I finally subscribed because I've watched at least 4 other tutorials, and you never disappoint. Good close up camera focus; slow enough crocheting on your part so the viewer can follow; good contrast between your hands, the yarn and the background, as well as even narration without background noise like music, so I don't have to strain to hear you. I know what I like. Good on you!
8 years later and your video is still the most simple and easy to follow!!! THANK YOU! The last vid almost left me in tears and sooooo confused! Yours was easy to follow , clear and at a pace i could actually learn at!
Love that you explain, without confusion, how to do this stitch. I was bored with the others I watched because they were too slow. I have been crocheting 47 years and still consider myself a beginner or intermediate beginner. I am just now starting to be brave enough to try something new. I will continue following your tutorials. Thank you for an awesome stitch.
I finally found your video by Google search to learn this method. After seeing it used to make a gorgeous shoulder bag, I purchased enough yarn to make five bags, one for each of our girls for Christmas. We have one daughter and four in-law who are all very busy mothers. They will find these large, stretchy, and durable bags to be very practical yet heirloom worthy! THANK YOU!!!
I have absolutely zero patience when it comes to learning complicated crochet stitches like this crocodile stitch!! But you have done an amazing job in this video demonstrating and explaining this crocodile stitch! I totally got it without making mistakes!!!! God bless your beautiful talented hands!! Many thanks!!
this video pace is the perfect pace for the ones that have some crochet experience and i appreciate the simplicity of such a complicated stitch.....THANK YOU, for sharing
You make this look super easy! I have a project I promised for a baby shower that uses this stitch and now I feel more comfortable beginning. Thank you so much!
The group of crochet students currently in my class aren't willing to become computer savvy enough to use the videos.... so far. We're slated to learn the crocodile stitch this next week, and your video will be center stage. Thank you for the clear, concise presentation you've put together!!
Wonderful video tutorial, thank you! For those who are complaining, if you don't care for her style of crocheting, there are tons of other crocodile stitch tutorials to watch. Everyone misses the yarn when yarning over sometimes. This is a complicated INTERMEDIATE stitch, if you don't have enough experience to follow this very simple tutorial that is not her fault. Be a force of positivity in this world instead of criticizing and nit-picking.
When learning a new stitch, I usually have to go through several videos (in this case about 4) before I find one that makes sense to me. Yours happened to be the one. Thanks a lot for this video. There were a few errors, places where you said one thing and did another, but thankfully I know enough about crochet (which is very little, trust me!) to realize you did something different than said. And then I went to your website's picture tutorial/pattern to confirm my suspicions. It's ok, it happens. I'm so glad for the backup photo tut. While you were going a bit fast, it's ok, because that is the glory of pause and clicking back on the video. I really appreciate this! Thanks so much!
This is my go to stitch as it is my very favorite! I haven't crocheted since January and I decided to give myself a refresher with this video and I have to say I never even thought to create that pointed scale! I almost didn't finish the video because I had already seen what I wanted to see and then I heard you say that you were going to create that pointed stitch and I am so glad I watched.
I just want to applaud you on this crocodile stitch. I have tried it before and got a couple rows and could not go any farther. I however, took a break from trying then came across your video. It was very clear to me why you did different stitch I finally got this stitch down. I'm not a beginner, but for some reason before I just couldn't get it. Thank you! So very much.
I just wanted to say thank you. Your video tutorials have helped me step up my crochet game so much. I'm doing things that a year ago I wouldn't have even dreamed of.
I have always wanted to learn this stitch but I could never understand it when I followed other video tutorials or written instructions. Thanks to your video, I now get it!!! I was making one of those owl cup cozies and this video was perfect for setting up the 3 feather, 4 feather, 3 feather rows. I loved the variation with the pointed tip idea. It worked well when creating different shaped feathers. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Thank you! I was having such a hard time following the pattern elsewhere. My 3 year old wants to be a fairy princess for Halloween so I'm making her a wood fairy outfit, including a cape with this at the top. It's working out perfectly thanks to this video!
Thank you so much Tamara! Your tutorial is better than others and I am grateful! I've made slippers with this stitch for a friend but that was a few years ago and I needed a refresher on how to end rows to grow them or reduce them in length-you're the best!
You make this stitch look so easy. I've looked at so many others instructions and techniques. So far, that I've watched, yours is the best and understandable. Thank You !!!
Thank you for slowing down at the important parts of the stitch! You are the first person who has done that in a video and it's super helpful! I'm losing my hearing and closed captioning doesn't always work right. So I have to see what people are doing and most of them have dark yarn and crochet to fast during the important parts of the stitch.
Thank you so much Tamara for teaching me how to do this stitch. I am making a crochet wreath that has a Christmas tree on it and the tree uses the crocodile stitch. It's really fun to learn a new stitch not to mention knowing that I am an "advanced" crocheter. My grandma would be so pleased as she taught me how to single crochet when I was a little girl.
Tamara, thank you so much for your tutorial on the crocodile stitch. I have tried so many different ways to do this stitch and either had a hard time doing it or could never get my stitches to match up. I injured my left wrist severly when I was 13, I am now 63 and to be honest I have never had a more easier crochet pattern to follow than yours. I did havee to tweek it just slightly but my hand doesn't bother me like it did with all the other crochet patterns . Thanks again and Blessed Be. Mike
Thanks so much for your very easy version of the crocodile stitch, plus I really appreciate your tips, such as how to elongate the scale, or how to keep the sides straight so they don't grow wider! I always look for your videos for these reasons. Thanks again!
I love how real you are. lol all the other tutorials are expecting me to find those imaginary stitches to start the row and I was so confused, but you're just like "yeah, they're not actually there, but we're gonna pretend that they are." lol thanks. great tutorial.
I love how easy this was to follow. Took me a little while to get the hang of it, but now I think I am going to make a blanket out of this!! Thank you so much for inspiring me to learn more and making it easy to do so!! Keep up the amazing videos!
Like everyone else, I think your tutorial is the best. Maybe I'm just a much better stitcher than I was when I tried before. All I know is I have it now, thanks to you. Those little booties made with the variegated yarn has cast a spell on me. Now I can make them.
I'm thrilled that you added in how to make the scales slightly different shapes. I'd worked it out for myself but it's something I struggled with a lot to start out with. Thank you very much for the tutorial :) xx
Excellent teaching video! especially when i can slow it down until i got the hang of it. New stitch for me and you made it so easy to learn. thank you so much!
I have done this stitch many times but not for a year so needed a refresher. You did an excellent job. Very well demonstrated and very easy to understand. Great job. Now I need to find that darn boot topper pattern. lol
Thank you so much for posting this! I know everyone may find different tutorials to work for them but after trying 13 different ones... this is it! You have no idea how frustrated I was. Now I just need to practice a bit before attaching this to my project.
Awesome tutorial Tamara, thank you for sharing your talents with us. I have been hearing all about this crocodile stitch. Your tutorial was easy to follow and understand, I can not wait to try it and see what I can come up with... I look forward to following you to learn more.
Thank you so much for this video. Im terrible at learning from written patters when it gets a bit more 'complicated"., so this video was spot on for what I needed :)
I’m now waiting on a crochet loom in the mail it’ll be my first attempt at this craft watching this video has totally baffled me haha I’d like to make some fingerless gloves with a croc wristband but I get the feeling I’m going to have to wait a while till I get onto it properly I’ll definitely save this video though thanks for sharing 💐💕
Thanks for the tutorial, I turn to your you-tube page frequently for videos though this time I had to pause it many times to keep up as you went so fast. Hopefully someday I'm that quick too, it's my goal anyway. My only complaint is that every so often you'd use one term but you'd actually crochet another (you used the term slip stitch at the end of the first row of scales and then said single crochet and actually did a slip stitch. Then you said single crochet but did one double crochet in the center of the scale. I was watching so I caught what you did and just ignored the slip of the tongue but thought you might want to know, it did confuse me for a bit). Honestly, this is the first tutorial of your's I've had a hard time following, I do love your blog and your you tube channel. Thanks for all the help you've given me, I am enjoying learning all the different stitches.
Love the tutorial :) Thank You so much. I have success !!! For the people saying too fast, I just pause and replay OR you can click the gear and slow the speed down on the video and turn the sound off. Wowzers
Your tutorial would have made such a difference when I crocheted a fish-shaped potholder from a written pattern without detailed description. This is very helpful!
this tutorial was very helpful for my mom, since I cant crochet myself :P Im wanting my mom to crochet me some crocodile scaled boots in rainbow colours ! :) So thank you Tamara
This is really helpful! I'll try and make a shawl for my aunt for her birthday! Tho it's only my fourth attempt on crocheting, but somehow I believe it's gonna happen, we'll see!

Thank you for explaining where I could understand. Thank you for sharing
thank you ! It's the slip stitch between the scales that the other video I was watching was missing that I was having trouble with !
Thanks. 2021 and it’s the first time for me attempting this stitch. It was a very good explanation.
oh my god. THANK YOU! I purchased a pattern (that included a video tutorial for this stitch) and I was completely lost! You've been a huge help!
