I have a similat cros/compound slide with my lathe (lesto scintilla). Retracting the toolpost middle of the t-slides helped, so the tip of the cutter is on the crosslide, so the cutting forces are pushing on the bed rather then tipping the crosslide assembly. Try that for chatter maybe?

I wouldn't worry about a couple of scratches, given it's a tool it will soon get marked!
    It looks good

Hy there , a question regarding your mill, did it come with the iso30 spindle or is that a Upgrade ?

Lovely piece of work! When you were filling the V-groove, did you use a safe-edge of the file, or were you filing with the edge and face of the file?

Until the depth of the groove reached the width of the file I used both variants, from there on safe edge only.

Its nice, but since you are going to be beating on this with a hammer, that level of flatness is unnecessary. It also needed to be about Rc50 for wear resistance. A knurled O.D. is also nice for a positive grip. A larger outside diameter (4 or 5 ins.) would make for more usefulness. Keep up the good work!

Very nice video - but please please tune down that music. Or better even, do away with it altogether.
