Babylon has always exploited the talents of music for profit. The fact that brother Horsemouth hasn't made any money from film Rockers is a true testament to the hypocrisy of the film industry and everyone who is still banking from this film up to this day. Give this man the millions he deserves not just for his incredible performance not just for his culture impact of being a universal reggae icon of royalty always standing firm for H.I.M. and the truth of what is to become in the building of Zion but for his artistic expression of Jah Love for all. Jah bless you brother HorseMouth.
Rockers was a huge hit in the UK when it was released. It followed on from the hugely popular The Harder We Come. Although both were films that highlighted the injustice and oppression of the poor in Jamaica, the same message applies to all poor and oppressed people around the world. The message is the same as it's always been, but too many people are not interested and prefer to fight eachother instead of bring about more unity. The personality and creative ability of artists like Jimmy Cliff and Leroy "Horsemouth" Wallace were key in making those films so popular. Seeing all the other local extras and big reggae stars at the time were all featured in the film Rockers, which for me makes it my favourite of the two. Who can forget the roles played by Jacob Miller, Dirty Harry, Leroy Smart, Burning Spear, Gregory Isaacs, Dr. Alimantado, Dillinger and Big Youth to name just a few of them.
@@irielion3748 stepping razor song, that's Peter Tosh. But come to think of it, he wasn't in the film, his song was though :-). Thanks for the correction. I'll update my original post.
After I graduated high school, I had a few months until it was time to get shipped off (Navy). For roughly three months, I watched at least 15 mins of this movie every day, just to prepare me fi di trod. Still have the VHS, much less DVD. Eternal Love, Respect, Honor, Loyalty, etc.
Truth Jah is in control of everything and yet those guys currently still receiving residual payments for this film being circulated around the world on differing platforms can easily keep brother HM down a few milli no?
@Jacob Vidjeskog Countryman is even more offensive than Cool Runnings. The underpinnings of both movies were good, but they put in these infantile lovable idiots that is supposed to validate the worst stereotype.
I have seen this film like 200 times !!! Given it too many people over the decades as well. I had VHS in 84' ,DVD's . Blu ray as soon as transferred .Torrents as backups . DVD roms, portable HDD's Flash drives, etc. I make sure this is passed to future youth . Suscribed liked.
Well done horsemouth , a true icon ! Sad to see that even after slavery we are still allowing the wicked to oppress and extract our resources. Our music , spirit and our livity are so priceless. Let’s fight to ensure that we retain our valuables . Blessed Love 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🙏👍

Great movie! I think about the scene when he goes to burning spear for help on almost a daily basis. I need a friend like that. Also, the disco scene cracks me up every time.
Rockers is one of my favorite movies and Horsemouth is one of my favorite drummers of all time. He still sounds just like he did 50 years or so ago when he speaks, honorable and truthful. Rasta don't crack and he deserves much more than everything that has been withheld from him✌🏼
