My G&L ASAT Classic S (Nashville Tele) sounds incredible. Every time I play it I'm amazed how clean and full it sounds. MFD pick ups aren't for everyone but it's worth checking out.
I have a Doheny with jumbo MFD pickups. Bruh that thing sounds killer and has a wide range of tones, especially with the PTB Controls. G&L is so underated
My favourite Tele was built by a friend and sports a T K Smith CAR pickup in the neck position and a traditional (don’t remember the make) bridge pickup. It’s great at Western Swing Rockabilly kind of stuff but I also use it for jazz standards. It pairs with flatwounds really well.😊
Your videos are so well made. I'm still pretty new to guitar even though I have owned a couple for a few years but your videos are so informative and I always learn something new everytime I watch one of your videos. Keep it up man.
2013 American Standard FSR telecaster. Belly cut, channel bound neck with a compound radius 9.5->14", custom shop twister tele and custom shop broadcaster pickups. About 7 lbs. That's the best tele I've ever played.
1992 fender standard tele. A mexican yes, but the first guitar I ever bought with my own money and it has it’s flaws but takes anything you throw at it.
I’ve owned the black dog hair nf53 for about two months. To me, it’s the perfect guitar. It’s versatile but not a Swiss Army knife. It’s beautiful but not flashy. It’s light but solid. Sensitive but quiet. It’s comfortable. It’s durable. It sounds phenomenal. It’s all I’ll ever need.
It sounds like a G&L, which makes sense because of similar pickup designs. I think you picked up on that when you pointed out the ASAT. I played a Myles Kennedy at the store and that thing rips. Totally different from my other Tele's.
I'm hoping with these NF pickups coming to SE we'll start seeing more stuff from SE like the Vela, or the Core "specialty" models with a middle NF pickup, or even Hum-NF-NF style.
The best T-style guitar for my money is the G&L Espada with the MFD split coil pickups. Of course I haven't gotten my hands on an ASAT Z3 yet. I love the Z-Coils in my Comanche partscaster.
I haaaate the pickguard. I have an SE Starla. Highly recommend that you try one of those out. Middle position, coils split, clean channel, will blow your mind.
Symoure Duncan has made the same type Pickups for some years now. I have them on my Fender Telecaster and they really sound Great! The reason I put them on is because I HATE 60 cycle hum with a passion!!! When I started to play guitar I had a Gibson SG Jr. with one Dog Ear P-90 at the bridge and I NEVER got the 60 cycle even at high volumes. Maybe a slight buzz but nothing drastic. Todays Single Coil Pickups a really bad as far as hum. Don't know why but I can't stand it!! I've been a working musician for 60yrs now Touring, Studio and now back to Local at 72yrs old. Maybe i HAVE FORGOTTEN or just can't stand it in my old age! LOL! Love your Channel and Content! Please keep up the Good Work!! Cheers from Salem, Oh.
My best tele was my first tele. My 2021 lefty butterscotch Squier affinity lefty. The neck pickup doesn’t work anymore, and I think I’m going to put in a strat pickup as a replacement.
Same. I’m sure it’s inevitable but they’re probably trying to give the American version some breathing room for sales. Fingers crossed for next year 🤞🏼
WHEN they release the SE. It will sell insane amounts. PRS is doing it right. As long as it doesn’t have a Wide Thin. Already have that neck. Would like a more modern radius
"Is this really a Tele?" I find myself asking the same thing about, say, a thinline semi-hollow with a pair of humbuckers and no ashtray under the bridge, whether it carries a Fender/Squier decal or not. Fender has already diluted the name.
My favorite "Tele" is my Suhr Modern T that even has a (**gasp**) Strat-size single-coil in the front positions... so I know how it is to have people say "That's not really a Tele, man." 🤣
I agree. It may be a fantastic guitar, it might even be a fantastic guitar for me - but a guy or girl who buys a single coil tele is looking for the traditional Tele look and sound.
The NF3 is still something on its own, and it’s a good alternative to both the NF53 and the SilverSky. So I’m glad they have it in their product line. Having said that, I really wish they would release a SE NF53… because Tele aren’t my main guitars, so I don’t see myself spending 2.5-3k for a NF53… but I could spend a grand for a SE NF53 just to complete my (small) guitar collection :)
you can~ alternatively make this a series, not only do you have a JyB Master, that we can try to shuffle towards you in months time(this time a grand to crowd source[palace), but you have other great teles such as the agile nashville 7, and micheal kelly's 7 string... although these are t style body's the jybmaster is atleast trying to keep up with the H/S pickup style... while i do have a t style in the works, im more fond of the master.. 😢
In this video the pickups sounded dull until the very highest frequencies. Which is weird. So we get the click of the pick and the thud of a dull PAF style humbucker. It didn't sound good. My favorite electric guitar sound is clean and then some edge of breakup. I'm not in the market for this or an SE version. So PRS can ignore my opinion.
Please make a video about all in one guitars they are called aio guitars for short but they are really nice guitars for only 500$ made over seas to make them cheaper please consider you won't regret i promise
It sounds like guitar with mini humbuckers, not like single coil or P90. I don't see the point promoting this guitar capable of twang when it already has unique for PRS features - singlecut with a maple neck.
Strat copies seem more common than tele copies to me. I have an American Tele that is now 16 years old. It is perfect in Tele terms. Meaning all of the Tele sounds are completely covered by this guitar. PRS slightly offended me by creating another version of the Mona Lisa. The Silver Sky did not bother me. This was slightly blasphemous. I am sure it’s a fantastic guitar. I am just not feeling it. I am the minority I am sure
Who are these guitars made for? Simple. PRS enthusiast. The ones who, like Fender Guys and Gibson Guys, will not play anything except for PRS. Have you noticed that Gibson has yet to drop a "Silver Sky" style of guitar? >:) Thats because Gibson guys dont play STRATS. Sadly, for me, PRS Dropped the perfect Strat/Tele/Les Paul Hybrid years ago....the Swamp Ash Special. Humbuckers with Coil Splits and a rail pickup in the middle. Tele sounds, Strat Sounds and Les Paul beef.... But hey, Paul has to sell guitars so pump them Strats and Teles out..... In fact, you can say if someone buys a Single Cut 594, a Silver Sky and one of the NF53s....They have the big three.
@@MajeAdams17 um no, its because the way he makes videos he talks calmly and his editing style is also like very minimal and the way he films his videos and its all so calm just like a marques brownlee video so yeah hes like the guitar marques brownlee (to me atleast)
This is most likely the least interesting release by PRS. Looks vaguely telecastereque but it sounds nothing like one. A firebird gets closer to the tele sound than this does and it is a guitar that couldn’t be more different than a telecaster. Finish that off with a high price tag on a guitar that is simply constructed.
I love the set neck PRS guitars - the 594, the custom 24, Paul’s Guitar etc… But the Silver Sky and NF53 just look so deeply wrong to me. You can’t just put a PRS headstock on a Strat and expect it to look right 🤨 and the NF53 is even more of a departure from the Telecaster design. Nope… Just no
The NF2 sounds great almost tele like but not completely there. But a compressor makes it !! I will have to say the bodies the color schemes they use are ugly!!!! When you think PRS you think a beautiful finish. Not here….
I think you get the award for the most analytical guitar UA-camr 🏆
Which is a great award to have!
My G&L ASAT Classic S (Nashville Tele) sounds incredible. Every time I play it I'm amazed how clean and full it sounds. MFD pick ups aren't for everyone but it's worth checking out.
Yeah I tried out an ASAT Deluxe which is G&L’s answer to Fender’s Deluxe FMT Tele at half the price. Those Gagon pickups are seriously underrated!
I have a Doheny with jumbo MFD pickups. Bruh that thing sounds killer and has a wide range of tones, especially with the PTB Controls. G&L is so underated
@hrt93 yes severely under rated. It's like people are blind about G&L. It's literally an upgraded Fender.
G&Ls, especially the early ones when Leo was still around (look for the 3 bolt neck), are about as good of a guitar as you'll ever find.
that's one of the most beautiful guitars i have ever seen. that blue is just perfect
My favourite Tele was built by a friend and sports a T K Smith CAR pickup in the neck position and a traditional (don’t remember the make) bridge pickup. It’s great at Western Swing Rockabilly kind of stuff but I also use it for jazz standards. It pairs with flatwounds really well.😊
Tell PRS to please come out with an SE NF2 Tele-style guitar.
PRS SE NF53
just buy a tele

The Brent Mason signature they made years ago was a truely excellent guitar
Yep, I have one, it’s currently my main guitar… I definitely plan to get a SE NF3 to have an alternative.
I have one too. Great guitar!
2013 American Standard FSR telecaster. Belly cut, channel bound neck with a compound radius 9.5->14", custom shop twister tele and custom shop broadcaster pickups. About 7 lbs. That's the best tele I've ever played.

I have the nf53, its a Tele look and somehow the sound. But it leans more to a les Paul, other prs. I love it.
I dig that little old-school paramore jam
The fact that brand new eyes paramore is old school makes me…. A little emo
I have a Vela with basically that same bridge, and for my money I *think* it's probably the best T-style bridge ever made
It’s so great that so many companies are making tele’s. Great variety to choose from.🎶🎸👍
3:16 hearing Brick by boring brick was so unexpected but HIGHLY appreciated. That's my go to song whenever I demo guitars. ❤

Thanks for another awesome video Mike.
That blue is beautiful
Very good looking and nice sounding guitar, thanks for sharing
It really sounds to me like the G&L ASAT Special. That one has the single coil P90 style pickups, but that's the vibe I'm getting.
It sounds like a G&L, which makes sense because of similar pickup designs. I think you picked up on that when you pointed out the ASAT. I played a Myles Kennedy at the store and that thing rips. Totally different from my other Tele's.

Only the body shape is “Cali-tele” in this prs. Tone and vibe is unique to the Maryland factory.
I think the scale is 25.5 still
@@EliasThury you are correct. Thanks I edited my post accordingly

I'm patiently waiting for the SE version of this.

Thanks for the analysis!
my favorite "tele" is my custom built from JL Customs near pittsburgh pa. its so freakin good but i really wanna try the nf53
WHEN they release the SE. It will sell insane amounts. PRS is doing it right. As long as it doesn’t have a Wide Thin. Already have that neck. Would like a more modern radius
Hugely informative, great video.
It would be great to compare this to the Fender American Ultra Telecaster I have
I wouldn't swap for my 2018 Fender Baja Telecaster shell pink special edition even if was only guitar for guitar .
"Is this really a Tele?" I find myself asking the same thing about, say, a thinline semi-hollow with a pair of humbuckers and no ashtray under the bridge, whether it carries a Fender/Squier decal or not. Fender has already diluted the name.
I still ended up buying my first tele a fender although the PRS is an amazing guitar.

the wide angle lens looks so crazy when you’re that close to camera
Tokai “Breezy sound”
I’m a lefty. I got a Harley Benton with Gretsch type pick ups, but they’re not wide as regular humpback man are they throaty
if you dont spend $10k on your guitar are you even a real player
I got way too hyped up when you played some old Paramore. I guess it wasn't a phase after all lol
Cleaannn Brick by Boring Brick cover there in between! appreciated hearing that haha
Three (maybe technically four because one is abbreviated) words: Myles Kennedy SE
I'm curious enough to try one.
This ain't no Tele
Relatable

No, but it’s better.

Try a reverend buckshot. My favorite t style guitar all of the changes are improvements imho
These guitaris who speak more gears than music 😏
My Nashville is so good. Best tele I've played.
Is your shirt on backwards?
Soccer Mommy mentioned!!
Lovely guitar quiet, expensive sounding with absolutely no character whatsoever
I would have loved a NF53 SE instead of the NF3 we got a few months ago, I love modernized Tele bodies

I dont think there's any differencce that u cant change with eq on an amp and as soon as u put an overdrive on it is the pickup erelevant.
PRS EG was one of the best guitars ive ever owned, i miss her. She was the silver sky before the silver sky was even thought of.
She was an original PRS Strat whereas the Silver Sky is a knockoff Fender
The SE version is what I can afford , I would probably trade away my Swamp Ash SE for a hard tail version of SE tele, if and when it may come out.
I didn’t plug one in admittedly, but they feel like a $300 guitar.
Mike, check out the Schecter PT series of T type guitars. Exceptional guitars and also have a sound and vibe of their own 🤘🔥

Best Tele I ever played is a Hohner.
Chapman ML3. Best tele style guitar
Squier Paranormal Series Cabronita Thinline Telecaster. Best playing Tele I've ever owned.

Paul apparently suffered a head injury.
I think I might see a DGT 15 in the background…
I like em.
My best tele is a Schecter PT
I dunno what is it about PRS and me not liking their pickups
Just because it's shaped like one doesn't mean it is one.
try out zager acoustic guitars, they are the best

Holy cow thats expensive
PRS NF tele has a scarf neck joint….that is usually seen with cheap guitars……why is PRS using scarfs? For that price?
It sounds like guitar with mini humbuckers, not like single coil or P90. I don't see the point promoting this guitar capable of twang when it already has unique for PRS features - singlecut with a maple neck.
6:40 Hmm… I know you know it, but my OCD kicks in, there’s no middle pickup, what you mean is “middle position” 😂😉
Like middle position meaning blend of both pickups like the imbetween position
Wish they where stainless steel frets
Didn't sound remotely twangy. Sounded muffled and muddy. Zero spank.
Paramore!
It sounds too dark for a Tele imo. You don't even need to roll down the tone knob because you actually wish it could roll up.
I got a squire tele and I love it lol
I have a fender but my sawtooth tele is the best I have ever played.
Best Tele goes to Julian Lage.
If you ask Tom Bukovac, the best Tele belongs to Dan Auerbach.
tbh I don't like the look of it
It looks like a Telecaster drawn from memory
It almost lacks everything that makes a Telecaster a Telecaster.
Compare it to a G&L ASAT
When is ford going to start making Camaros
