Their chops in ‘73 are still a decade away from being marketable. Cheater and Never Satisfied are straight up Black Sabbath/Budgie songs here. Koddos to whoever unearthed this gem.
@@marcstevens8576 he apparently went on to a band called Machine that had no recorded output that I know of, unless it's the band by that name from Netherlands but I don't see his name in any of their album credits
The first song is altkins on the vocals and the others are rob , btw glen joined the band before the record of rocka rolla in few months preist at this point have one guitarist (KK)
Tracks 2-4 are claimed to be from Rob/John's first show. But his first show was July 17th in Bolton. So it's likely mislabelled, perhaps that's where the Flying Hat Band track was recorded
@@LiveMetal The gig was recorded at The Town House, Wellington, Shropshire on Sunday April 22nd 1973. Judas Priest opened for Spirit. Wellington is my home town and I went to the gig. Sorry I can't provide the Priest line up.
Like most metal singers then he wanted sing like Wilson pickett haha . While Rob here sang like he predated by a long time Venom lol . Funny he would re adopt that style increasing from 1979 towards 1984 .
also it says in description : "Not only is this the only available live recording with Atkins, it also features the drumming of Chris "Congo" Campbell!" , meaning that if there was a black guy, most likely for being both congo and cambell tbh, he was most likely a drummer??
This is my favorite pic of Ian Hill of their entire career. So much personality!
Thank you for the great job on this upload, all the hard-core JP fans love to hear the early days stuff.
UNBELIAVABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! More of this ols Priest stuffs.

Rob is growling on Never Satisfied 😎
This is that black drummer on the first song Chris Campbell He was a monster like Cozy Powell
He’s a monster. He’s criminally Underated. The two most cliche UA-cam comments
Whatever became of Chris? Although he didn't last long in Priest, he certainly had enough jazzy-chops to make it with another band. Did he??
Oh so he's the guy on the first track?? Cool and heavy as hell, amazing drummer

You can hear the Hendrix influence💯👍🏼. I read that they started by doing Hendrix covers and other songs in 70/71

Yeah you can easily hear it was kk a big fan of Hendrix and that’s the sound they had at their beginnings
WOW!!!! Just WOW!!
I don't recall if any movies were made about Jesus Christ during the 1970s. If there were, Ian Hill definitely should have gotten the lead part!
They all look like disciples
The original Jesus Christ Superstar was Ian Gillan from Deep Purple, in 1970.
Jesus Christ Superstar starring Ted Neeley as Christ came out in '73.
Do you have mp3s or .wav's of this you could share?

Rob's show can't be May... Al Atkins quit the band in May 1973... Rob debuted in July 1973.
If you can help with correct data for this record, please do!
@@LiveMetal Read the Biographies. It's all laid out in chronological orer.

If gull record s had this in1983 it would be at least gold status by now
Sounds like they were tuned to Eb. Apparently they didn't start in E in their band history like I once thought.
Halford's style was a whole lot grittier, too. A lot of fry.

You had to tune to yourself at the time!
You are so right . We never used tuners . Just get everyone to tune to wherever a Happy string was.
Who was the black guy in the band early on? What did he play?
do u see any blacxk guy in the photo?

The guy I'm remembering had a big afro. I don't remember what he played but it was early days
Very well may have been I'll see if he comes up
@@synergetic4d Chris was the drummer with afro
@@synergetic4d chris " congo" campbell. Drums
Too bad the cover pic is historically incorrect because that's Al Atkins singing.
This is not Rob singing.
This sounds like shit, to be perfectly honest. Rob is obviously still developing his vocal style.
These guys'll never get anywhere lol.
It does sound like shit but that’s because it’s recorded on a rotting potato not because the band aren’t playing well
Rob's first show was on July 17, 1973 and John Hinch's. So tracks 2 to 4 cannot be from Wellington 73 but from Bolton 73
