes!! Wesley did most of his stunts. He knows martial arts very well. Asia I love your shirt Aaliyah 🩷🤍
Watching others enjoy one of my top 3 favorite movies of all time, is such a treat. Love the channel and wholesomeness.
Yessssss!!! I was just able to go to the underground house clubs in socal when confusion (the song) was still played. Crazy times 😂
Confusion - New Order (Pump Panel Reconstruction Mix). Amazing tune. One love. 💙 🦇🧛♀️🧛♂️🏴
Blade cries on the inside and never shows his weaknesses
Yes Whistler is like a father figure to Blade so yes Blade was upset.
Oh my god havent seen this movie in 50 years will be like watching it for the 1st time again
Can't wait for you to watch parts 2 and 3. You should look into the Underworld movies. Vampires vs Werewolves.
They had a karate awards in the 90s on tv one day and Wesley Snipes was awarded like 5th degree balckbelt... i think i need to find that video
Found it, its called the Masters of Martial Arts on TNT.
In lore when a vampire bites someone they turn when they drink blood for the first time, but if they never drink blood they become ghouls which is what homegirls creepy x coworker turns into. This movie is absolutely solid, I can’t believe how much you guys jumped and laughed 😂😂 the first marvel movie 🤘🏾🤘🏾
Not technically. There are a few before this that are forgotten or some people pretend didn't exist. They just weren't successful. Like Howard The Duck who is technically a Marvel character...after all he was in Guardians Of The Galaxy. 😂
@ yes, if we’re talking about historically it’s like AD vs BC 😂😂😂
@@toodlescae i remember that Howard The Duck (1986). . . big hair, whatever suit or how they did it good as the 90's ninja turtles
that principle from Ferris Bueller too and the love interest??? yeah a bit too frisky with the duck it seemed a bit weird
@jayeisenhardt1337 oh it was definitely trippy but I made sure I have it on dvd. 🤣
The girl was Lea Thompson from Back To The Future. She played Marty's mom.
People think it was the X-men movies that sparked the modern era of "comic movies" that we all enjoy so much, but it as Blade that began it all.
The Crow 1994 next! Blade and the Crow ran the late 90s!
Blade 1 and 2 are amazing.
Hope you check the sequel out too!
You really need to watch Demolition Man. It’s a great movie that has gotten better with age and it stars Sylvester Stallone and Wesley Snipes.
This is Marvel, Presley I believe if it wasn't for Wesley Snipes' Blade, Hugh Jackman's Wolverine and Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man we probably wouldn't have a MCU today
Thx guys, blade 2 is my fav...hope you continue the trilogy!
you need too see (Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels) look like Snatch👌
This movie and soundtrack are classics.
Blade (this movie), Began the Marvel cinematic universe as we know it today.
Such a great flick. 2nd one is just as good. Wesley is one of the many actors I'll watch anything he's in. He'll always be Blade. Great reaction y'all.
the crispy guy, the one who took blade's sunglasses, that guys is Donal Logue. he is an amazing actor, he's appeared in a ton of tv shows, he had his own sitcom for 5 years ("grounded for life"), he was "harvey bulloch" on "gotham", and he even graduated from Harvard. dood is cool AF.
Good reaction y'all ✌️
1. Snipes is a black belt in multiple martial arts disciplines
2. Karen found a cure and cured herself
3. Karen created the EDTA to "explode vampire heads.
4. Karen still needs to work on Blade's serum
Blade came before the matrix
This movie's success is directly responsible for The X-Men and Spider-Man movie's to be made in the early 2000's abd led to the idea of creating the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We owe it all to Blade in a round about way.
"You know it's a good party when the girls are dancing with girls" PREACH bro
Can't believe y'all never saw Blade yet, priceless reactions from Asia 😂, love you guys 💯🇮🇪💚
