It is so disappointing to see the memory of a huge artist be trashed like that. Renee has no singing talent! She speaks in a soft fake voice which Judy never had! All the music and interviews are available online now and anyone with a hearing voice can find out how the injustice that has been done with this cast. My mom, who passed when I was a teenager, used to sing this song to me every night before bed. Listening to Renee sing it in that smoky voice brings sentimental tears in my eyes. Absolutely beautifully done

Agree with you Laura. When my mum passed on in October 1990, we (my husband and myself) had our own selection of songs played at the funeral. We chose Over The Rainbow when she "departed" for the last time as it was her favourite song. It was very poignant. I also recorded the full version which is on my YT channel.

Even though I wasn't born until two years after Judy died, I will always remember that date (June 22), because that was when my youngest nephew came into the world, fifty years to the day Judy left it. He's been here before, I can tell. When he opened his eyes, he was just so calm. He hasn't heard any Judy Garland songs yet, but hopefully he'd love "Over The Rainbow."

The last scene of the movie “Judy”, where Zellweger sings “Over the Rainbow” as Garland on stage, is so moving and heartbreaking. This very imperfect woman was the perfect entertainer and unconditionally loved by her fans. I’m not sure if their was/is anyone else who had that relationship with their audience like her.

Yeah, I love Joaquin, but most of us want to hear about the actual role they won it for. Sure, celebrities are people too, and obviously they have opinions, but the awards stage is not the place for it.
Well I am 81 years old and saw some of the originals and Renee Zellweger is right up there with the best. You would not want to hear some of the old recordings because they just don't capture the person. This does. So it is great, and stands on its own.

The movie reminded me of my mom. She is a very troubled person who made so many mistakes and we had so many very hard years. The song kinda makes me think how she imagined her life when she was young and how it turned out...that it was just one hardship after another and the good years were few really and now a distant thing of the past. But I still love her and we will pull through, because it's my mom.
This is what this movie and this song mean for me.

The story goes there were 2 names picked for me when a baby. Ginger, for Ginger Rogers, and Judy, for Judy Garland. My dad insisted on Judy and that's what I was named. I've never regretted his decision. It's been a life long honor to be named after such a great entertainer and such a brave and glorious lady.
