  • The crochet crocodile stitch is one of the most unique stitches you'll ever make. Four rows come together to make 3D scales that are layered. It's not reversible so it's best paired with projects where only one side will show.

The easiest tutorial I have found for this stitch. I have tried other tutorials in the past and got in such a muddle I didn't want to try again. However this was easy to follow and understand and went at the right pace :)

Agree with other’s comments - your video is the easiest crocodile stitch directions ever. I love this stitch but could never “get it” so gave up ever trying to use it for a project. I have some large quantities of several yarn colors that I want to use up and now I have found the perfect pattern stitch for that. Thank you for posting this tutorial !!

I like how you crochet slowly and then show what it’s supposed to look like at the end of each segment. That has helped me SIGNIFICANTLY.
Keep putting out your videos. You’re an excellent teacher. Watched and tried to follow along wit 5 videos of this stitch before I found you and GOT it. 😅🎉😂❤❤❤

@B.hooked Crochet, I cannot thank you enough for your tutorial! I've watched countless vids but yours is the BEST. Other videos move thru the stitches too quickly and don't begin by positioning their work, which makes it difficult for me to orientate my work as I stitch along with the tutorial.
    1. I love how clear and concise you make each step-
    2. thanks for breaking down the 2 basic rows: foundation and scaled (finally! I get it!) :)
    3. I really like that you describe (and illustrate) how to position the work
    4. I adore how you move through the method in stepwise fashion methodically, showing us how the work should look as we go thru the rows-
    5. It's nice that you don't stop to chatter away just when I think you're about to begin! When other crafters stall or break the rhythm with side talk, it completely throws off my rhythm and makes it more difficult to visualize the process (the step or as a whole). It helps whn you narrate as you make the 5 dc's through the posts, then ch1 (you say it simply: "chain 1"), and then position to make the scale on the next post in one fell swoop!
    6. The helpful hints about blocking are fantastic (and totally necessary)! I thought, "my work looks so sloppy, I'll never get this right!" But, my 1st attempt looks amazing after blocking it! (I never realized what a difference blocking makes!
Thanks, thanks and thank you, again!

I finally learned how to make the crocodile stitch a number of years ago and today I wanted to learn how to make a vertical crocodile scarf, I tried so many other tutorials and I was totally lost and I knew how to make the stitch. I finally stumbled upon you, your method is so simple I could hardly believe it. Keep up the great method on how to teach because if no one can get this method then the crocodile stitch isn’t for them.

I noticed towards the one end that it is cleaner if instead of chaining three after 5dc, you do 4dc then chain3 and slipstich into the center space of the scale. Then chain 3 then DC and continue the pattern as instricted.
