  • At the end of the Second World War, an SS commander was forced to face his firing squad on the edge of an anti-tank ditch. Paul Maitla was a Knights Cross winner inside of the German Army and he had previously fought for the Red Army as he was Estonian. But after his capture he defected to the Waffen-SS and he was a brave leader in combat, however at the hands of the Czech resistance he met his execution.

Estonia was subject to russification already in the Czar empire. Like the whole Baltic region. Still today Russia sees the region as their own. They hold the exclave of Königsberg/ Kaliningrad. It fits in the idea to reduce the number of people resisting. Especially the German or germanised ethnic groups. On the other side Germany supported the establishing of their nation states from Finland to Prussia. Also you have the same pressure with no Germany involved if you look at Hungary, Romania (Moldova), Afghanistan or Central Asia.

I knew a Latvian man who was in a similar situation. He was an officer in the Latvian Army, then inducted into the Red Army, then captured by the Germans and ended up in the Waffen SS, one of the Latvian divisions. He was awarded the Iron Cross and later captured by the British, thank God. The Latvians, Lithuanians and Estonians were all innocent souls caught up in a bad situation.

Central Europe at the time (including Germany) was a bunch of client states serving the major powers at the time waiting for a USSR invasion. The war was Germany fighting this order and this is the reason why so many people supported Germany and joined the army.

Russian special forces executed Maitla, with his own gun. Soviets just posed as Czechs and Maitla did surrender to them. Then those fake Czechs executed him.
I know, because my great uncle unit did not surrender to those same thugs and pressed on, even fighting if necessary, until they meet US army, and surrender there. He lived happily in Canada, and died in his own house, surrounded by big family in 1998.
On his way through the Czech Republic, he saw all kinds of horrors - sawmills where German female soldiers were cut in half lengthwise or where local Germans were nailed to trees by their genitals. There were pieces of people everywhere. But the only difference with Maitla was that they did not give up their weapons when "Czech officials" demanded it. All German units that did not surrender their weapons reached the Americans.

WWI was started by Russia alone, with no help from others - it was the Russian intelligence agency that assassinated the heir to the throne of Austria-Hungary.
The reason was the desire of the Russian oligarchs to make huge profits from the war, as it happened in 1905 during the Russo-Japanese war.
The initiator of WWII was communist Russia, because Stalin wanted to conquer all of Europe, and for that it was necessary to lure the cretin Hitler into the war. And so a pact was made between Germany and the Soviet Empire that if Germany invades Poland, Russia will help conquer Poland and will also get Finland, the Baltics and most of Poland. Moldova invaded Russia without any agreement in order to gain a strategic position to capture the Ploiesti oil fields. But it was a mistake, because the Germans realized what Stalin was planning and attacked the Soviet empire first. They managed to launch an attack on the Soviet empire 3-4 days before the beginning of the operation "liberation of Europe" ordered by Stalin.

You do not have a slightest clue about the situation at that time in Bohemia , so your silly comment is utterly rubbish - there was an uprising against NAZI Germany from 5 May 1945 in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia (approx 3000 dead) - and some SS units executed civilians (in one particular town over 40 civilians were shot dead at the railway station ) and from that time any SS man caught in the SS uniform was shot dead by Czechs promptly, they did not differentiate - a SS man was the SS man - an Estonian or not an Estonian- the last fight with the SS group was in Bohemia on 11 May 1945 ( 3 days after the unconditional capitulation of the Nazi Germany was signed in Europe) as they were not allowed to cross to US Army which was in Pilsner where the demarcation line was - and as such they were destroyed by Russians. Even if these SS man were handed to Russians they would be shot dead - Etonians especially as they were considered as the traitors by Russians. The good SS man was the dead SS man at that time :). Russians were searching for SS men even in hospitals and if they were found there were taken out and shot dead and rightly so. Pity so many of them escaped to the US army zone ....

They were leaving, not oppressing, and the only reason people got killed in the last 3-4 days of the war was because a bunch of Communist fanatics and self-styled heroes decided it met some political agenda to open pointless hostilities rather than wait for the capitulation which was clearly imminent. The only thing a fair-minded person needs to know in order to conclude that this was a clear act of murder is that it happened after the war was already over.

Given he was 'Estonian,' he would not be regarded as a traitor by anyone but the Soviets who occupied Estonia in 1940. There is a lot missing here. After Stalin's occupation of Estonia in 1940 Estonian military personnel were disarmed and put in brutal Soviet prison camps where many perished. After Germany attacked the Soviet Union in 1941 the survivors were pulled out and told they would fight for the Red Army. No wonder they defected to the German side en masse. The Red Army then pulled the Estonian units out of the line while the Germans recruited these Estonian defectors who were eager to prevent the soviets from reoccupying Estonia. These Soviet Estonian units were then largely reconstituted with Soviet citizens of Estonian descent and Estonians communists who resided in the Soviet Union. These Soviet Estonian units were less Estonian than Soviet from then on. Estonians serving the Germans were all transferred to the Waffen SS as were all foreign volunteers, whether they liked it or not. Even the Western Allies recognized these men weren't really SS and after WWII many were recruited by the Western Allies to work security at their installations and the Nuremberg trials were their former nazi superiors were put on trial. If you think you are seeing US MPs in the photos of this trial you are likely wrong. The Estonian guards wore US MP uniforms and helmets, only the uniforms were dyed blue. Look it up. These men are not regarded as nazis or traitors in Estonia today. Also, you may want to mention that this execution was a Czech war crime, because it was.

Then compare those pictures with stuff like this, and countless other footage of what the soviets and 'allies', led by the Rothschild banking empire did to ALL people. Every picture I saw of germans in russian and ukrainian villages were all smiles, kindness, professionalism and adventure. Soldiers happy, population happy. Can't even make this stuff up. The footage of the soviets, partisans, idiot allies: always destruction. Flattened towns, starving population, unhappy, massive casualties, aloof americans and evil russians delivering massacre on everything. Murdering POW's en masse, raping village women, torturing people for fun. Stories always the same - wounded russians sent to mainland germany, medical treatment, etc. German pow's - murdered, sent to die in gulags etc. Bolsheviks would covertly attack the german units and the eastern villages would take the blame as partisan activity. That was the extent of the 'atrocities' committed by the SS: a rule based approach to persistent partisan issue. The whole 'official' narrative is a SHAM. A great dishonor to history, and the people of Europe.

became the staff of all volunteers units including those who were before part of the Wehrmacht.
Before this date German SS were called SS + grade, foreign volunteers were called SS Freiw(illige) + grade.
As an exemple a swedish volunteer captain of the Wiking division would have been called SS Freiw. Hauptsturmfuhrer.
If race could play a role in the appelation the degree of ideological formation was also important.
As an exemple French volunteer of the SS Brigade Frankreich were SS Freiw + grade ( Just as scandinavian volunteer) .
French SS of the Frankreich went through the whole SS formation including SS ideology.
On the other hand French SS of the Charlemagne division were Waffen +grade der SS.

Léon Degrelle is one of the nine non German decorated Iron class knight with diamond.

He was involved and many others like him!

It doesnt matter that these SS members were fighting the Soviets who were US ,UK' allies although thats bad enough what matters is the SS murdered thousands civilian of Jews and Slavs and the Baltic members were the most enthusiastic about it . Their children and grandchildren are in denial about their horrendous crimes .

Really stupid to say that his longing for Estonian independence showed was a nazi he was. He also would've been killed if he didn't join the red army, the Germans liberated him. I'm disappointed with the nonsense in this video!

Any SS soldier who fell into the hands of Czechs after the SS's crimes in Czechoslovakia was going to be in trouble.
