This is a fantastic idea and very clever execution. I’m going to head out to my shop now and see how I may implement this idea in some way on my Southbend 10k. Thanks for sharing. I’m glad I subscribed and hope you have the energy and time to share more in the future. All the best to you….. 👍😎👍
That is a fabulous solution. I may be making a faux pas in asking, but are your designs available for download? I would very much like to implement this on my 102, and I don't have the skills to draw something like this up in a CAD software. I would happily pay for the plans, too. I'm sorry if this is rude. Great video, by the way.
Nope, sorry, no plans available. I made the mistake in CAD to base the whole design on the exact measurements (including chamfers etc.) of my particular lathe bed, which differs a bit from the Schaublin print in places. So most likely the design only fits this one lathe bed which makes sharing it rather useless sadly, I would have liked to publish it otherwise. I may eventually redraw this in a parametric way so it can be adapted to the measurements of other 102 lathes, but no promises as to when that may happen.
That's completely understandable. Your solution is so sleek and clever that I'm going to try to rip off your design the best i know how (which is quite terrible). Hope you don't mind :)
Man that fits like a glove, excellent job..
That's excellent. First time I've ever wished I had a 3d printer.
So good! I agree with an earlier post that it is worth buying a 3D printer just for this

Nice idea, extra brownie points for using Freecad!
Very nice! Can you share the 3d print files?
Very cool, do you have the files somewhere to download?
That is a fabulous solution.
