Kevin faires... that guy is a freak for how relatively small he is. I remember a few years ago, not sure how, but I happened upon his Instagram page where he was training hard, he took the time to chat with me on the messages and at that point he was basically competing at some local events and his lifts were nowhere near where they are now. It's so cool to see how far he's come, from there to here at the top table mixing it with the absolute elite of the sport.
What the hell, I watched the whole thing and it gets to the end, I look at the youtube timer and I realize I've been watching for over 45 minutes ...... subscribed!

How can these athletes not learn from others mistakes right before them... Luke watching his brother fail every log then go on to exactly the same thing... Gavin just had to come out and press the smallest log three times to place well and save strength for the next events
A tad funny to me. The announcers keep saying how the contestant is a huge presser, yet don't do as well as the one they did not claim to have that strength, the MOOOSE! Interesting how the Moose seems to sneak into the space of others.
I think us regular people will never get it how do they press these weighs, I’m impressed damn…200 kg is like normal people deadlift and they pressing it overhead
Yeah for sure it's actually one of my criticisms of the Shaw classic is making all the events super heavy and putting the guys through it at an altitude they are not used to .. it's super tough but also kinda isn't fare on them as they obviously want to push it for themselves and for the show.. I think it can kinda make them look bad when it's not really their fault . That's just my opinion.
@@bruceMooseman, I don’t see how that’s an issue. Other strongman comps force them to deal with blistering cold, harsh heat, rain, snow and poor organisation. Having slightly less oxygen isn’t that big a deal by comparison.

Ok..these comments?! I mean u can have critisms but talk about negative!! Theres so many things to point out.. the main one is that the shaw classic is really still a very new show, so working out issues and is trying to become the next big event and shaw is trying to push the sport (not always going to get everything right, i have my critisms myself) its also very heavy.. as in all the events are heavy so everyone is knackered. Theres nothing wrong with hoopers press.. as long as its locked out and controlled (its strongman not olympic lifting) tom stoltman has autism!! And he has come on a long way with how he approaches events mentally. Goodness just be atleast constructive people!
Imagine hosting a show where multiple athletes pass out in multiple events. In a cool time of year, not in a hot place. In my opinion they should ask the athletes to back their gear down a little… their blood pressures are so high they are literally passing out…
Tell that to mark hunt who sued the ufc for allowing Brock Les at to skip the testing pool rules to fight at ufc 200.. or is the altitude why Jon jones hid from USAF’s under a mma cage? Keep accepting the lies.
IMO, Hooper never does a proper overhead press. What he does is more like a standing incline press. I think the bar or log should always be directly overhead at lockout for the rep to count.

What a atmosphere. Great crowd!
At the Arnold Big Z 4 reps with 451
At the Arnold you can choose 451. If it's no lift. You can still go to the lighter one in the next round.

The stoltmans are not that smart - especially Tom
Agreed. These bozos should only start out with the heavier weights only if they're 100% positive that they can do it.
@@ice-xv1hithe issue is this was the heaviest strongman competition ever lol every press was heavy
Well, Luke should hit 440 fairly easy
You’re expecting intelligence from people whose job it is to lift things up and put them down?
Could it be the weight distribution of this log that is throwing people off? With the smaller middle part and bigger ends.

How about the trapped under a car event?
Seems like he was a bit unfairly harsh on Tom Evans
they refuse to do louis cyrs feats… they never do. back press, or a 1 arm barrel hoist to the shoulder. etc..
I hope the UA-cam coverage is higher quality this year. Cause this looks awesome but poor quality audio and video. No hate
To someone who grew up with downloaded movies recorded from inside the cinema with a camcorder, this looks and sounds just fine tbh 😅
Wrestler Ken Patera could standing press 500, right?
Did they use a pic of Brian Shaw for clickbait?
Max is finished, he can go with Rob K
