소향버전 여러분은 진짜 작정하고 본인 테크닉의 절정의 끝판왕을 보여준 노래임. 소향이 인터뷰때도 제일 힘들다고 꼽은 노래중에 하나이기도함. 7분동안 쉬는 구간 거의 없고 하이노트 벨팅 쭉쭉 뿜으면서 열린소리 닫힌소리 셈여림 구간까지 너무 완벽함. 거기다 한국어 영어 혼합이라 가사 전달력도 그렇고 소향이 표현할 수 있는 음역대의 모든 부분을 가져다 쓴 노래. 다른 가수들은 따라하기도 힘든 아르페지오 구간은 진짜 말이 안될 정도로 부드럽게 연결되고 그냥 보는 내내 입 벌리면서 봐야 되는 노래임. 너무 테크닉에 몰두해서 어떤 사람들은 감동이 덜 느껴진다고 할 수 있지만 이걸 방송 그것도 라이브로 부른건 그냥 역사에 길이 남을 노래임. 심지어 제스쳐 표정 무대의상까지 삼박자가 탁월하고 완벽해서 소름돋을정도. 총 세 번 스타일이 바뀌는데 마지막까지 긴장의 끈을 놓치 않고 하이노트 빡빡 찍어 대는거 보면 경이로울 정도... 음도 완벽함 ㅠㅠ... 편곡도 가스펠 강점이라서 그런진 몰라도 더더욱 잘맞는 옷을 입었다고 생각됨. 대기실 프로가수들도 엄청 귀감이 되었을거라 생각됨. 다들 입떡떡 벌어져서 보는거 보는것 같이 (허각 마지막 얼굴만 봐도 '마지막 부분에서 저렇게?') 진짜진짜 들어도 들어도 소름돋는 노래
무려 7분동안...인간의 능력을 넘어선 그무언가를 보여준 무대인거같아요.당시 평가가 '너무 과하다' 였던걸로 기억하는데...전에 본적없는 무대였기에 받아들이기 힘들었겠죠ㅋ 외국에선 교과서같은 무대다라고 극찬하던데요ㅎ난 소향님 많은 레전드 무대중에 이무대가 재일 높게 평가받아야 한다고 생각합니다. 너무 너무 멋있어요ㅎ

This perf is truly expectacular and deserve to win but the Arirang Alone was performed when the theme was traditional songs and Song So Hee deserve that win. She's been singing traditional song since she's just a toddler. Also, its their traditional song, Koreans would have a better judgement than any foreign audience. 😘

In all other episodes, I agree with you that Sohyang easily surpassed anyone withnher ability to support every note she produced but in the folk song episode I think Sohyang were among the inferior ones as folk song legends were there.. If I remember it right, one legend say that Sohyang had the voice that fits folk song as she can reach very high notes, so should try practicing the craft.. Important thing there is she had the voice for the genre but she doesnt have the technique. I think technique is veryimportant for their folk song as it is very unique compared to others.. So to summarize. haha. In the folk song episode, even though you judge subjectively or objectively, if you keep the theme of that episode in mind, Sohyang only had a slight chance of winning that episode.

유독 소향 영상만 해외나 국내 차단을 많이 하는것 같다 이 영상도 잠깐 나왔다가 차단 되어서 조회수가 너무 적다 다른 일반 가수들 동영상이 몇천 찍고 있는데 소향 동영상만 차단 들어가더라~~ 제발 방송국 관계자님들 차단좀 그만 하시고 대한민국에 이런 대단한 가수가 있다는 것을 더욱 홍보해야 하는게 아닌가요?
너무 아쉬워요.... 이걸 소향 영어이름과 영어 자막 넣어서 올렸더라면 아마도 방탄 블핑과 함께 전 세계를 씹어먹을 전설의 공연실황이 되었을거라고 생각되네요. 정말 저런 고음과 고난이도로 7분의 러닝타임을 저런 열정과 흡인력과 완벽한 두성과 흉성을 포함한 진성으로 불러낼 수 있는 가수가 세상에 다시 나올 수 있을지가 의문이고, 그런 소향에게도 이 공연이야말로 백미였다고 생각됩니다. 지금이라도 세계로 눈을 더 열어주시고 저작권 걸어잠그기 보다는 국익을 위한 개방으로 생각을 바꿔주시면 좋겠습니다.
First and foremost SoHyang is a gospel singer and no-doubt this was a world-class gospel performance! So many techniques used in one epic song...she's in a league of her own.

이제서야 소향의 노래를 처음 들었습니다. 50 평생 음악을 들으면서 처음으로 느껴보는 전율인것 같습니다. 이십여년전에 조수미씨 콘서트가서 너무 맑고 아름다운 소리에 매료되어서 한동안 다른 음악을 듣지 못했던 기억이 있는데, 이건 전혀 다른 차원의 감동이네요. 이 무대가 신기록을 세우면서 일등을 못했다는게 충격인데요, 한국인들에게 익숙하지 않은 가스펠 장르, 영어가 섞였다는 점, 그리고... 또 한가지 추측해 보는건 이 무대와 음향시설이 소향의 엄청난 가창력을 담아내기에 부족함이 있지 않았나... 추측일뿐입니다. 콘서트갔을때 스피커 소리가 너무 크고 웅웅 거려서 제대로 감상을 못한 경험들이 있거든요... 어쨋든 소향 노래들 하나씩 찾아 봐야겠습니다. 너무 기대가 되네요.
When i watch Ailee performance , i was like "woah it really heartwarming and lovely" with all the kids gathering sing with her it was really lovely perfomance , but then i saw so hyang and i was like "😭😭😭😭😢😢"
As a Singer myself, once I discovered So Hyang my senses has been opened more about devotion to the music. She is the perfect example of love transformed into voice. I can't even with this version. So Hyang had went ahead and truly made this song her own, and arrange it into more of gospel genre (which this song is actually intending to be a gospel. I meant, the lyrics said it all). Gospel is still a foreign genre to most Asia (especially church style gospel) so I wouldn't be surprised to see the audience wouldn't like her performance as much as the original or the others. But seriously, all of the techniques she uses and utilizes are phenomenal. If you think she's screaming rather than singing, I'm not blaming you for the lack of musical background. Those screams are belts, and belts are extremely hard to do especially with higher register and voice ( So Hyang is definitely a soprano range) without sounding like a banshee, so most of her covers are up an octave or two to accommodate her voice (hence why her belts might sound higher and sound like screams).
Mariah is one of my favorite vocalists, but SoHyang can give Mariah a run for her money. She possesses superb vocal technique, otherwordly vocal stamina and breath control, and her voice is so connected. She's the songbird of the universe. I would love to learn how to sing from SoHyang or her mentor.
Mariah has better musicianship, plus she is more versatile in singing lol, plus Mariah's vocal color is beautiful..while Sohyang can be ugly and nasal at times. i really hate her voice sometimes, what is technique if u don't have beautiful voice color like mariah and whitneh srsly
+taehyung is the father it's a matter of preference , clearly, I prefer SoHyang to every singer out there, you clearly prefer Mariah. I personally think Mariah was only good in her prime years 20/30s and now is prone to lip syncing or singing pretty poorly in her performances with the occasional alright performance, in my opinion, whereas this performance was less than a year ago, and SoHyang is/is nearly, 40 years old and still smashing it out, and she performed something in June or July that was great considering she had a lung infection and great not considering it, so there's why I prefer SoHyang over Mariah any day , and that's not even getting into her vocal ability.
She is definitely my favorite female singer :D I don't easily get goosebumps and I definitely don't cry when people sing, but So Hyang always gets me to tear up!! :O :D
Ranking does not matter when the audiences are lucky enough to witness a performance like this. What Sohyang amazes me is that she always improves, even though she is already over-qualified, not only as a CMM, but also an artist. In addition to her effortless slayage during the Korean part of this song (as always), the idea of integrating a gospel style of delivering this song is just beyond imagination. The English part is just full of pure power, comfort and reprise. Love her so much!
+Mao Blair Original version of this song is a gospel. It was written and sung by Yoon Bok Hee, and she intended to write a gospel song from the beginning. The Korean lyrics seems unrelated to gospel, but there's an interpretation from Bok Hee herself that it is a gospel meani ng hidden in the song and the english part is pretty obvious.
There is no proper word to describe Sohyang's singing. It's beyond perfection.. Sometimes even feel that so many things are not talked about just because of her technical brilliance. She is just too perfect.
No doubt Sohyang is marvelous technically and vocally. But those who focus on her vocal agility and brilliance are missing the most important aspect of her singing, and that is her emotion and ability to reach and touch your heart and soul. When you listen to her and focus on her singing, who cares about her vocal prowess?! Her singing will go from your head to your heart. She just has that ability. What else can I say about her. Sohyang is the best singer in this decade - worldwide. There is no one who can even start to compare with her. Ever since I heard her the first time many years ago she made an unforgettable impression - and she still does.
So Hyang is technically stronger and this is an amazing performance but, for me, there's something in Ailee's version of the song that feels a little warmer and I prefer it over this. My favorite So Hyang is probably Bridge Over Troubled Water.
Ailee kept it very close to the original song since it was a tribute to the original artist who was in the audience. She kept the original lyric intact as well.
Bryan J even I like sohyang version more i agree with the part that Ailee version gives you warmer vibes, because her voice is much ticker and the arrangement tell something like "Ill give you hug friends" while sohyang version is like injection of energy and support and reminder that "IM HERE MATE!!"
Ohmygod, I didnt know that a great singer like her exists. It's the first time that I watched her, perhaps I listened to her before and was unaware that it is her, but wow I am amazed. I was brought here due to the comments on Ailee's version of Everyone, so I watched the original version , and then got interested with this. WOW, she needs to get the recognition and views it deserves like wow. I am in awe.
no idea what the lyrics are about but the tears are just streaming down my face, she sings with such pure passion and power but also refinement...it's a larger than life performance but doesn't feel histrionic at all even when showers of petals fall from the rafters, incredibly dramatic backlighting etc.. this kind of performance just strikes at the soul. glad commenters in a video i happened upon introduced me to this amazing singer

In all other episodes, I agree with you that Sohyang easily surpassed anyone withnher ability to support every note she produced but in the folk song episode I think Sohyang were among the inferior ones as folk song legends were there.. If I remember it right, one legend say that Sohyang had the voice that fits folk song as she can reach very high notes, so should try practicing the craft.. Important thing there is she had the voice for the genre but she doesnt have the technique. I think technique is veryimportant for their folk song as it is very unique compared to others..
So to summarize. haha. In the folk song episode, even though you judge subjectively or objectively, if you keep the theme of that episode in mind, Sohyang only had a slight chance of winning that episode.

사망의 음침한 골짜기로 다닐지라도 해를 두려워하지 않을 것은
이제서야 소향의 노래를 처음 들었습니다. 50 평생 음악을 들으면서 처음으로 느껴보는 전율인것 같습니다. 이십여년전에 조수미씨 콘서트가서 너무 맑고 아름다운 소리에 매료되어서 한동안 다른 음악을 듣지 못했던 기억이 있는데, 이건 전혀 다른 차원의 감동이네요. 이 무대가 신기록을 세우면서 일등을 못했다는게 충격인데요, 한국인들에게 익숙하지 않은 가스펠 장르, 영어가 섞였다는 점, 그리고... 또 한가지 추측해 보는건 이 무대와 음향시설이 소향의 엄청난 가창력을 담아내기에 부족함이 있지 않았나... 추측일뿐입니다. 콘서트갔을때 스피커 소리가 너무 크고 웅웅 거려서 제대로 감상을 못한 경험들이 있거든요... 어쨋든 소향 노래들 하나씩 찾아 봐야겠습니다. 너무 기대가 되네요.

I can't even with this version. So Hyang had went ahead and truly made this song her own, and arrange it into more of gospel genre (which this song is actually intending to be a gospel. I meant, the lyrics said it all). Gospel is still a foreign genre to most Asia (especially church style gospel) so I wouldn't be surprised to see the audience wouldn't like her performance as much as the original or the others. But seriously, all of the techniques she uses and utilizes are phenomenal.
If you think she's screaming rather than singing, I'm not blaming you for the lack of musical background. Those screams are belts, and belts are extremely hard to do especially with higher register and voice ( So Hyang is definitely a soprano range) without sounding like a banshee, so most of her covers are up an octave or two to accommodate her voice (hence why her belts might sound higher and sound like screams).

Mariah is one of my favorite vocalists, but SoHyang can give Mariah a run for her money. She possesses superb vocal technique, otherwordly vocal stamina and breath control, and her voice is so connected. She's the songbird of the universe. I would love to learn how to sing from SoHyang or her mentor.

+taehyung is the father it's a matter of preference , clearly, I prefer SoHyang to every singer out there, you clearly prefer Mariah. I personally think Mariah was only good in her prime years 20/30s and now is prone to lip syncing or singing pretty poorly in her performances with the occasional alright performance, in my opinion, whereas this performance was less than a year ago, and SoHyang is/is nearly, 40 years old and still smashing it out, and she performed something in June or July that was great considering she had a lung infection and great not considering it, so there's why I prefer SoHyang over Mariah any day , and that's not even getting into her vocal ability.

Ranking does not matter when the audiences are lucky enough to witness a performance like this. What Sohyang amazes me is that she always improves, even though she is already over-qualified, not only as a CMM, but also an artist. In addition to her effortless slayage during the Korean part of this song (as always), the idea of integrating a gospel style of delivering this song is just beyond imagination. The English part is just full of pure power, comfort and reprise. Love her so much!

+Mao Blair Original version of this song is a gospel. It was written and sung by Yoon Bok Hee, and she intended to write a gospel song from the beginning. The Korean lyrics seems unrelated to gospel, but there's an interpretation from Bok Hee herself that it is a gospel meani ng hidden in the song and the english part is pretty obvious.

There is no proper word to describe Sohyang's singing. It's beyond perfection.. Sometimes even feel that so many things are not talked about just because of her technical brilliance. She is just too perfect.
No doubt Sohyang is marvelous technically and vocally. But those who focus on her vocal agility and brilliance are missing the most important aspect of her singing, and that is her emotion and ability to reach and touch your heart and soul. When you listen to her and focus on her singing, who cares about her vocal prowess?! Her singing will go from your head to your heart. She just has that ability. What else can I say about her. Love her!!!

I was watching Ailee's beautiful version and then I decided to check this and from the first note I started crying!!! Jesus what emotion!
So Hyang is technically stronger and this is an amazing performance but, for me, there's something in Ailee's version of the song that feels a little warmer and I prefer it over this. My favorite So Hyang is probably Bridge Over Troubled Water.
Ailee kept it very close to the original song since it was a tribute to the original artist who was in the audience. She kept the original lyric intact as well.
Bryan J even I like sohyang version more i agree with the part that Ailee version gives you warmer vibes, because her voice is much ticker and the arrangement tell something like "Ill give you hug friends" while sohyang version is like injection of energy and support and reminder that "IM HERE MATE!!"

Ohmygod, I didnt know that a great singer like her exists. It's the first time that I watched her, perhaps I listened to her before and was unaware that it is her, but wow I am amazed. I was brought here due to the comments on Ailee's version of Everyone, so I watched the original version , and then got interested with this. WOW, she needs to get the recognition and views it deserves like wow. I am in awe.

no idea what the lyrics are about but the tears are just streaming down my face, she sings with such pure passion and power but also refinement...it's a larger than life performance but doesn't feel histrionic at all even when showers of petals fall from the rafters, incredibly dramatic backlighting etc.. this kind of performance just strikes at the soul. glad commenters in a video i happened upon introduced me to this amazing singer
