You definitely enjoyed it a little more than I did, but I do agree with you. The animation is stunning and I like that they were able to emote the animals more this time around as it’s definitely helped with the story. 🙂
Very interesting about the slightly more cartoony expressions. I saw marketing images of the film with the same idea with a couple of the lion smiling and I gotta be honest with you. It just seems so weird to look at because hyper realistic animals shouldn’t be able to do that. I was never one to complain about the smiling issue. I felt the expressions through the acting and through the singing that’s where it made a difference for me I didn’t need to see weird smiles that animals can’t do so to see it in imagery. Definitely seems weird to me. Maybe it’ll be different while watching the movie. I’m not sure
It’s good to see someone else that also liked the 2019 remake, was beginning to think I was the only one lol (jk I know others do as well). I understand the criticisms of that one but I liked it although the OG is still superior. My thoughts on Mufasa is I thought it was a great prequel story. “I Always Wanted a Brother” was my favorite song in the movie while my wife’s was “Milele”

It also help me appreciate the 2019 remake a little bit more dispite the criticisms. Yet it's funny how many people had high hopes for Mufasa, and it still falls short on people's expectations just like the remake, especially over facial expressions(dispite it being a little better in this movie) I realized that looking rotten tomatoes can be a little redundant, especially the toxicity on the Internet just trashing remakes particularly in this one. I believe in constructive criticism, but not trashing things. The aftermath of the remake is, it was the best decision for it to be a beat4beat remake, it just that facial expressions just needed a little bit more telling. And we have a good prequel. Thanks to Jon Favreau and Berry Jenkins.
The 2019 one I didn’t like it at all. That’s coming from a fan of the original cartoon. I understand why they made this one considering that last one is one of the top grossing films of all time but, I wouldn’t say I’m in a rush to watch it. Least this wasn’t too bad. I see the RT score is pretty much the same as the last one.
Good movie, people clapping in my theatre, don't take any notice of haters. I prefer this universe than Sonic. Not being a videogamer I only cared for Sonic 1. 2 was boring for non gamers

Yeah, I can see how those images might seem weird, but I think you’ll be surprised at how they play out in the movie.
