How to Make Money from Arbitrage Betting, then take it to a whole new level!

  • I'm going to share with you how I made money from arbitrage betting but took it to a whole new level. I'm not just talking about making a bit of extra cash on the side, but something that made me quit my full-time job and more or less bet for a living.
    Arbitrage betting can be a great way to make some extra money, and in this video, I'll show you how I approached it.
    I started off going to bookmakers and placing bets there. But the pickings were pretty slim.
    When Betting Exchanges were born this exploded the opportunities available to arbitrage. You could back with a bookmaker or sportsbooks and hedge your arbitrage bet on an exchange.
    You can still do this sort of thing with a lot of sportsbooks, like Bet365. But you will probably be quickly limited as a 'sharp' customer.
    However, realising the limitations of traditional arbitrage betting, I quickly moved on to another form of betting, which allowed me to scale up my stakes and profits dramatically.
    This video is the story of how that happened and what I did!

      The exchanges markets move so quickly that bookmakers are nearly always playing catch up with them. So I just watch my Bet Angel screen and pounce when the market gets out of kilter.

    Hi, as a full time trader on the exchange do you have to have a business bank account to do this? or is your bank ok with large withdrawals from betfair going into a standard bank account / betfair exchange being main source of income into bank?

      Never had a problem with any bank on this front.
      Typically, you have problems the other way around, i.e. depositing money to a betting company. But that would only be an issue if it was excessive.
      I imagine the whole thing becomes less of an issue over time.

    Really enjoy all of your content Peter. So many pearls of wisdom, especially the one about working ‘bottom up’ on number of markets rather than ‘top down’ on daily profit target.
    What are your thoughts on the following formula:
    £20k bank, Average of 15 events per day. Is £800 profit per day quite doable? Where on the risk scale of 1-10 would this daily profit fall if it is indeed entirely possible? What type of strategy might be most likely to work given those numbers?
    If that formula looks unlikely, which of those numbers would you suggest I adjust to make it more likely to succeed? Bank size, number of markets or daily profit estimate?
    Thanks for your steer.

    • @betangeltv
      @betangeltv  2 роки тому +3

      Thank you for your comments.
      You will never need a bank of £20k. I work with a much smaller bank like that and generate significant returns.
      I wouldn't set a daily profit target at all. Opportunities vary from day to day and all sports show weekly variations and a lot of seasonality. So I go for it when conditions are right and play defensively when there is a lack of opportunities.
      If you try to make £800 each day you would be up there with people with vast levels of experience. So I think that's unrealistic.
      If you have never traded before, you need to get a good grounding before attempting to push toward profitability. So, while it's good to be ambitious, you should be realistic to start with.

      @@betangeltv Thanks Peter. That’s a very helpful steer and I’m very grateful to you for responding to my questions.
      I suppose I’m just trying to do the maths and see if there is some kind of rough formula / equation that can apply in terms of bank size, number of markets, level of risk and daily profitability (averaged out over course of year to account for losing periods and seasonality)?
      Taking your advice on bottom up, if I, on average, target 15 ‘suitable’ markets / events per day and trade out a profit or loss of £100 per event, then a 80% strike rate would deliver a £900 net daily profit (win on 12 events and lose on 3). Is that right?
      Given the above, is my objective here to find a strategy that works for me and that delivers an 80% strike rate? And if £100 profit/loss per event is my aim, then what bank size is appropriate for making that realistic from a risk perspective?
      Would £100 profit/loss per event really put me up against the big traders?
      Just trying to use maths to guide me here. Thanks for all your help.

    • @betangeltv
      @betangeltv  2 роки тому +1

      All the maths and projections are irrelevant until you start trading. So I suggest that is where you start.
      While I make it look easy, most people lose money when they start as there are many hurdles to overcome.
      So I suggest, rather than make projections on how much you could make. Maybe start the process of trading first and build from there.

    • @keithplummer8214
      @keithplummer8214 2 роки тому +1

      @@betangeltv Thanks Peter. I completely get your point about starting first and then building from there. After all, that’s where I’ll do all my learning (and make my mistakes!).
      But I was just intrigued with your bottom up approach by targeting a suitable number of markets rather than a daily profit, which I think makes complete sense (and which is what I’m trying to do here).
      And I need some sort of maths even in the early stages in order to understand appropriate bank size relative to stake size and target trade out points. Hence my questions on this topic.
      I’m also mindful of it being a worthwhile use of my time (appreciating it is a long term game). I’d sooner start with, say, a £10k bank (that I’m comfortable losing) and be seriously disciplined about trading out at a £100 profit or loss per event than start with an unrealistically small bank that will likely lead to blow out.
      Which of these numbers would you suggest I change, if any, in terms of a platform for success? It’s just helpful for me to know whether I’m ball park or way off. And please be honest!
      Bank £10k
      Average daily events 15
      Profit / loss trade out point £100
      Strike rate 80%
      Is the main purpose of the bank really to just withstand a losing run, if required?
      Is 80% strike rate realistic?
      Is there an appropriate initial position size relative to bank size figure to stick to? Or perhaps a position size to trade out figure ratio you’d recommend?
      I’m just trying to benefit from your knowledge and experience to approach the bottom up method in the best way. And you can probably tell that I do like to apply a mathematical method to it all.
      Thanks Peter.

      Also, when trading, your balance becomes available to you after every trade. So there is no need to carry a big balance.
      I need very little in my account to trade. If I had £1k and trade 40 events in a day that's £40k in turnover. If I do three trades on each market that's £120k in turnover.

      I will make a lot of money doing this strategy over the next few months and I could do it from pretty much any location on the planet. No need to be at a racecourse.
      I've also explained in other videos all the aspects of why trading is about taking risks when the outcome is uncertain and why that helps if you can overcome the fear of doing that.
      I really have tried my best, but I realise that if people don't want to try or come to terms with things, there is nothing I can do to make them.
