I was there and it was my introduction to Aphex Twin, and honestly, I don't think I'm ever gonna experience something like that ever again... That was insane, so crazy and overstimulating in all the best ways. Aphex Twin was really hyped up into oblivion to me by my friends and my dad, and my expectations were truly blown away!!! Just... Wow

There are also live DJ’s who make most of the beats live then there are producer DJ’s who only use their own music, but I like this type of set the most.

This was back when he would play all originals, have performance elements on stage (Teddy Bears with his face on them), a guy getting his head shaved, etc. The club was pretty small (could fit 200?), it was absolutely the best concert I ever attended.

yeah and how coincidentally it starts when an average person would begin peaking during a LSD trip (assuming they drop at the very start of the show)... I cant even imagine what its like leaving an ex[ereience like this, especially on a decently high dose. Prob wouldnt be able to see the ground in front of you.. lol

I saw him around Y2K in Osaka Japan and it was just him on stage with some kind of weird controller device. It was an incredible set of funky and brutal electronica. This looks so immersive and professional. I would love to experience it but I doubt he will be anywhere near Florida.

He actually REALLY got some killer soundscapes and rythm scenarios ... my lazyness , prevented me from getting Any real grip of his synth patching skill's and this has, im happy to say , been rectified - om going to see if i can do some of his techniques on my own Eurorack , and with my own synths 🤔👍

Glad someone mentioned this--maybe the Dutch are spoiled or something but when he came to Texas in 2016 at the Day for Night fest, all eyes were on Rich. No casual chats like a summer picnic.

Richard D. James aka Aphex Twin is amazing. In 2001 I saw him playing on Free Jazz Festival here in Sao Paulo - Brazil. Hes playing behind curtains for 50 Minutes. The Last 10 minutes hes open the curtains and play the last two songs! When I saw hes playing now behind this barracade I know is there! Start playing Mr Oizo mixed with his music.... Well I was ordering a sushi roll just when he was getting started, so when I made it into the tent the place was bursting from the sides, even though it was the biggest festival tent I'd ever seen (almost like an airplane hangar). I had no choice but to go in way in the back but the sound still was good to me. Obviously a little delayed since the place was huge, but I enjoyed every sound reaching my. ears. But yeah, this time around I'm going to make sure to have eaten something in advance and queue the front row a good 15 minutes before he starts. He'll probably be doing some sound checking beforehand, at Best kept he was on stage a good 30 minutes before the start of his set. You're in for a blast my friend!

@@MikkelGrumBovin Its ok. Aphex one of the finest electronic musicians of all time. On par with Wendy Carlos and Isao Tomita via modern glitch and fx. Given, hes been producing since the 80s.
@@positronikiss Ive been taking his stuff for a spin , and i must confess , i was wrong , and completely misinformed by my dislike of the stageshenanigans .... He actually REALLY got some killer soundscapes and rythm scenarios ... my lazyness , prevented me from getting Any real grip of his synth patching skill's and this has, im happy to say , been rectified - om going to see if i can do some of his techniques on my own Eurorack , and with my own synths 🤔👍
i used to hear Aphex back in 1991 ....dang ... he was the first ...of the first with massive attack doing rare weirdo songs ...unbelievable
I saw Aphex Twin early 90's, PA at Knowledge, SW1 Club. All I can say is I'm kinda glad this didn't exist back then. It would have mangled too many minds. WTAF. Brilliant.

Richard D. James aka Aphex Twin is amazing. In 2001 I saw him playing on Free Jazz Festival here in Sao Paulo - Brazil. Hes playing behind curtains for 50 Minutes. The Last 10 minutes hes open the curtains and play the last two songs! When I saw hes playing now behind this barracade I know is there! Start playing Mr Oizo mixed with his music.... For more musicians like that. ❤ Thx Wolf for that

I never really got the Hype about Aphex - but i seriously dig Square Pusher , KoxBox , Ozric tentacles `n so on, ....but its all like taste - some have it .... nah , jazz joking - Music is the best ! 😉👍

@@stevoofd along with delphium aswell man jesus i think I'd go into cardiac arrest once spiral staircase started playing, 3 of his back to back to back. I'm praying he does lisbon acid and he lets that drum switch in the middle play, one of my favs from him and its not uncommon for him to play it live.
@@yungkidlines On Field Day? I'm going to his Dour show as well. Field day will be my second time (since the first one was mental). I've seen him 4 times now, with dour and field day I'll have seen him 6 times, 3 of which will have been in 3 consecutive months, that's an aphex hattrick right there.
@Iambent how was the field day one? I've heard complaints about the sound system being too quiet but I'm definitely going right to the front. I'm a huge rdj fan but it's gonna be my first show of his so I'm super excited

Well I was ordering a sushi roll just when he was getting started, so when I made it into the tent the place was bursting from the sides, even though it was the biggest festival tent I'd ever seen (almost like an airplane hangar). I had no choice but to go in way in the back but the sound still was good to me. Obviously a little delayed since the place was huge, but I enjoyed every sound reaching my. ears. But yeah, this time around I'm going to make sure to have eaten something in advance and queue the front row a good 15 minutes before he starts. He'll probably be doing some sound checking beforehand, at Best kept he was on stage a good 30 minutes before the start of his set. You're in for a blast my friend!

Makes a change from the first time (of 4) I saw him play live. He just layed on the front of the stage, one hand propping up his head, the other fiddling with mixer. All night. With the dancing teddies behind him. The Q Club, B’ham, ‘95. All he has ever done in his life is improve. This gig, and the ones before it, prove that.
That cube is representing Saturn. Aka the demiurge in an androgynous form. Creating a matrix of entropy and chaos. Black box refers to occult ideas of Saturn.
That was simply outstanding. Breathtaking in parts.

First time watching a full Aphex Twin live show and I am astonished at how unreal it is. Aphex Twin once again proving that he is undoutebly one of the best EDM prodcers in history.
