It is sad to say but I no longer like the country I was born in, I am so fed up of all the immigrants and the disrespect they feel for this country. they are just hear hoping for a free ride......I immigrated to Canada fifty years ago and I loved my life there , unfortunately through no fault of my own I came back to England on a holiday and never was able to get back to Canada to live, I can say it was the worst thing that ever happened to me.....I still have friends there and have been back to visit many times and fortunately my son is Canadian as my grandchildren are.

If you let them go while you prepare the paperwork, of course they're going to rabbit! Duh! Prep the paperwork ahead of time. Fill in the name at time of arrest and drive them to the airport!

It's a legal thing. I could be wrong but I assume customs didn't have all the documents (ie. passport, ID, etc) to 100% confirm they are in breach of their visa so they can't just keep them locked up. So they release them on a temporary visa while awaiting for the documents with the legal obligation to visit an immigration centre every week or so. When they fail to show up, they are now legally in breach so customs finally has ground to deport them even without their documents, and on top of that they are now identified in a database so they can't really hide for long and it's only a matter of time until they are caught.
By disappearing you remove their need to procure documents confirming your status. Basically, it works like this:
1) Enforcement of law requires incontrovertible evidence, not hearsay.
2) Without documentation (or i.d. via fingerprint check, etc.), it can’t be directly proven that a person is within a country illegally. It also means they can’t prove their legal defense.
3) So, they’re released, and required to report while waiting for documents.
4) If a person then fails to report, the country they’re in can directly state that they’ve broken a law in that country. Following that procedure allows them to enforce deportation even if the home country is failing to provide travel documents. Some countries (like China) can take a year or longer to respond to document requests, so this can actually speed up the removal process.
Note that this wouldn’t work for a country the size of the U.S. The U.K. is about 40 times smaller than the U.S. with England only being as big as Alabama. Our states are the size of other countries, and borders between states can be far more lax in control. It’s just too easy to remain hidden.

@@williamsimmons152 Actually, most citizens in most Western nations always carry some form of ID, be it government issued ID, drivers license, Residence Permit Card or Passport. The two latter is REQUIRED to carry if you are a non-citizen and drivers license is REQUIRED if you drive a car.

Usually the flights they go on have free seats, so it doesn’t really cost anything to fill the gap, the extra fuel is almost nothing unless they are extremely overweight.
As former cabin crew, they’re normally put on a flight that has spare seats. As each airline pays for a “slot” for their aircraft to take off and land from that airport. It’s technically the airline that’s paying for their seats back.

Felt sorry for the guy. It's just transit - why isn't the airport built in a way to just let such people pass through without having to clear immigration? There probably aren't any direct flights to there from North America which means he's now fucked because having already been refused once the UK and other EU countries are likely to refuse him again. In my view, this was pure racism. The guy has a US green card because of which he does not need a visa to enter the UK. If he mistakenly applied for a UK transit visa and was rejected that does not prove anything. He clearly is having some problems communicating with the border agents and to me, it was pretty clear that he trained as a doctor in his native county but was working in a pharmacy in the US. They put this poor guy through a whole lot of trouble for no reason. Either they are just plain racist or stupid idiots.
