I miss Dave Thomas. Wendy's had the best food, during his regime. I literally survived my High School year's due thanks too the Big Bacon Classic, The Chicken Cordon-Blue w/lettuce & tomatoes & the SuperBar, of course. Nothing beat spaghetti topped with meat sauce & nacho cheese sauce, with tortillas chips & a salad.
I was also born in 1986 and I can also remember some of these old commercials that were playing when I was only 2 or 3, the only explanation I can think of is back then people recorded things from TV onto VHS, so perhaps when you were 4 or 5 you watched a movie that your parents recorded from TV that had commercials on it from when you were younger.
Here's why: buffets (whether they're nasty or not) builds their entire business model around buffets. Wendy's didn't, and due to health concerns, they have to throw things out at least every day. Alfredo sauce that doesn't go eaten every day, wilted greens and fruits--all of those add up. If it makes you feel any better, though, there are KFCs out there with buffets even today.
I remember this commercial being longer. I believe it included "high" bars and "low" bars and "wet" bars and "crow" bars.. I could be mistaken..after all, it was many moons ago.
Because people were at the places just eating with the spoons out of the superbar and spreading their germs to other people so it was a failure because they HAD to get rid of it or face charges :P
The date on this video HAS to be wrong. I clearly remember seeing this on TV...but I was born in 1986, and I can't remember ANYTHING before I started going to pre-school. My God, I hope this wasn't my first memory.
If we bring this back, for the pasta, we would have noodles for spaghetti, fettuccine, linguine, penne, ziti, lasagna, etc., and for the tacos, the meats would include steak, chicken, pork, shrimp, ground beef, fish, etc. This buffet should also include, seafood, sushi, pizza, dessert, etc.. What else would you like this buffet to include?
You’re talking about a $30+ buffet! Haha 😂 Might as well thrown in some lobster 🦞, Alaskan king crab 🦀 legs, ceviche, paella 🥘, maybe some champagne 🍾 too!
BRING THIS BACK PLS

Your comment made me hungry

Yes, we had drawers full of these tapes at my parent's house
A group of us used to hit superbar at lunch. We devoured it! Every friday.
I really used to enjoy the Superbar, and what a deal!

Wendy's need their Superbar back!

Spaghetti noodles with nacho cheese and marinara. Sounds gross, but it was soo good.
That’s the way I used to get my ziti pasta in high school!
yeah, except minimum wage was $3.35 an hour at that time.
If you grew up in the suburbs this was the best and clean... in the city this was unSanitary and a mess
I miss the superb ar.
@MrHoppers002: i agree 3 bucks for an all out binge.....they should bring this back...
The Wendy's SuperBar kickstarted my love authentic Mexican cuisine.

I had TOTALLY forgotten this, though somehow memories of when I was probably 5 or less are rushing back about it.
That's almost $6 in today's dollars.
up to about 6.58---still not bad for AYCE!
@@monkeyb1820 now $7.06
@@NeoNeoNeo That’s still an unbelievable deal. I can see why Wendy’s discontinued the Superbar.
That's almost $25 in today's dollars...
this is a good video
Damn 2.99 would be awesome nowadays
yeah where the heck did they go? those were awesome!
Where's the OTHER commercial?
Covid19 friendly
#BringBackSuperBar
I love the cheese sauce
Usually made 3 or 4 trips, getting something from each station.
The nachos were a staple.
Tom Waits needs to sue this.
I just had super bar at my local wendys! Delicious!
How? Supposedly Wendy’s cancelled the Superbar in 1998.
Spaghetti and tacos ?!
2.99 my god people in the past had it made
Not really because work salaries were lower as well.
The 1980s were an experimental time. You don’t see anything crazy like the Wendy’s Superbar now sadly 😔.
I don't think you understand how inflation works.
Still a good deal.
Very cool this commercial of wendys

LOL! 😆
Sounds like Tom waits.
Google it!
It's a shame that they didn't follow the buffet model and sanitation rules or they would've been successful today with it.

@@gedaman I would have it cost about $3 to $10.
@@gedaman hopefully it won’t cause the burger sales to drop.
such a failure of Wendys
It was a success here in Indianapolis when i was young
