Good Informations.I should say this is mostly applicable to the region you are living in. Rent can vary largly from place to place especially when you move to bigger cities ( London area, Birmingham, Manchester etc.)
May I suggest some correction:
1) Students have no exemption from tax. Your wife's income comes below the taxable income slab, that is why she is exempted.
2) Council Tax : If you are have a student and a Dependent, you have partial exemption in the Council tax. please read through your council's tax page.
True. In cities, we'll have to pay more than 1000 for the same 1 BHK. Also, the I believe the electricity prices discussed here are for summer months. In Winters, it could be 2X-3X.
