      Watching this video inspired me to put a little hook outside of my entryway closet to hang my most frequently used coat on so I don't need to open and close the closet every time I go out or come inside.

    I love that Paul Akers has embraced W. Edward Deming's ideas, including the one that so often gets glossed over - LISTENING to your employees and customers. Lean doesn't work unless you involve everyone. Paul Akers, you've taken it to another level by concentrating on the most important part - respect! Love these videos! I hate to think of a manager that takes the wrong lesson and simply concentrates on finding problems.

    I only could understand what Lean really means when I started applying it on my personal life and realized that it is about well-being and health rather than just making more money.

    • @UpFlip

      Amen! it can and should be applied in everything that you do in life.

    I've read the books and thought how this works in a manufacturing business. BUT - how does this work in a service business? We go to your building/home and repair or service your heating & cooling equipment. Each location is different - how do we eliminate variation???

    • @UpFlip
      @UpFlip  3 роки тому

      Look for patterns and processes that you have to repeat over and over, systemize them and start looking for ways to improve every step!

    • @thecrash6633
      @thecrash6633 3 роки тому +1

      Everything from the way you answer the phone, to the way you organize your van, to the inventory system you have, and the way you invoice your customer and receive payment. Every business can be broken down into a series of systems or processes. And constantly be looking for incremental improvements that you can make. They may seem like small things, but systems are what will allow you to scale your business, reduce headaches, and reduce non billable time.

    The spinning table is a no. Have it tilt to each side by a foot pedal. The top can spin or not but the base needs to be stationary.

    • @paul-akers
      @paul-akers 4 роки тому +2

      You have to understand that everything at FastCap is flexible that workstation has to move because other workstations will be set up there the moving and rolling bench is essential. If we didn’t do this our facility would have to be three times as big.

    • @mossyhollow3732
      @mossyhollow3732 4 роки тому

      @@paul-akers You can have wheels on it for mobility when needed but from your explanation it's purpose was to only allow angle packing from each side. Spinning or twisting takes time and can strain especially if the wheels bind on debris or wear down. Tilting is simpler. But I'm going off the explanation as I understood it. You may be able to make it longer to go under the table. I enjoy your knowledge and appreciate you sharing it.
