I think "Boulette" comes from the french word for a small ball (boule) like many expressions in Berlin. It is minced meat with some bread crumps and onions. In other parts of Germany it is called Frikadelle. The sauce is not ketchup but a spicy warm tomato sauce with curry. There are different sausages used to make currywurst, white ones with or without skin and red ones (with phosphate).
A Boulette is a fried flattened meatball (usually made of a half-and-half mix of ground pork and beef, with diced onions, watered and mashed stale white bread, sometimes an egg yolk, and various spices). It has different regional names across the German-speaking countries (e.g. Frikadelle or Fleischpflanzerl). The Berlin name "Boulette" comes from French Huguenots who as Protestants in the 18th century were invited by the Prussian King to settle in Berlin and other places within the Protestant Kingdom of Prussia, fleeing persecution in Catholic France.
*klugscheiß* Huguenots were invited in the 17th century (precisely 29th of October 1685) by the brandenburgian "great" elector Friedrich Wilhelm 😅 The "Boulette"-part is korrekt. For an original experience you should have it with mustard not ketchup. Fun fact: Berliners are often callled "Bouletten" by other Germans - both starts with an "B". This happens especially in the context of our (in-)famous, "superior" car driving skills in inner cities and the "B" on the number plates. 😇
There are two main types of Potato Salad in Germany based on regional preferences: The creamy mayonnaise-based variant you had in this video is prevalent in Northern Germany and usually served cold, while a vinegar-based variant is prevalent in Southern Germany and usually served warm.
My Swedish friends in Berlin, they have currywurst with or without skin on the sausage! You should try it. And make sure that they offer a homemade curry sauce and not that adulterated ketchup!
When it comes to currywurst, the more posh the place, the worse the sausage. The best ones are available as a simple street sale at: Curry36 & Konopke, Prenzlauer Berg. (even Google maps knew them)
Don't go to Konopke, it's a tourist trap. It's awful there. They have some history but the place has changed. If you are around that place you better go to Rosenthaler Platz to the Currywurst right at the crossroads. This is a really good one, Konopke isn't.
The typical Berlin dish is Berliner Eisbein - a cooked and not grilled pork knuckle. In winter this is often eaten with lentil stew. The pork knuckle adds real flavor and even binding. In the past, pig's feet were even used, but these are now sold to China at a high price because they are considered a delicacy there. And they are, but nibbling on these bones )not the lower, the upper part) is considered indelicate here today.
We eat Currywurst usually with french fries and mayo. The amount of the Ketchup is that you can dip also your fries in it. By the way, every Currywurst vendor has its own made sauce, so it tastes differently everywhere you Go. Greetings ✌️
It is called Boulette or Bulette. Both ways are fine. The ketchup is always home-made and so is the curry powder (always mixed with "paprika" powder and other secret herbs) . Where ever you go.
Hallo ihr beiden,es tut mir leid es sagen zu müssen aber ihr Touris sucht euch immer die falschen Buden raus... sorry wir Berliner gehen dort nicht hin, lieber Gruß ein Berliner 🤗

ubi kentang salad sedap
It was so delicate 😋
I thought only in Malaysia that use wrapping paper on a plate....hmm.... interesting....in Germany also do that .. interesting
It helps reduce the work when cleaning the plates as most of the sauces and other food remains will come off with the paper already.
Always fun to learn about new places 😄
Looks so tasty guys
You gotta try it! 😉
is this the right place to test a currywurst in berlin? ich glaube nicht tim.
Maybe not 😄 we must try more, stay tuned 😃
I always eat my Bouletten, Frikadellen oder Fleischküchle only with Mustard and Laugenbrötchen or Schwäbischen Kartoffelsalat (vinegar based)🤓
This potato salad here was really tasty, you could feel the vinegar 😋

Our Swedish meatballs is very similar this boulette, without the sauce 😄
Ketchup is killing the taste! That's maybe Berlin, but definitely not German.
