    With all due respect this litter is amazing, actually. I’ve had cats my whole life, we currently have six cats. When I first saw this review I was a bit dismayed, we had just bought a bag and changed over from Tidy-cat. The most impressive thing about the walnut litter is how well it absorbs Urine smell. Cleaning the boxes is WAY less smelly now, and the dust is, actually, way less. It also can be vacuumed up easier because it’s lighter than the conventional litters. The actual smell of the litter is very agreeable, I’d call it “woodsy”. We kept one of the boxes for a few weeks with the Tidy Cat litter, and the cats stopped using it. They much prefer the Walnut litter. Honestly, it’s a game changer at our six cat home. Just thought I would post this because my wife and I were quite surprised after viewing this video that the review was so bad- the Walnut Litter is really good, and none of our white pawed cats have brown stains after a month, not sure what that’s all about. We’ve been using this litter for about six weeks.

    I’ve been looking into different kinds of litter because I’m researching lots of stuff to prepare for getting a cat. This review was EXTREMELY helpful for me since this was at the top of the list of interest for possibilities. I know other people have said that they’ve really enjoyed the litter even with the dust, but I have to find the least dusty litter possible that’s still good for my future cat since I’m in a household that requires little to no dust (or dander but I’ve been researching that too) around the area. So thank you so much for this review! ❤

    This litter is great!! I don’t have an issue with odor as I scoop daily. The litter is a bit dusty but not a terrible issue for me. I noticed that when the litter was fresh out of the bag that the clumps seemed fragile, but as the litter sits in the pan and dries out, the clumping is much better. Also, you can not let this litter or any litter for that matter get too low, other wise you will run into issues with it sticking to the bottom of the pan. I keep the litter topped off and every clump is intact every time, no sticking. I currently have this litter mixed with corn litter, but I think I will try mixing it with grass seed litter next. Grass seed litter is by far the very best for clumping, but it goes fast!! So mixing it with either walnut or corn makes it last much much longer, as you will get the absorbency benefits of walnut shells combined with the clumping benefits of the grass seed litter.

    I was doing my research about this litter and came across this video, I have three cats and a dog, thank you for taking the time to do this, but on a side note, I wanted to add, if you have dogs, walnut shells are highly toxic to them and I know some dogs can get into litter boxes, some know what I'm talking about, but if this gets tracked all over, I'd be worried about my pup, and also the dust would concern me, especially since cats can easily get respiratory infections.

    This is probably the most critical video I’ve seen of NaturallyFresh. But you make very valid points. It is rather dusty especially the more you run the bag down as the dust settles on the bottom. Tracking is definitely noticeable. Even more noticeable cause of the color which can be a dealbreaker. Unless you have a long matching floor mat or rug or even floors. I found that this clump better than pine and corn fibers. Granted I’m using the MultiCat version which has better clumping agents than the quick clumping version?. Can’t confirm here. Others that have tried both versions can chime in. Odor Control is excellent. Oh and my cat who also has white paws doesn’t actually brown which actually made me look at her paws and they’re still white. I will keep monitoring it but so far I’m very satisfied with it.

      A Month later, I stopped using it. The dust started to become more evident the more I used it and the more I ran down the bag. It got progressively worse. Clumping wise it was very good. But the dust storm is such a deal breaker.

    I appreciate this review so much and wish I had read it before I bought the giant bag. I keep the litter box in a closet in my spare bedroom. The entire room and hallway are covered in cat litter. Like, I vacuumed yesterday and the litter is back less than 24 hours later. The clumps are impossible to scoop because they fall apart the second I touch them with the scoop. Except for the clumps on the bottom, which are like cement. Now I’m desperately trying to use up this giant bag so I can try clumping wood litter.

I have a mat down that catches the litter, his paws do not get dusty like it does with corn. My cats are grey and black so the lighter color litter turns their paws yellowish unlike yours that turns your brown…I do put baking soda down when I clean their box which holds down any smell. I like this litter will not get mold like the tofu and corn ones can.

    I started using this and have the Red bag as it's branded as multi-cat (I have 2).
    My complains:
    1. When my cats bury their poo, the litter doesnt adhere well enough to the poo. So the smell permeates outside the box
    2. In connection to the first point, the odour masking ability so far is 3/5 to me
    I mask when I refill and clean the box so the dust doesnt bother me. As for tracking I have the double layer cat pad so their paws are clean by the time they step on the floor
    I have yet to fully put a rating on it. So far it's ok because I really dislike the ammonia smell found on cheap litter. It gives me a headache and it cant be good for your health

  • @LoveToday8
    @LoveToday8 11 місяців тому

    One of my cat sitting clients uses this and I was surprised at how well it works for odor control. When a cat makes a fecal deposit you're going to smell it if you're close by, I don't think any litter can immediately absorb that. If you know of one, let me know, especially if it's all natural. One of my cats doesn't cover her deposits and there is a smell but I've found using rocco & Roxie litter box odor eliminator really helps with that. I just mix that in occasionally or in the moment and the smell is gone. It does track but i find it only tracks in the hallway closet where I keep my cats litter box. I'm sure if I put a mst down it would help but it's not that big a deal for me. I love naturally fresh. Everyone's experience will be different and it works for me.

    I’m shocked by this review! I’ve been using this litter for 4 boxes, and 7 cats and 2 weeks. I’ve loved it! I switched from being a loooooong time (10+ yrs!) user of pine pellets because my newest kitten was badly allergic. I was looking for a video on how to refresh the litterbox to separate out non clumped used litter and came across this video. For every con mentioned on her trial run, I have had the opposite experience and am baffled. I don’t smell pee at all. Only poop and only when scooping/close up. Pee doesn’t seem to clump- its the loose stools of poop that is clumping only. No dust, almost no tracking (I actually wonder if her kitties are kicking litter out of their boxes when covering their waste?), and my cats with white socks/feet, have no stains and still have white feet. But, that doesn’t invalidate any of this lady’s experiences. More just says “try it for yourself cause you may have a totally different experience”

    • @nyctus2024

      Walnut does not clump as well as clay but it does clump well if you know how to scoop. You just need to scoop it with care and it should be fine, clay may be convenient and easy to clean waste but it's a known carcinogen and can trigger asthma in cats and people, it is also not enviromentally friendly as clay litter, as it promotes Strip mining, which damages the enviroment. Clay when discarded also does not biodegrade and is left in landfills which take up lots of space. But overall, no litter is going to get rid of smell. Litter should not be about smell, The focus and benefit is a no risk of developing asthma or cancer and that it's enviromentally friendly. Thats why ur supposed to clean it every time the cats use the box. No litter can stop the smell of waste, its ur job to clean it. I have 3 fur-babies, and I clean mine 3 times a day. Its the equivalent of not flushing ur toilet, of course its going to smell! If people can't maintain a routine, they shouldn't own a cat.

    • @EastmanEditing
      @EastmanEditing 10 місяців тому

      I agree! I just got my first cat (so take my opinion somewhat lightly) but I have house sat countless felines and almost all of my friends and close family have more than one cat, so I feel like I am at least knowledgeable about certain aspects of litter. There are a couple people in my life whose homes always smell like "cat" so I asked everyone I knew what litter they used (sneakily knowing I might avoid whatever litter the "smelly" houses used hah) and what I found is that any scented litter seems to make the house smell worse and MORE like cat pee/ammonia. That being said, it made me wonder if they were cleaning their boxes less, in hopes that the scent was masking any bad odors? No one I asked used walnut litter, (everyone used regular clay litter, mostly unscented except for the couple mentioned above) but I really wanted to use a natural and environmentally friendly one and I'm allergic to grass (so grass seed is out) and I didn't like the way the coconut litters seemed to be too messy and tricky to clean. So far, I have noticed no ammonia smell from this at all, only poop smell immediately afterwards and so I scoop it out immediately. But I can smell poo with other litters immediately too. I have only had my cat for a few days so I'll update once the litter is a bit more "seasoned," but so far I love that I can't smell the pee at all when I'm scooping, unlike most other litters I've used when cat sitting.

    • @EastmanEditing
      @EastmanEditing 10 місяців тому

      Oh also, I also noticed NO dust at all. Like whatsoever...so that's weird! I wonder if she got a bad bag? There are only a few small bits of tracking right in front of the boxes on the mats as expected, and the rugs right next to the boxes are white and I haven't seen any brown stains or paw prints at all either. As for clumping, I am immediately scooping, so I wonder if it gets more brittle over time as it sits? I haven't had any trouble scooping. There are just a few small pieces that break off but are easy enough to scoop again. Even the pee is clumping for me. It's not "perfection" like some clay litters, but it's one extra scoop so I don't mind at all.

    Clay litter is not environmentally friendly, as its made by strip mining, clay is also a known carcinogen to cats and people, as it is very dusty and the dust will stay in ur lungs for a long time. Your cat can develope asthma from clay litter and can cause lung cancer. I'd say walnut is definitely a good alternative since it is natural and is very similar to clay in terms of clumping. Clumping is not as firm so you do need to scoop more carefully. There is also virtually no dust, and while some do have dust, walnut dust is harmless and can be dealt with by ur immune system, and will break down if caught in ur lungs. also know that no litter can completely get the rid of ammonia or poop stench, this is why ur supposed to clean it every time the cats use the box. No litter can stop the smell of waste, its ur job to clean it. I clean mine 3 times a day. Its the equivalent of not flushing ur toilet, of course its going to smell and thats what ur doing if you don't clean it as a routine.

    I absolutely hated this litter. Since it’s dark you’d have no idea if your cat had a health issue like blood in their urine. Also it was so dusty my cats paws would be covered in brown dust when they got out of their box and then they’d try to lick it off and ingesting clumping litter is LIFE THREATENING!!! I used it for about 3 days before throwing it all out :\

    I doubt she actually tested this. It was superior to clay for me.
